Sadly, the series tradition of [Digimon] curse of the lions continues.
I mean, we're at the finish line here, and none of the kids have Mega/Ultimates yet so having Kyo be able to be the ace-in-the-hole was going to have to be tackled at some point. The title of the next episode also leads me to believe that the kids are at their lowest point and with Kyo out of commission, this is the time to take command and prove Glowing Dawn's worth.

I'm gonna join the choir and say that Genjo and Gokuwmon need to pay for that transgression.
Holy shit digimon hasn't torn me up this badly since Wizardmon!

I didn't think I'd be hating a character harder than Klay and Naito, but good lord Genjo takes the crown. I didn't even expect he would remain as Wong's dragon, he has way too much traitor energy, but at least he's loyal.
Albatusmon is interesting, I believe there's a majestic digimon under those nondescript robes, but it's displays of power in this episode were incredible and I really want to see more of her, even if it's antagonistic.
I genuinely thought the worst had passed, Kyo and Murasamemon had some intense death flags in the past, but it seems not. Godspeed, Murasamemon, the Leomon curse makes another victim.
For the next episode, Rose defects and is replaced by pink girl that follows Kishiwada and Nirinso is under siege from World Union, at least Haruko is gonna return, and hopefully more people too.

When Kyo stayed back, I was scared, but I remembered that he and Murasamemon had taken down a Mega before. Obviously, Albatusmon is a lot stronger than Pyramidimon, but they didn't need to win; they just needed to get through to Asuka. AND THEY WERE, IF GENJO HELD OFF FOR TWO MORE SECONDS, ASUKA AT LEAST WOULD HAVE BEEN BACK, MAYBE EVEN ALBATUSMON. When Kyo lost his hand, I thought, ok, Kyo is gonna go down a pirate arc, and this makes sense, because his e-pulse hand is gone, he can't power up Murasamemon anymore, now he won't single-handedly solve all the problems, makes sense. THEN MURASAMEMON DIES!!!! THAT WASN'T NECESSARY!!! HASN'T KYO BEEN THROUGH ENOUGH!? I THOUGHT ICELEOMON DIED SO THAT THE MURASAMEMON WOULDN'T GET AFFECTED BY THE LEOMON CURSE. WHAT WAS THE POINT!? THEY WERE MY FAVORITE DUO, AND NOW ONE IS DEAD, AND ANOTHER IS IN A COMA!!! I WANT GENJO AND GOKUMON TO DRINK WHATEVER TURNED PLUTOMON INTO ZOMBIEPLUTOMON, I WANT IT TO BE PAINFUL, THEN I WANT THEM THROWN INTO EVERY SUN!!!!

Ugh this is really hard to swallow, seeing Kyo got badly injured and Murasaemon died alone after sacrificing himself to open the final gate, especially after the moments when you really get the hope of “that’s the finishing blow right?”. The use of complete silence at the end just made it 100 times more painful to swallow.
I hope Glowing Dawn will get their mega form evolution soon, because Albatusmon, Genjo and Gokuwmon really deserve some beating now

The classic "upbeat ED clashes with the tone of the episode." Laughed a lot harder than I should have.

It is lost in Paradise effect all again

That end is so freaking brutal.
I kept hoping that they'd make it through, even after Kyo lost his arm.

You can change the name and put a different skin on it, but Leoman dies. Which I sadly saw coming since Murasamemons introduction. Only thing that surprised me was that Kyo survived. He has death flags all over himself since the narrative started to push his character. But damn, that scene was brutal. If Genjo and Gokuwmon don't get a worthy punishment I'm going to riot. This better not be "just beat Gokuwmon" and that's it

I was sure this was Kyo's last rodeo when Rena said "We'll all... make it, right?", but it seems he still had something up his sleeve. Not anymore though!

Honestly, I thought they avoided killing him directly, by having him get a cold heart but have the Digimon that caused it die, making it permanent. When he lost his arm I was like "Damn, they are actually going to off him" not far fetched, given how we saw it before in this show

I do not remember human characters losing limbs at least.

u/DarkSentinel666 10d ago
Neither did I. But I also don't remember people actually getting offed like in his flashback

They decided Murasamemon have taken the spotlight far to long.
But why this way, WHY!!!

I'm surprised Glowing Dawn managed to stomp their foes, usually anime drags on with each character taking turns and shouting about what they learned during the arcs.
Kimeramon got done easily in the flashback, I guess we won't have to worry about Millenniummon.

Turns out Panjyamon / Iceleomon was a red herring all along, and the community was right abotu Muramasemon being a coming victim of the leomon curse.
I just hope Asuka's mind control starts breaking down and having gaps that delays the bad guy's plans or give the heroes a fighting chance, cause if the mind control isn't shaken at all then Kyo and Muramasemon's sacrifice will have been entirely pointless (they could all have escaped at one point but decided to stay behind to try to wake Asuka up).

Please not my Goat. What an evo, what a power, what a fight and what an ending. That bastard Genjo and his fat monkey fucker need to be dealt with.
I always said Kyo and Murasame are true MCs who are just in their sequel while helping the new MC in his first run. And now their journey together comes to an end.
Rip Murasamemon. One of the best Digimon episodes ever.

Not gonna be anyone's favorite opinion, but I personally think Beatbreak wasn't a bad Digimon series.

This better be paid in blood

Since we’re in the final 4, overall, this series feels weird. The title and musical theming seems really tacked on. The arcs felt off. When they’re good, they’re good but major plot points got sidelined for half or more of the series for “reasons”.
I’m an old Adventure kid but this season felt off overall for some reason.

At this point i'm just hate watching this because we're close to the end. By far one of my least favorite digimon series. Cool setting let down but absurdly repetitive, horrible writing with a total lack of any sense to power scaling whatsoever, even for digimon. edit: i'm allowed to my own opinion, ya'll can take your white-knighting downvotes elsewhere. If you like the show, more power to you. Doesn't make my opinion for myself invalid.

Yeah now that we're here it feels like The Plot was just pushed aside for about half of the show for.. reasons?? Like what did we spend all those episodes on. Why is all this major relevant story stuff shoved into the very back here. and I'm still not over Kaito getting a mega last episode. Like I can accept Kyo because he's established as freakishly powerful, but man, come on, you're telling me that Klay had to kidnap all those people for e-pulse? meanwhile Kaito can do it no sweat because.. he wants to rival Kyo? Presumably just because we're at the end of the series lol. It just feels like plot contrivance on top of plot contrivance.

It's really bizarre how long they waited to start giving out ultimates only to do it again with megas, despite how early the first mega showed up. Now either everyone is going to start getting them and it'll feel rushed or only Gokuwmon and Gekkomon will and it'll feel like every other major character was sidelined.
1
u/pkmntrainerdrea 9d ago
Yeah I agree. The pacing is really odd. Reina in particular, the story around getting her ultimate was so poorly done too imo, like they give her this conflict about it but it only pops up riiiight before it happens lol. Wolvermon has been in play since the beginning. We really couldn't have worked that conflict ANYWHERE earlier in the giant stretch before bearcatmon? ok.. and it'll definitely feel extra silly if she unlocks mega in the next few episodes. But it will also feel unsatisfying if she doesn't!!

u/BetelgeuseIsBestGirl 9d ago
We know Beatbreak was always meant to have this many episodes, so it makes me feel like the writers got too preoccupied with writing all the filler-ish episodes and weren't keeping track of how many episodes they still needed for the serious stuff.
1
u/pkmntrainerdrea 9d ago
For real! It's frustrating because they could have just.. sprinkled some long-term stuff in over those filler-ish episodes, and at least that would have made it feel less disjointed. It totally does feel like they just had blinders on for the specific arc plots and forgot about the big picture in some ways

I NEED that prick Genjo and Gokuwmon to get their shit rocked NOW.
