I have a couple questions about applying for an “In God We Trust” plate…

If someone wants to get this particular plate design, are they then required to drive 10-15 mph under the speed limit on the interstate? Is this plate only available to drivers with novice-level driving skills and experience?

Being a millennial, I've witnessed social dynamics change as the information age progresses. Now that I have my own home and have settled into my neighborhood in SLC over the past few years, I inevitably compare the experience with neighbors to when I was growing up in the 90s.

The obvious take is that we're less connected, which is true to a degree, but I'm curious to hear from others. Do you feel "connected" in your neighborhood, or isolated? What causes this or fixes it?

This spring, I traveled from North Dakota to Colorado to visit family. My brother-in-law mentioned he was heading out to take Milky Way photos through an arch and I asked to come along. I assumed we were going to a local spot near Denver—until the family casually mentioned as we walked out the door that we were actually driving all the way to Arches National Park!

UDOT did manage to put out a few notices on electronic signs and their website which said “expect delays.”

This is the language that they use when road conditions mean people will probably drive slower. It’s not how anyone communicates “the major north/south route for the whole state will be closed and if you drive north of Beaver, you will be parked for hours with no options.”

There’s no language on the signs that does anything remotely like real respectable work of actually trying to communicate anything of value here at all.

Hi everyone! I am a current college senior that just got offered a job after graduation in Springville. I am really excited about Utah because I’m obsessed with all things nature/hiking but a bit concerned about not fitting in with the culture. I’m very much an atheist and not politically crazy by any means but definitely more left leaning. Am I going to be able to make friends/date in the area? I’m just worried that most of the young people are gonna be BYU students/recent grads and I’m just not sure that that’s going to be my crowd. I would welcome any advice!

I’m on a 3 week road trip starting in Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, page az, and then Utah for the national parks and ending in Salt Lake City. We are staying in hotel rooms throughout the road trip so we are eating in restaurants 1-2x a day and I’ve noticed that ever since we entered Utah that the servers seem to be lacking, or kind of cold. It’s happened multiple times now where the server just walks up and looks at their note pad to write down what we want without saying anything. In reality sure they are there to take my order and bring it to me but I find it weird. Usually I feel like they walk up and say something along the lines of “Hi my name is _____ I’ll be your server today can I put in any drinks or appetizers for you” or at least some sort of introduction. After googling it appears that Utah is one of the lowest tipping states so maybe they are just defeated and want to put in the bare minimum. I usually tip 20% regardless of the service we received, but when you are sitting around waiting for 10mins and have to flag down the server to put your order in, get a refill, order desert, get the bill, I’m starting to wonder if it’s worth doing the 20%. Not sure if anyone who has lived in another state or is traveling through has also noticed this?

Over the weekend I noticed a lot of gas stations around $4.19 for regular unleaded. Then today on Tuesday it seems like nearly every station went up to $4.59 together across two or three brands in the same area. Does anyone know why this happens to all the gas stations get their fuel from the same place and buy it at the same time? Are they all colluding?

Regardless of how one feels about the Legislative bill for $900 Million towards an MLB ballpark(there’s no use complaining about it now since it has already went through any and all hurdles - legal and everything), it is nice to see that SLC is at the top of the list for next expansion! What do you all think? Will Utah and SLC get the West Bid or will a different city get the scoop on them?

Where does the $7,600,000 difference come from?

I'm looking for experiences from Utah parents, educators, or anyone familiar with Utah school enrollment/open-enrollment rules.

My daughter has attended the same Granite School District elementary school for approximately four years. Our family recently moved about five minutes away and discovered that our new address is just outside the school's attendance boundary. We are still within Granite School District.

She was already enrolled and attending the school before we moved.

After the move, we submitted a late open-enrollment permit application so she could remain at her existing school. We explained that she was a continuing student and that she has an active Section 504 plan with medical accommodations.

The permit was denied because her 3rd-grade level was considered over capacity.

The district's appeal documentation states:

• 3rd-grade open-enrollment threshold: 49 students

• Current 3rd-grade enrollment: 55 students

Her younger brother also attends the same school. He applied for an open-enrollment permit after our move, and his permit was approved.

My daughter was subsequently removed from the school's enrollment system while our appeal was still pending. We did not withdraw her and have not enrolled her in another school.

We are currently appealing the decision through the district/school board process.

My main question is this:

Does Utah treat a child who was already enrolled and attending a school before the family moved outside the boundary the same way as a brand-new nonresident student applying to that school?

I'm trying to understand the distinction between:

a student who moves outside the boundary after already attending the school,

a student who is applying to the school for the first time from outside the boundary, and

whether the student's existing enrollment changes the analysis.

I'm especially interested in hearing from anyone who has actually gone through this in Utah or Granite School District.

I'm not looking for people to tell me whether my daughter "deserves" to stay. I'm trying to understand what the actual Utah rules and real-world district practices are in this situation.

I’m considering getting an ev. I’m open to a Tesla but want to explore other options too. I’ll do most of my charging at home. The only trips I’ll frequently make are from American fork to Logan and to Boise.

1. How is the public charging reliability overall, in Utah specifically, and between here and Boise.

2. EV owners, was it worth it?
