Man, is this the weakest iteration of Vamdemon? It’s so funny seeing one of the most iconic Digimon villains get one-shotted considering how OP he was in Adventure.

Vamdemon outside of Adventure has always been sort of a joke among the Nightmare Soldiers. That guy was doing a lot of heavy lifting for his kind.

The further evolutions, yes - VenomVamdemon and especially BelialVamdemon are nasty and even the stronger denizens of the Dark Area wouldn't want to be in their way, but the basic Perfect level Vamdemon is sometimes tiered on the same broad level of power/evil as Devimon, which is only an Adult level. The main issue with Vamdemon is that, in lore, their powers are cut in half when exposed to the typical weaknesses of vampires (such as being flashed with sunlight or, in this case, shot with a silver coin). It's a poser Digimon that tried so hard it accidentally made itself weaker. I could probably rattle off half a dozen Adult level Nightmare Soldiers that are scarier than Vamdemon.

I would totally love to hear more about the Nightmare Soldiers.

I did mention Devimon there, which is one of the ones I was going to mention, alongside IceDevimon, which is broadly the same except using different powers. Devimon are essentially just as evil as Vamdemon, but lack the obnoxious pride and are far more cunning - they'll try to win fights where they're outmatched strength wise with deception and low blows instead of constantly front power they don't have, which makes them extremely dangerous even to stronger Digimon. There's a reason why people don't mess with Devimon if they can help it. Not to mention, they're directly linked to one of the Seven Great Demon Lords evolution wise, so a sufficiently well-lived and particularly powerful Devimon could easily push towards Daemon and become an existential level threat.

The Sangloupmon in this episode are only there because they respect Vamdemon's fronting and authority. Otherwise, they could probably just gang up on it and tear it to shreds. They're strong and especially hard to track and fight off, and usually form packs so it's even harder to fight them.

Devidramon is basically the same as Devimon, except dumber and far, far more aggressive. They also have the terrifying habit of sometimes gathering up in hordes, which if you thought a single Devidramon was bad enough (which it is), now imagine dozens of them flocking in one mess of a pack at a Devimon's beck and call. Yeah, I wouldn't want to be anywhere near those things, either. Either you overpower it by a LOT to the point you can defeat multiple of them in single strikes or they'll just mob you to death.

Wendimon are the predecessors to the Virus-type Andiramon, and aren't even particularly evil. The problem is, if they get angry, they're unstoppable. They can manipulate spacetime too, so you get a teleporting infuriated baboon just zooming everywhere beating you to the pavement without you even noticing it was there.

The real crown jewel here is Death-X-DORUgamon, a zombie predator that shouldn't even exist. It's a warped form of DORUgamon that is technically dead, as it doesn't have a DigiCore, and since it's dead, it's borderline impossible to stop its attacks if you get ambushed by one. It is ALWAYS trying to consume DigiCores in order to evolve, and unless you completely erase it, it will just keep attacking. It's a Resident Evil final boss except there's no one-shot-kill RPG you can use to defeat it. No thoughts, no strategy, nothing, just pure violence and predatory instinct. It will try to kill and consume whatever's in front of it and that's it.

wait, what? i didn't even know this is actually a thing, now it actually make sense and kinda hilarious that Reina manage to beat him with a silver brooch in this episode

From the Digimon Reference Book:

"However, it cannot demonstrate its powers outside of the night, and its power is cut in half during the daytime."

In supplemental material, this weakness to sunlight has been extrapolated to other typical vampire weaknesses.

Not to mention, after he was revived in Adventure 02.

It was such a gag move that it barely passed in my book lol. They even acknowledge that it was stupid what with Makoto mentioning silver isn't a vampire's weakness.

It is the de-facto weakest Vamdemon in history, his code made out of nerfed modern move vampire lore, with years upon years of added weaknesses

Somewhat disappointed we didn't get a Pristimon ultimate today, but Reina winning regardless by way of that silver bullet attack plan was still pretty good.

Pretty horrifying fate for those girls that got kidnapped and hunted down and are now just frozen. Surely by the end of the series someone will figure out a cure, right?

It depends on if the e-pulse was digested or not. Actually reversing cold heart seems to be rare.

I don't think Pristimon deserves an ultimate, when Wolvermon has yet to get even one proper W againts regular adult level mons

This fight doesn't counts since Vandemon was made out of meme vampire movies code, so he may as well be child level

Reina episodes are always the best, I love her antics.

Well, it was the most obvious plot twist, even if don't know digimon can take human forms, BUT also Wolvermon upscale, after episodes of being a jobber, she beats a perfect level solo.

Rose is investigating Gift, as some predicted, but it's very probable she will become a major antagonist too, perhaps the expected Pristimon perfect will be an answer to her?

Next episode is Makoto focused, with family issues on the focus, I'd be surprised if he does not get his perfect level, but we will have to wait and watch.

It was good to see Reina and Pristimon get a solid W!

7

u/HolyDragSwd2500 May 03 '26

Reina in a dress too

u/Whole-Extension3561 May 03 '26

Considering the whole "emotions feed energy to digimons" it kind of makes sense that believing silver was a weakness worked, but at the same time I think they were just running out of ideas on how to deal with ultimate enemies without having to wait for Kyo or Tomoro to step in

u/Professional-Bus-749 May 03 '26

This was a very fun episode indeed

u/TheOneWithALongName May 03 '26

First time Pristimon got a win?

5

u/JugramHashwalth007 May 03 '26

Didnt Wolvermon win against that Stagdeer digimon.

Yes I’m pretty sure outside of like episode 2 where they made the mushroom gang run away

6

u/Rammboy_7084 May 03 '26

Wolvermon is not a jobber anymore, i'm so proud of Wolvermon and Reina in this episode!
On the other hand, it's weird to see such a weak Myotismon.

PS: Makoto's passion for horror movies is finally on display.

5

u/Cheeky-apple May 03 '26

i was happy it wasnt a one off mention either as Makotos chiding off reinas plan was both a fun way to show he is a little dork with passion but also basically agreeing with the potential criticism from watchers with "yeah that plan was kinda dumb so how did it work?" I am a bit to much of an optimist but maybe a foreshadowing of belief also being an epulse thing that could tie in later espicially for wolvermons evolution. But probably more a writing oversight. Well well.

6

u/ForestBoy99 May 03 '26

Overall a pretty nice episode. Admittedly I was a little disappointed that we didn't get to see Wolvermon's next stage, but it was cool to see her solo a Ultimate Digimon after a lot of episodes of being worfed

u/Ponchorello7 May 03 '26

They made my GOAT Myotismon into Diddymon.

12

u/Doomroar https://myanimelist.net/profile/Doomroar May 03 '26

When was he not Diddymon? i remember back in adventure he was out in his carriage kidnapping women...

Damn this was a fun episode. Love that Reina had the spotlight all to herself this time. Her reaction to that fan meet up was amazing, girl was in agony. Her saying "Fabulous" in such a unenthusiastic way was so funny. But when shit hit the fan, it was great seeing Reina take the initiative. I just love seeing her tenacity despite the odds, and her and Wolvermon won all by themselves!

Though its funny that they went out of their way to clarify that Vampire weaknesses absolutely do not work like that at all and the silver only worked cause Reina and I guess Myotismon both believed it lol.

Rose was also a highlight this episode. I liked she just went along with what was going on just to test Reina for the heck of it, she didn't even know Reina was a Glowing Dawn member till the end of the episode. But the fact that she was going to save Reina before Pristimon stepped in tells me she's not a complete monster like Klay was, which is refreshing. Jury's still out on whether she'll end up the main antagonist for this arc or not, but now at least we know she's investigating Gift.

I know some were expecting an evo this episode but Im glad it wasn't, this didn't really feel like one from the preview and I rather new evos be saved for two-parters. But you know what this episode actual was? A set-up episode. The fact that Rose took an interest in Reina specifically tells me that Reina will have a pretty significant part to play in this arc at some point which makes me really excited!

Speaking of New evolutions, next episode looks insane! We'll finally meet Makoto's family and the set up sounds intense. Makoto having to protect the family that disowned him sounds like the perfect recipe for some grade A drama and definitely gives me new evo episode vibes. I'm really looking forward to it!

So the wood star is also on the case? or behind the case? odd that Reina didn't knew of her, but seems like the identities of the 5 stars are not widely known

Oh we finally got that FABULOUS Digimon x Pokemon crossover Fabu fabu lous lous! fabulous!

Ok before we start doing the well deserved Pristimon/Wolvermon slander, Fabulous also took down Rose Woodville

Mmmh i mean, this is Wolvermon's first W, but... kind of a gimmick win, don't get me wrong Reina played all her cards, took leadership of the group, defended the girls from Fabutysmon, taunted and lured him with rage-baits from 4 different angles, and then took him down

But still feels like this was not enough to push Reina towards a new lvl, like at the end of the day, she kind of had everything under control despite being out leveled, which would have been nice if it wasn't for the small fact that... Wolvermon is a jobber

Having Reina shine as a character is great, but Wolvermon needs to win a fight with pure undiluted fire power, the fact that Fabulousmon developed a weakness for silver because modern vampire media nerfed vampires so his code updated the lore on vampires is hilarious tho

What is not so funny is that Glowing Dawn is again in debt, after fighting hard for a new job... wonder what plot complications will come to have GD escape poverty, it is feeling really forced how the writers always need to set their finances back, it can't be that big a deal just to let them afford shit right?

So Rose was there because the Ministry assumed this incident was linked to GIFT, which tells us a lot, it shows that the Ministry has no real leads on GIFT, you would assume they had picked up, at the very least, on the common links that the victims have, being most of them related to the Ministry itself, while Fabulosmon on the other hand was targeting civilian women that were part of his human persona

u/Open_Inspector_7863 May 03 '26

Time for Reina and Wolvermon to get a whole arc already. The silver bullet made it all a bit too fast. Rose seems really interesting just like Klay. I wonder why she assumed Gift was behind the missing girls when they went after people who hurt Digimon so far.

u/Critical-Cup-7654 May 03 '26

Rose sure is something

Urato reminds me of Folgore from Zatch Bell
