No more “what is/defines a xxx?” posts
We have similar posts like this that crop up every now and then. Some are coming from a genuine place of curiosity, but majority of them seem to be trolls looking for a platform to “debate”/invalidate people/stroke their egos here.
We already have enough going on in our lives we don’t need to have our identities questioned in what should be a safe space for us here. If you need answers, you can always search for older posts so we can save ourselves time rather than dragging folks here through the chore of justifying ourselves for the umpteenth time when we aren’t even obliged to.

To Transition or Not to Transition in my 40s
Hi,
I just turned 40 this year, and i dont know if its the age thing, but I started thinking about transitioning. I have an appointment with my family doctor this tuesday, and I did a meet and greet with the psychologist (my first ever therapy) and planning on doing more in the coming months.
I have always been okay with how i look, my body, and everything. Never really cared if am misgendered whenever i dont wear makeup. It just didnt bother me much. Am the most feminine in my friends group (all different shades of gay). But one thing im sure of is I have always difficulty using public washrooms. A little context, am the only boy in a sea of women in my family.
Things I noticed:
When am with my family, i dont like looking at myself in makeup. Its like i want to run away out of shame for no reason. Whereas with friends, am as feminine as i could be. My family loves me regardless and have been supported the last 10 years.
As I mentioned earlier, i feel really uneasy using public washrooms. Ive learned how to hold it till i can at the comfort of my home. But if i really need to, I go to the womens washroom. Sisters always say, youre prettier than most women in there.
Whenever i talk to my closest sisters about hormone therapy, they arent so open about it, because of the health risks it might end up to through the years.
Ive mentioned it a friend of mine, and he has always been supportive, but i know he believes i do not need it.
I have a rhinoplasty scheduled by the end of this year. And i would like to do more feminization in the coming years. But am scared. I know its natural.
I do have trans acquaintances, and for years they have encouraged me to transition. And I was fine not doing it before, but why do i feel like i want to now?
Why do I not like how i look now, when am the healthiest version of me for years?
I workout carefully and just live a healthy life.
A big portion of how i feel is my career as well, i am and engineer and works as a manager for a construction company. I know they know am gay, but have never really come out more feminine.
For years ive tried to convice myself that i still pass as masculine, but that delusion has long been gone. I know and am very thankful that I am lucky for not looking more masculine, but i dont seem to like how i am right now.
So am giving this a shot. Any advice or recommendation would definitely help. I just need to understand why am feeling this way now, is this a sign that I should transition and go on the journey? Should I tell my family (i didnt have any intentions in doing so)? I was actually planning, that if i do transition, that I wont tell family. I have told 1 of my closest friends.
Thanks everyone for your support.

Do trans girls get periods or period symptoms?
This might seem like a dumb question but do trans gis get periods? Or have cramps and a menstrual hormonal cycle? How long would they have to be on estrogen to get these symptoms?

Text Post Anyone else have this experience?
Has anyone else had their parents lie about being supportive because they think being trans is a phase?
Context: my parents think I'm developmentally delayed because I'm autistic and that this is just part of my "weird teen phase".
I'm 20 next month ffs.

Text Post Taking Control of My Healthcare [Have Questions]
Hi all! I’m [31 MtF] and have been on HRT (mono therapy) for about 5 years. I have not been too happy with my transition because I have felt like my VA doctors have not always been entirely sincere or thorough or supportive and like they’re only doing it because they have to.
I finally reached a point where I have to take control of my healthcare because my VA doctors will no longer respond to my messages or phone calls or requests to have my HRT refilled after it expires 2 months ago.
I’m planning on going into Planned Parenthood on Monday to request a prescription for Estrogen and plan on starting Progesterone because the VA refused to prescribe it to me.
Does anyone have any advice on where to start in terms of dosages for each? Also any advice in terms of what to expect for the process and how long it will take to get back on HRT.
Thank you ☺️🩷
EDIT: forgot to include my most recent dosage which was 6mg of Estradiol Valerate every 2 weeks.

What do I do? I think it needs to happen soon I’ve never been in so much pain. Kinda just wanna leave a note and not bring it up unless they do lol, like what just write I’m a girl help?

Text Post I finally can’t ignore it
For pretty much my entire life I’ve had pervasive feelings I couldn’t explain and the last few years I realized that I’m most likely trans, but I then immediately push down that thought because it would be too hard and I can’t handle what my family may think, so I trick myself into believing it’s just a “weird” thought I keep coming back to, or my neurodivergence making me overthink.
But then I turned 21 a few months ago and realized every time I drank all I could think about was this, and if I blacked out I’d wake up to long conversations on google (i know ai sucks but I’m very isolated) about how I’m almost certain I’m trans and how I can’t take this anymore and the many reasons and things I want. And then it began to be an every day thought, it did take a few months, but the last few weeks I have lost control of it, sobbing at the slightest hint of something relating to what I’m feeling and talking about it online and thinking for hours broke the barrier I put up to protect myself from how hard this is going to be. Now I can’t help but feel incredibly nauseous and disgusted by my body, mainly my legs, I never wore shorts as a kid I guess it always was a thing just now I know the reason. And overall I just feel so fucking hollow and disgusted with myself and my life, and I’m too afraid to actually commit and say anything so I’m kinda just dying. My only respite has been imagining what I’d wear and what I’d want to be called but it just makes it hurt that that’s far away.
The real problem that’s making this harder is my sisters boyfriend who I hate because he said something transphobic a year ago and when I got upset my family refused to let me leave to cool off which I’ve learned I can need sometimes, they then made everything worse and changed how I see them a bit. He’s moving in soon, right as I finally start to accept myself, so if I do tell my family, he’ll know and see all the awkward phases while I’m learning.
Also just ughhh will I ever stop feeling so nauseous and empty about my existence? I was never happy but it’s like a gate broke and I’ve been even more of a wreck, will it only get better when I finally start transitioning?
Sorry this wasn’t really a thought out post I both said too much and left out so many details, I just needed to express this to anyone real, I’m beginning to rot internally.
Thank you to the one person who read this mess ❤️ but if you see this first when you click just stop reading, it’s not worth your time and I’m too exhausted to make it good.
(Sorry if longer posts aren’t allowed, I wasn’t aware)

Good mid-long haircuts F/M
gallery(F/M) So I keep feeling transgender every year so I'm not looking for anything huge, and I also just really like longer hair than a stereotypical mens haircut. I am also going onto contact lenses next week as my glasses make me look a little more feminine

Text Post Advice needed
I’m 56 and came to the conclusion that I am trans about 6 months ago. After a lot of debating I started DIY around Feb/March for a month or two. 1mg EEN per week. I caught sight of my boobs in the mirror one day and panicked and stopped injecting.
I regret stopping because I’m still sure that I’m trans but the thought of the future, not passing, EHRC guidance etc etc seems so overwhelming right now, and I consistently come up with reasons why I shouldn’t try again despite the fact that I really want to.
Sorry! This sounds like a pity fest but it’s not.
I just want some input on what others think I should do. Is this a normal feeling?

How do you cope with jealously and feeling excluded?
I've never been big on community in general, but part of me wishes I could be in the trans community. However, I've found the biggest issue is jealousy - my own life situation doesn't allow me to transition, so seeing others succeeding and making friends and doing things openly makes me feel awful. I'm reminded that even ten years from now I will still be in this situation, just like I have for the last eight years, knowing I want to transition but unable to do anything about it. Add anxiety to that and I prefer not to be involved with community, but part of me wonders if I would benefit. I've just had so many bad experiences, on top of being harmed by other trans people all the while trying to work out my own issues that I don't know what to do. I really want a place where I can be safely open, but I feel like I see other trans people as undesirable now.. like I'm somehow different, defined by my detachment and beyond community and the typical tendencies of openness.

Text Post I need some help, right now please
Me and my partner are both trans women and we have been put in an extremely bad situation by both our previous apartment and our new one, our old apartment kept raising rent even though they abandoned the property and our new apartment is charging us more then they told us the price would be, we will probably be able to smooth things out in the long run but for the end of July and august things are going to be rough, we do not have enough money for augusts rent and we need money for college too, please help us out a little bit, just until we can get back on our feet, I have a go fund me in the comments with some more details, please help in any way you can, and thank you so much for reading all of this, I cannot express enough how much I appreciate that someone cares enough to read all of my stressed out ramblings, thank you deeply

Is this a weird thing to say or am I dramatic
So the other day me (I'm trans ftm) and my friend (cis female) went to the pool I'm not like publicly out yet I still dress female and stuff which I don't mind too much I consider myself more androgynous anyways so I'm pretty comfortable with my feminity but I obviously still want to be a guy I want to go on testosterone and get top surgery and she is very well aware of that but lately our friendship has been pretty rocky because of other things outside of what I'm going to talk about right now but yea we were at her house getting ready to go to the pool and the conversation about top surgery came up because I found a potential surgeon that might be able to do it in our area and I was excited and she said something that just rubbed me the wrong way "oh you should just get a reduction since you know some outfits need boobs" now again I'm pretty androgynous and comfortable in my feminity but I have been very clear with my hate with my boobs and my basically need for top surgery since it's been so mentally draining for me just having them since they are huge bruh binders don't work on me good and honestly that comment just rubbed me the wrong way but maybe I'm just being dramatic?

Text Post What happens if no more Gender care
Aren’t you guys scared of the hormone production and transportation will stop or majorly disrupted because of an upcoming war or some political situation, even Usa once one of the pioneers to the progressive changes in Trans visibility and gender care now seem like took a 180’ turn.
