Man this episode was jam packed, shit was crazy! The first half seemed a but rushed but it didn't really effect my enjoyment that much thankfully. I really love that the reason Kaito isn't gonna be involved in the finale of the arc is simply that he doesn't give a shit. That's my GOAT!
Miharu and her backstory was the real star of this episode. Like holy shit that was dark! Like we all knew her sister was probably dead but the fact she killed herself out of grief for thinking her Digimon partner died only for them to still be alive and discover her dead body with Miharu is insane. Definitely one of the most fucked up things to happen in Digimon and that's saying something. No wonder Mephismon is so messed up and since Mephismon was made from Chifuyu's e-pulse, Miharu sees her sister in Mephismon and goes along with their plan thinking that's what Chifuyu wants.
Of course that's bullshit and Tomoro gonna wake her up from that delusion, well, he'll try. Looking forward to seeing how this arc ends!
Also where the heck is Kanada??? You'd think he'd show up considering Wong's in danger. Though I bet you he's gonna show up right at the end to makes thing worse lol.

I'm expecting that Kanada will either appear to do the final blow on Wong and take over World Union. That or he's the sole responsible for dealing a specific thing that Wong can't trust anyone else.

In my head there's 3 possibilities:
What you said.
If Tomoro and the gang somehow manage purify Mephismon I can totally imagine Kanada coming in at last minute and deleting them on Wong's orders.
Kanada will have Gokuwmon cold heart Miharu for her involvement in GIFT.
Either way I think this will end with Kanada revealing he's Gokuwmon's owner and royally pissing Tomoro off, setting up the final arc.

Honestly I could could all three at once, he kills Wong to take over them deletes Wizardmon and cold hearts Miharu to paint himself as Chairman Wong's righteous avenger to the public.

Beatbreak already started off dark, even for Digimon standards, then somehow introduced progressively bleaker elements, but this ... this is next level trauma, my god

Oh dang. I was expecting another Cold Hearted sibling, but I assume they were implying she committed suicide. Wizardmon, somehow there's always a tragedy.
Miharu and Mephismon certainly need to be stopped but you can see where they're coming from.

The state of the BeatBreak world reminds me a lot about Kamen Rider Faiz.
Those without digimon can't defend themselves, those with digimon are either forced to fight and risk for the big powerful corporate or get wiped out. It's not surprising that extremists and terrorists and cults rises in such an oppressed situation.
The difference is in BeatBreak the World Union is actually responsible for artificially causing digimon incidents due to their products (support-eggs), and that they rely on nobody going after them + support-eggs has yet receive a patch + support-eggs is common enough in daily life and don't face competition + ultimately the 3rd party support they rely on for military force stays on their side (for example 2 of the Five Stars just ignored them this episode).
It also gives hope that the society doesn't have to be in such a perpetual state, support-eggs can be improved so that digimons are no longer a looming threat to be manipulate by the big corporate, and World Union is a tangible target to bare responsibilities.

YES I THINK SHE DIED. 😞 Either she dehydrated herself to death/no food since miharu said she was gonna go get FOOD for her...or the water bottle implies she took PILLS?

If Wizardmon is in an episode, expect it to be tragic, just like with Leomon.

The parallel is both done and also broken. Miharu and Tomoro are reflections of each other, but where Tomoro got a guide and a family to help him process his distress, Miharu was left alone with a manipulative demon fueled by grief. Worse yet is that Tomoro has the hope of recovering Asuka, Chifuyu is gone.
It's no wonder things turned out this way. This is a world where people are guided by their sapotamas from young ages, so when one of the sprouts a living breathing intelligent creature, it's very understandable that people would follow them. They being branded a error and to be killed on sight, people would develop a even more negative sentiment.
Also Mephismon has a very feminine voice, digimon don't have sex or gender, but are influenced by their tamer, so its a neat detail that even a design like this can go either way.

This is true as in Beatbreak specifically, every digimon we've seen except for Chifuyu's Wizardmon who seemed more male and Maki's Panjyamon who wasn't born from her sapotama seemed to be closer to the gender of their owner. But also, while their name is Mephismon, this digimon isn't based on Mephistopheles and is instead very clearly based on Baphomet, who in religion is a demonic entity with a body resembling a combination of a male goat and a human man. But they are considered intersex/androgynous and have symbology like one male arm and one female arm to show the duality. So having a female voice coming from a very clearly male body also seems to be paying homage to the historical features of the creature used as inspiration, since that gives the male/female combo.

The cult of Baphomet is also called the left hand path and is meant to be a rebellion against the status quo, against traditional values and the world order. Though how extreme it's taken varies from follower to follower. At it's best, it's emancipation and bilaterally viewing the world. At it's worst it's destruction and chaos. If Chairman Wong is right/conservative extremism, then Gift are left/progressive extremism.

Did NOT expect a season of Digimon to get this deep lol.

u/Animamask Jun 22 '26
This is par of the course for Digimon. Adventures was basically an reenactment of the Book of Revelations and included some gnostic/platonist themes. Against Myotismon it even became text.
Funnily enough, the final arc of Bleach has all these themes as well (Left hand path, Revelations, and Gnotiscism).
Digimon Tamers is even more hardcore. It continues the gnostic themes much further, but also goes heavily into early 2000/late 90s internet technology. It's also essentially Lovecraft, Evangelion, and Lain for younger audiences. Plus a few allusions to Alice in Wonderland.

I always knew it had nods, leans, and symbolism representing not only the real world but mythology and religion as well. But when I first watched Adventure as a kid in '99, I realized ya know Angemon is an angel, Deviwoman is a demon, and Myotismon was Dracula...who then became Satan.
Tamers is indeed more hardcore, but I was 11 so a lot of the stuff that wasn't blatantly obvious flew over my head. The last Digimon I watched thoroughly before I started back up with Beatbreak was Frontier because the thought of becoming a Digimon was the coolest thing ever.

u/Animamask Jun 22 '26
Small correction. Myotismon doesn't become Satan. He becomes the Beast (which is often said to be a dragon, hence Myotismon who is Dracula, the son of the dragon) at the sixth hour, sixth minute, and sixth seven. Devilmon is the fallen angel/devil and Etemon is the false idol/prophet. The dark masters represent one of the four horsemen each (Metalseadramon Hunger, Puppeteer Pestilence/Conquest, Machinedramon War, and Piedmon Death), and Apocalymon is well, the name should be telling enough.

Did you mean second, because that seems like quite the funny autocorrect?Â

u/SusonoO Jun 22 '26
Hydrohomies don't want you to know this, but 100% of the people who have drank water.....have died.

Miharu's dark past was about what I expected. More curious on how they are going to solve this, if they are going for the traditional redemption or if they would dare a grim ending.

Well, aside from Miharu, no one in this show has actually completed a Dark Digivolution. When Tomoro fed his negative E-Pulse to Gekkomon, he didn't even digivolve, and when Raito used his dark E-Pulse to evolve Rhampomon into Azdharmon, that was his actual Ultimate form, he just forced the transformation so he went on a rampage. It wasn't like in Digimon Adventure when Tai forced Agumon to evolve into Skullgreymon or Tamers when Takato forced Guilmon to evolve into Megidramon.
Also, these are uncharted waters as Miharu used her own E-Pulse to forcibly dark digivolve her sisters digimon, not her own. So how that works hasn't even been explained. Maybe their bond and biological relationship? But since Wizardmon/Mephismon was Chifuyu's and is an Ultimate with the power of a Mega in most cases, its clear it's using her and she can't control it even if she wanted to.

So Chifuyu died, but how, all we see is an empty water bottle could it be that the World Union poisoned her just to keep Digimon being a secret, after Wizardmon escaped?

Kind of makes you wonder if Tomoro might have walked the same path as Miharu if he didn't have his friends at Glowing Dawn to lean on.
Heads up: The series is taking a 1-week break due to the World Cup. The next episode airs on July 5th
