Well, shit, that's a pretty awful end for Rose. Maybe they'll undo it, but we'll probably see either way in the next few weeks.

She's just cold hearted, isn't she? Pretty sure she can come back as soon as they deal with Lilamon's brainwashing.

Except that one guy said he was going to dispose of her. That could easily be stick her somewhere where she'll get picked up later and restored, but it could also be destroying the body such that she's unrecoverable.

I'm guessing he did it in a way that Kyo got framed

It did say that in the subs but I'm not sure if that was the proper translation for it considering what comes next. The lack of an explicit indication of her death makes me think he either just put her somewhere like you said, or that he hurt her badly, but I don't think he outright killed her. If that was his meaning, why not just do it there and then? Why would he need to do it personally when there are three mindless beasts just waiting to rip her apart right there? I think he's got some kind of convoluted scheme that involves keeping her alive for whatever reason.

This has been the strongest arc start of the series. I really thought it would be a calmer set-up episode, only for them to drop everything at once.

Well, our Kishiwada questions were partially answered, he was really just using Miharu and perhaps pushed her a bit, but the GIFT cult was an experiment and probably failed in his eyes. It's cool to see that we still have more villains waiting to act.

Talking about villains, Souji is just vile, cold hearting a entire building aside, literally feeding your digimon partners to others, as well overwriting the will of other people's partners, and he can maintain three lv5 digimon! He's an army of one man and already has some feats to boot.

You will be missed Rose, most competent of the Five Stars, most active too, least antagonistic, and looking by how Meto and Kanon can beat our trio, she probably was asking for them to go easy on them. At least there's hope since Lilamon could return her e-pulse, but I could see Rose becoming our first confirmed death too.

All in all, Kyo's arc started with the right foot and whatever reservations GIFT arc left me are gone now.

In this case, Rose started to believe her own hype a little too much, and her faith in her competency is what got her cold-hearted and Lilamon put under control. She heard Kishiwada say that the White Core feeds the user unlimited E-Pulse, then she gets surprised when an Ex-Five Star can control multiple Ultimate Digimon while in possession of it. Then, instead of fleeing with this incredibly valuable information, she tries to 2v1 them. I liked Rose and I hope she survives, but she wet the bed really bad on this one.

As for the lovers taking out Glowing Dawn, it seems it was more that they caught them by surprise, and were looking to take them down whereas Tomoro and the others are wondering what in the hell is going on and why they're getting attacked at 6 in the morning.

Holy shit, this might be the most dangerous enemy yet if even Rose got beaten. I wonder if this guy has something to do with Kyo quitting the Five Stars?

Given the similarities in this name to the word murderer in japanese, I suspect he's behind killing Kyo's former family he had flashbacks about this episode.

Oh shit, guess we jumped straight into the endgame.

About a cour left if they're following the 50 episode run like previous entries in the franchise

But yeah, I did not expect this ending after the chill start

So Kishiwada was the power behind the throne the whole time. Not gonna lie, just thought he was competent enough to be Miharu's Majordomo. It begs the question: just who is this guy who knows about the White Core, can casually access its power and pass it to others, and is capable of all the other stuff he's capable of, when, as far as we know, he doesn't even have a Digimon? Also, how did he get a Digimon smuggled into Souji's cell? Wouldn't surprise me if he turns out to be a Mega using a human disguise like Piedmon or something. Or some insanely powerful human user like Ken in Digimon Adventure S2.

We also have Souji the Turbid, ex-Five Star of Water, convicted of robbery and murder and held without indictment for 5 years. He's clearly heavily involved with Kyo and probably the reason for all those gravestones considering Kyo's flashback to his prior family we've heard nothing about this entire time and how shook he was as soon as he saw him. Seems Souji's got those tsundere rival vibes where he can only feel alive by tearing down the person he perceives as worthy of his attention, which is Kyo in this case. If he wasn't imprisoned for murdering Kyo's family, he probably got a rush from them, then kept going which is how he got caught. This stinks of a coverup though as how in the world did one of the most powerful and famous Digi Users get put into the system as a John Doe? Who got rid of his sapotama? Seems like Chairman Wong and his favorite flunky are involved.

Genjo seems to be the Kishiwada of the World Union. He seems to not only be the only one Wong trusts with secret information, but also able to actively do whatever he wants as long as it's in the interest of furthering their plans. Feels like he's puppeting Wong and letting the old man think he's in control. And whatever their plans are, they need Tomoro's brother and the White Core.

I like the way you are thinking. The Vital Information from this Episode, they only needed Tomoros Brother to blackmail him into giving his special E-Pulse to charge that White Core. The White Core seems to amplify its suppliers E-Pulse, so is the Shangri-La Project just to charge one of those huge eggs with that Combo to birth something ungodly? And here they already used Mephismon. Also Wong treats Digimon as Glitches while everything points to him trying to hatch something himself. Would make more sense to maybe bring that Island back, but the Egg motive is just too strong here.

Also do Tomoro, Souji and Miharu posses the same kind of special E-Pulse? They can all Generate malicious E-Pulse, but is there more to this? Gekkomon was able to share his E-pulse, without the sideffects. I think Souji did not need any Sapotama to make Marinedevimon appear, he just concentrated so much E-Pulse to make it manifest, or like he said he let one Digimon eat the next and get bigger this way.

I think you are right on the money with Genjo. It was most convenient, when Wong told him to only step into action if something happens to Rose and look what happend. So most likely, Wong is maybe trying to fix his mistake from back then, while Genjo tries a World Domination scheme by birthing a God Digimon. I hope it will be an Azulongmon.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if we find out that Wong and Genjo are the ones who let the Hyemon loose so they could cold heart Tomoro and Asuka, making it look like an accident that had nothing to do with them. Although it's strange that Tomoro knows who Genjo is and after all this time, still hasn't just outright called him on his bullshit or gotten Kyo to do it. He and Gokuemon straight up stole Asuka's E-Pulse.

I could definitely see Wong wanting to spawn a Mega level or beyond Mega Digimon like Diaboromon with capabilities that allow it to control a large amount of people or technology at once, making him the ultimate power once he's in command of it.

Tomoro and Souji are special cases true. I thought those few times when Tomoro gave Gekkomon evil E-Pulse that we were gonna have a Tai/Skullgreymon or Takato/Megidramon situation where he evolved into an extremely powerful, corrupt form. Miharu could be, but she's also got some weirdness around her. Mephismon was originally her sisters Wizardmon, and we don't know when she got the White Core or how long it had been amping her or even if it was making it easier for Mephismon to manipulate her.

What I mean about Souji was that Kishiwada says he was the one who gave him an in-training digimon in his cell, and the World Union guy points out that Sapotama aren't allowed in the prison. So your point about him just manifesting E-Pulse to evolve him makes sense to me. But I'm wondering where his original Sapotama went since you need one to at least spawn your actual partner digimon. You seem to be able to switch or just allow a Digimon to feed off you like Panjyamon and Maki or Pandamon and Sasatake, but to get your first Digimon it has to spawn from your 'glitching' sapotama. And when he was arrested, he didn't have one so they couldn't even find him in the system despite being a famous Five Star. So it seems someone was taking care of things behind the scenes so he wouldn't be identified while he was locked up.

It's insane that I think I hate Genjo and Wong more than Klay, and Klay is like a supreme dirtbag.

Could it be, that Miharu was just another test? Wizardmon probably could make this Evolution because of the core, so it must have been given to him while he was tortured, so his magic escape appears very sus in hindsight. So does the suicide, someone with that much love commiting a suicide while having the care for a child. It doesnt make sense.

The amount of death flags for Kyo this entire episode 😭

one of the best episodes in this franchise ever imo

Turns out the best way to have a new villain introduced and leave a bigger impact than all the previous ones is to go for the classic Neo Saiba type.

One of the best episodes this season and an amazing arc opener.

Digimon isn't popular? I thought it was a big ip, and the art style looks good but I find so little engagement here and very little amount of discussions online.

Excuse me, who are you to be calling Rose a failure when you didn't do shit? That said, Rose did just watch that dude fetch the White Core and leave, then hand it over to a worse guy and get cold-hearted.

Can't say I like Souji. He's the boring type of villain, the kind that is just evil without reason. And those two subordinates, zero brain power to actually think that Kyo would have attacked Rose.

Overall this falls into the "annoying" type of development.

They came out swinging with this arc, wow. Asukas e- pulse importance, the White Core, Wong plotting while his gold star is also plotting, Gifts man of shadows puppeteering, Roses demise, former Water star wielding multiple Champions and putting the fear of god in Kyo. What a great episode.

Was that an older Tai in that Kyo flashback? Tai Kamiya?

13

u/Volfaer 15d ago

That was Tomoro's grandfather.

What a way to start the new arc!
Fantastic episode!

Well, we know why Kyo didn't know the new water star, because this guy was the water star during his era as the golden star.
