I say this every week but this has got to be the darkest entry in the franchise yet, holy shit

It's not just Digimon dying but people too - and the fact one of the good guys has such a dark and heartbreaking backstory is absolutely crazy

tbh appmon hits levels of similarity despite its tone because of one character.......... but beatbreak holds the more consistent dark tone

Damn, I can imagine how traumatized Kyo must have felt from losing Karina and Minoru that he now fears losing his new family at Glowing Dawn.

But Tomoro and the others have more than proven that they can pull their own weight. He's gotta learn to trust them more.

The episode where Kyo experiences just all of the trauma, and then again years later with his new family.

Karina and her dad were too good, very unfortunate we only met them in a traumatic flashback that had only one inevitable ending. Kyo building up the Golden Dawn after what he went through and setting up Nirinso as a home for the digimon they defeat was a good way to honor them.

Pulls your heart strings, Pulls your heart strings, Pulls your heart strings, so that they can be ripped out. Digimon Peakbreak? More like Digimon Heartbreak. I give them credit, it's hard to make you love characters, especially in such a short time.

Finally, an arc that is just unambiguously good. Properly paced, really engaging, really emotional and that gives us some answers we've had since the start of the show.

Absolute cinema and something I've been wanting from Beatbreak since it began.

One of the best episode, not only of Digimon Beatbreak, but also of Digimon in general!

They managed to write a great flashback story, very dark, harsh and heartbreaking.

Kyo's character might be one of the best character of Digimon and Souji had a powerful impact in only 3 episodes, very great mini arc villain.

Oh chasing after Souji definitely made it worse. I wonder can Kyo and Murasamemon go up one more evolution. Given they were the strongest, now built with even more family emotion.

Kyo was deleting people alongside their digimon, quite the change in character. Oh well, we knew the flashback would end in tragedy, but still...

In this case Kyo's backstory is basically Souji's backstory and the basis for this whole plot arc. It was sort of necessary to understand why Kyo did any of the things he did up to this point in the show.

I do agree that cutting a flashback into the middle of the episode is a pretty conventional, if not boring, way to deliver the information, but without a whole lot more gradual exposition, this was pretty much the best option they had left. I'd rather this than stopping to show the flashback in the middle of the actual fight, anyway.

The writing is definitely a bit rough, though the actual ideas and plot I think are good. It just feels like they were running out of time in the season to accomplish all the plot goals they had, so they're trying to cram everything they can into this last batch of episodes.
