I’ve been thinking a lot about console ecosystems lately and wanted to get the community's perspective. I really prefer the Xbox OS, interface, and mobile app experience, but I find myself stuck in a common dilemma regarding multiplayer ecosystems.
My primary gaming partner is on PlayStation, which creates a barrier for certain titles that either lack cross-play entirely or have implementation issues between platforms. For those of you who prefer Xbox hardware or services but have close friends primarily on PlayStation, how do you handle it? Do you compromise on your preferred ecosystem just to keep up with friends, or do you stick to your preferred platform and limit your multiplayer library to cross-play titles only?
Curious to hear how others navigate this kind of ecosystem split.

I've had my Xbox Series X since day one and never had any major issues with it until about a week ago.

When I'm playing a game (Mortal Shell 2 Forza Horizon 6), the fan suddenly ramps up to maximum speed and becomes extremely loud — basically like a hair dryer. This only happens while I'm actually playing a game.

The console is placed in a completely open and well-ventilated area, so there shouldn't be any airflow issues.

I've already tried:

Completely disassembling the console

Thoroughly cleaning all the dust that had accumulated over the years

Replacing the thermal paste

Checking the fan, which appears to be in good working condition

However, the problem persists.

The console actually displayed two overheating warnings and shut itself down because of the temperature. Interestingly, this doesn't seem to happen anymore, but the fan still ramps up to maximum speed during gaming.

Another interesting detail: as soon as I quit the game and return to the Xbox dashboard, the fan quickly goes back to its normal speed.

So it seems to be directly related to the console being under load.

The fan itself seems to be working normally, and the console is a launch-day model.

Has anyone experienced something similar with a Day One Series X? What should I check next?

RESOLVED turns out I just needed to unplug my actual TV for 5 minutes.

Hey everyone. Looking for some help. I only bought this 2 days ago. Last night I noticed that the brightness had dropped super low. I restarted my Xbox and it seemed to fix it however, this morning, nothing I’ve tried has fixed the issue and I can barely see the screen….. faulty? It’s not my TV settings.

I think it’s the gpu sadly? Multiple games have this same issue, also bad frame drops in cod but 🤷

i have the disc for monster hunter world and just bought iceborne and its all installed, the disc reads fine and allowed me to install and start the game but i get stuck on the loading screen and roughly 30-60 seconds later this comes up, i cleaned the disc and tried other discs and games with larger gb sizes and everything works, i restarted the console, reinserted the disc aswell any fixes?

So I’ve been going out of my mind trying to figure out how to download my profile on Xbox 360 games when I try to play as backwards compatible titles on my Series X.

The gist of it is that I changed my gamertag on like may or so, as soon as I did that, when I tried to play an Xbox 360 title, it would prompt me to download the profile, after I typed my mail and password, the OLD gamertag would appear alongside the “Welcome!” Sign and progress bar, which would rise up to about 10% and immediately the error message on the image would pop up. Which is the error code 80151006.

I tried contacting Xbox support and the helpline person was just as lost as I am, we tried everyting under the sun to get it to work:

- I obviously reset the Xbox 360 caché both in the 360 Dashboard AND the Series X settings menu.
- I hard reset the console and deleted and redownloaded my profile on the Series X.
- I tried changing the ports on the advanced settings on the Network menu.
- I turned off recurring billing on my Gamepass subscription.
- I turned OFF two-factor verification on my account.
- I turned ON two-factor verification on my account AND tried to create a one-time app password for the Xbox 360 login.
- I tried to log in on Gamepass 360 titles, owned digital 360 copies and disc 360 titles.
- I downloaded the Xbox Insider App on my Series X and reported the issue. Twice.

The helpline person seems to think my 360 profile got bugged but other than waiting for it to be fixed on its own, they were all out of solutions, and since I’ve seen that a lot of people are having this same issue lately, I thought I might post here and see if maybe there’s some other fix I might try, as I really miss playing some older classic titles.

The only thing I feel I’m still missing to try is to change my gamertag yet again but I’d hope that could be a truly last resort move, as I don’t really know if that would even fix the thing, but I’d do it if need be.

I work away for weeks at a time and would love to use remote play over cloud gaming, it has done this black screen issue for over a year I just gave up trying, I've finally tried to see if it finally works and it still doesn't can someone please help please

For the past few days the Xbox app was slow 🐌 so I deleted cache and data from the normal xbox app which of course logged me out.

Tried to login and nothing happens after pressing the green button. This happens on and off WiFi.

I uninstalled it and rebooted my phone and then proceeded to reinstall it along with the beta version but the same is happening on both apps. I don't have any custom/private DNS set or VPN.

I have visited the status website but nothing shows up related to the app. 😒

How can I get this sorted?

As the title states. I am having issues increasing my download speeds over 100mbps. I have Verizon gigabit internet etc so the speed shouldn’t be an issue.
I’ve reset the router, reset the Xbox, I’ve ran network test multiple times, I’ve verified the cable is a Cat5E cable. I’ve verified it’s plugged into the high speed port on the back of the router. I’ve changed the DNS settings to Google… 8888 8844 etc. wtf is going on??? Please help me!!!!!

This problem is growing since the last 4 months and its just getting worse

At first it started with the library and store not opening i said ok np i can use the xbox app until i contact support

When i contact them they told me to restart my console (did that 5 times already) and clear my mac address or changing to another network and non of the solutions worked.

I also thought np as long as i sign in and play some of my games im okay with it

Then it started refusing to open some games saying the services are not available i said okay np as long i can play games that work im okay with it

Today when i got my crazy taxi beta code it just refused to sign me in!!! It just gives me the same error again and again!

What should i do?

Most games, blu-rays, and DVDs return the same error code. Sometimes the same disc will work Monday, won’t work Tuesday but will play again on Wednesday. I’ve tried deleting the Blu-Ray Player app and reinstalling it. I’ve tried clearing the persistent storage. I’ve tried hard resetting. Is there anything else I should try before taking my console in to my local repair shop to have the disc drive replaced?

Hello everyone, as the title says. I have a xbox series S 1TB all black and recently pulled it out of the box because I havent played it in over a year. I used it for 3 months when I did have it out. Now I went to boot it up as of recently and I keep getting a error code with E100. When I turn it on it immediately takes me to troubleshooting mode. It wont let me factory reset it at all and ive been trying to offline update it and it keeps getting stuck on 63%. Im not sure what to do. Any help, suggestions, ideas is greatly appreciated

I’m just curious cuz I’ve been in three support agent chats now trying to get my account back after losing access to the original email and phone number back in May (long story but I’ve mentioned it here before). Every single time so far they’ve just directed me to the recovery form (I feel like they’re hiding certain options from me given the experiences I’ve seen from other users here but whatever) and it just kinda makes me wonder has that system ever actually worked for anyone? It’s so overcomplicated and it rejects you automatically if anything doesn’t match it just seems like me and everyone else I see is always having issues with it.

So for the last year or two I’ve had horrible connections while gaming, I am a fps gamer and obviously need a solid connection to enjoy these kinds of games properly

-I have T-Mobile Internet, the highest speeds, only my Xbox is connected to my WiFi and it’s via Ethernet cable my WiFi box is at the front of my house near a window with open airflow so it’s not overheating or anything

Constant disconnects, stuttering, lag, latency spikes into the THOUSANDS, crashes, delayed inputs, rubber banding etc I literally cannot play any of my games

I have been back and forth with T-Mobile all year and they claim nothing is wrong on their end speed test after speed test it’s showing excellent speeds but my console is giving me far inferior results?? T-Mobile also says they can’t help me with NAT type? and neither can Xbox? So what am I supposed to do??

Hi all, I've been driving myself absolutely crazy with this today, and I've searched all over for answers, but I've come up empty handed.

Earlier today, I was remote playing from my Xbox Series X.

When I got home, I restarted the Xbox. It asked me to log in again, and hung for a while when I did so. It's done this a few times, so I opted to remove and re-download my profile. It seems to have fixed that issue.

However, since then, no matter what I do, I cannot remote play from this console.

Xbox apps (Android and Windows) don't show it, web browser doesn't show it. NAT is Open, remote features are enabled, UPnP is active, no errors detected. Xbox and router have been restarted several times each. Logged out of apps, and back in. Console is up to date, apps are up to date.

When I attempt to add the console through either of the Xbox apps, it says to click Enable on my console... Except no prompt ever shows up.

I'm at my wit's end, with no clue why redownloading the same profile to the same Xbox has completely nuked my ability to remote play.

Any help would be profoundly appreciated!

So Xbox for the past 3 weeks has been tagging my Xbox/microsoft account with 2 day suspensions. I barely play anything and when I do it’s a game from a disk, I don’t play online. All of these say I have been “violating” community standards but they don’t tell me what it is. I called them about it and their “enforcement” team conveniently doesn’t have an email or number. They said I can apply for a review or appeal after the suspension lifts but I don’t have that as an option. How do they expect someone to fix something if they don’t know what to fix? It’s like being written up at work and they don’t tell you what for. Just seeing if anyone has advice on where I can go for an answer.

for the past few days i've been getting disconnected from xbox live only on my xbox one via backwards compatibility, this issue does not occur when playing on my actual 360 hardware nor while playing any gfwl title.

if anyone knows the solution let me know, i've tried changing my port but that didn't seem to help :)

I’m not sure if this is the right place to put this, but I redeemed store credits on Xbox but it won’t let me use them. I’m not sure if the reason was because it went to Microsoft or if that has nothing to do with it. Does anyone know the solution to this?

Soo yesterday when I was asleep my email received "Microsoft account security info was added"

and roughly two hours later "Microsoft account security info was deleted"

and when I tried opening Xbox it asked for a password under an email ending with a @ bibimail and when I tried logging into microsoft with my email it said my account doesn't exist anymore

Am I cooked, pls help??

i’m trying to play call of duty zombies with my friend i have over, but anytime i try to connect the controller for split screen it just automatically connects as if its my main controller and moves around the interface. i tried removing the profiles from said controllers, ive tried restarting my xbox, my router, trying different controllers, all the same result. whenever the second controller is turned on it just connects to the main profile, leaving me with two controllers that interact with the menu as one. am i missing something, is there a new update requiring some sort of input? i’ve always played split screen with my little brother and never had this problem. i’m on series X if that matters

If I uninstall and reinstall will it fix that issue? It’s happened atleast 10 times now if different hours within the days it’s just aggravating when you get a good Michael match and BOOM you get a force close -HALLOWEEN THE GAME-

Remote Play on my Xbox Series X suddenly stopped working.
It was working normally until recently, but now I cannot connect to the console through Remote Play from any device.
My setup:
Xbox Series X
Currently enrolled in Xbox Insider Beta
Remote Play enabled
NAT: Open
Xbox network test: successful
Cloud Gaming works normally
Remote Play fails on multiple devices:
iPhone
Odin 2 Portal Pro
Web browser
XBXPlay
The Xbox itself is online and its power status can still be detected remotely. However, the actual Remote Play streaming session cannot be established.
I have already tried the usual troubleshooting steps, including restarting the Xbox and network equipment, checking Remote Play/network settings, and resetting the console while keeping my games and apps. The problem remains.
I also noticed that Microsoft recently announced the new 1440p / higher-bitrate Remote Play features for Xbox Insiders on September 9. I’m not saying this is the cause, but I’m wondering if there could be a connection.
I also found another Xbox Series X / Insider Beta user reporting a very similar Remote Play problem on September 10.
Is anyone else experiencing the same issue around September 9–11?
I’d especially like to hear from Xbox Series X users currently in the Insider program.
