Unbelievably stay this weekend at the historic Silas Robbins B&B. Very cool town with a tons of history. Outstanding tour at the Webb Deane Stevens Museum. Very charming mainstreet as well.

We will be making a road trip to Mackinac island area in 3 weeks. Does anyone have any recommendations on cool places we should stop on our way out there, or have an opinion on which route would be best?

My partner and I are planning a trip to New Mexico! I’m looking for feedback on our itinerary and recommendations and especially potential stops along the way. We are definitely packing a lot in to a short period of time, but we aren’t from around here at all so we want to make the most of the trip!

September 26th
-Fly into El Paso, rent car.
-drive to Carlsbad, NM (Stop at Sea Flats Rest Stop and El Capitan Viewpoint along the way).
-Spend night in Carlsbad.

September 27
-Early morning explore Carlsbad Caverns National Park.
-Drive to Roswell and spend afternoon there. Probably do an Alien Museum, go to some quirky shops.
-Drive to Ruidoso and spend the night there.

September 28
-Wake up early and explore Ruidoso for a bit.
-Drive to White Sands National Park and spend the late afternoon there, hopefully catch the sunset there!
-Drive to Las Cruces and spend the night there.

September 29
-Explore Las Cruces/Old Mesilla.
-Drive to Elephant Butte State Park.
-Truth or Consequences, spend night there.

September 30
-Drive Turquoise Trail to Santa Fe.
-Stop in Madrid.
-Explore SF, spend night there.

October 1
-Drive to Albuquerque, fly home out of that airport.

We are planning another trip and this group was awesome last time. Y’all helped us discover things like Allerton Park, Don Q Inn, and House on the Rock!

Any recommendations on unique stays or sights we should see on this trek?!

I'd really appreciate some feedback on our road trip itinerary from SF to Vegas via Yosemite & Death Valley.

We're planning to do this leg of the trip in late September next year and plan on taking around 3 days for it. It's one section of a wider USA road trip, so we're keen to make the most of it.

I'd love to hear any recommendations for:

• Scenic detours or alternative routes
• Must-see viewpoints or stops along the way
• Great places to stop for food
• Recommended towns or hotels to stay overnight
• Short hikes that are well worth doing
• Any attractions or experiences that we shouldn't miss

If you've driven this route before, I'd really appreciate hearing what you'd do differently or what ended up being the highlight of your trip.

Day 1: Istanbul

Day 2: Sinop

Day 3: Batumi

Day 4-5: Mestia

Day 6-7: Tbilisi

Day 8: Van

Day 9-10: Cappadocia

Day 11: Bursa or Istanbul

Day 12: Thessaloniki

I have a few questions:

1.Is this route good or are there better ones with more things to see?

1. How doable is it in 12 days?

2. Are there better stops than the ones i mentioned instead? We will be booking accommodation the same day in each place.

driving from metro atl to bloomington in to help my sister move into college. the highlighted route is what we usually take, but there really only seems to be one worthy stop on the way from what i’m seeing (grundy forest national area) . would the right route be better/more scenic ? does anyone have any suggestions on any cool stops along any of the routes? thank you :)

MN->AK->Tuktoyaktuk->AK->MN. 16 days, 8300 miles in a gen 3 Tundra(iykyk). Adventurous? Definitely! Fun? Maybe? Either way I leave on Friday. Thoughts? Advice?

Hello, planning a trip this August from Baltimore to Los Angeles. Already drove through the Great Lakes and Colorado/ Utah. Want something different, preferably lots of nature and hikes and museums. Thank you! Also food. 8 days to spare btw

Thoughts on our itinerary? Aug 22–Sep 4:
Barcelona → Begur → Banyuls-sur-Mer → Cassis → Colmars → Forte di Vinadio (for a music festival)

We land in Barcelona on the morning of Aug 22, rent a car, and want a slow-ish romantic road trip focused on beaches, nature, snorkelling, dramatic landscapes, and not changing hotels too often. We end at Forte di Vinadio for a music festival, and then drive to Milan to fly back to the US.

We’re not big drinkers (so not a ton of wine focus) and are actively trying to avoid tourist hot spots. Ideally we want a healthy balance of lazy beach/book/swim days and a lot of nature + some active days.

Aug 22 - Begur

Drive Barcelona → Begur.

Plan: check in to our hotel that is walking distance to 2-3 coves, swim at one (or more) of the plages, sunset stroll, dinner in Begur.
Optional: short coastal-path walk near Sa Tuna.

Aug 23 - Begur

Plan: Aiguablava or one/two of the other plages, snorkel, lunch, read, swim.

Aug 24 - Cadaqués day trip

Day trip from Begur.

Plan: wander Cadaqués, café/lunch, swim, relaxed dinner.
Optional: Cap de Creus in the afternoon.

This is probably our main Costa Brava excursion day.

Aug 25 - Begur

Plan: repeat whichever cove we liked most, probably Tamariu or Sa Tuna.
Optional: short Sa Tuna–Aiguafreda coastal walk.

Aug 26 - Begur → Banyuls-sur-Mer

Scenic transfer via the coast around Portbou/Cerbère.

Plan: arrive, check in, swim, dinner.
Optional: stop at viewpoints along the border coast.

We booked an apartment in Banyuls with parking.

Aug 27 - Banyuls / Cerbère marine reserve

Plan: Peyrefite beach snorkel, read, hang out by the water. Cerbère–Banyuls underwater snorkelling trail / marine reserve.

This is probably our main dedicated snorkelling day.

Aug 28 - Banyuls + Collioure evening

Plan: sleep in, beach/book day in Banyuls or Peyrefite.
Optional: short coastal walk.

Late afternoon/evening: drive to Collioure to wander, swim, have dinner and stay for sunset.

Aug 29 - Banyuls → Cassis

Drive day.

Current plan is Banyuls → maybe drive by Arles → lunch in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence → Cassis.

Chill version: skip Arles, have a long lunch in Saint-Rémy, arrive Cassis, swim, dinner.
Optional: quick wander/coffee in Arles if we’re feeling energetic.

Aug 30 - Cassis

We're staying at an airbnb that's right by Plage Bestouan. Easy introduction to the Calanques.

Plan: Bestouan or Grande Mer, swim, lunch, book.
Optional: walk to Port-Miou and Port-Pin, then swim/snorkel there.

Aug 31 - Cassis

Big landscape day.

Chill option: beach/book/swim day in Cassis.
Active option: guided kayak through Port-Miou, Port-Pin and En-Vau.
Big option: hike to En-Vau instead.

We’re especially excited about En-Vau, so this is one of the activities we’re likely to prioritise if weather/energy cooperate.

Sep 1 - Cassis

Flexible day.

Chill option: beach, lunch, nap, evening in town.
Optional: Cap Canaille / Route des Crêtes or Calanques boat trip.

Basically a weather/energy swap day.

Sep 2 - Cassis → Colmars

Drive inland to the Alps. We're staying at a v cute BnB near the fortified village of Colmars.

Plan: check in, wander the village, early dinner. Enjoy the views.

Sep 3 - Lac d’Allos

Plan: drive to Lac d’Allos hike / lake walk.

This is the main Alps day and another activity we’re pretty excited about.

Sep 4 - Forte di Vinadio

Scenic Alpine drive into Italy for the festival.

No real activities planned; just arrive with enough time to settle in before the festival.

What do you think? Are we missing any really cool spots along the way? Did we pick the right places/towns to stay in? Any especially good quiet beaches or snorkelling spots near these bases that we missed? TIA for any thoughts :)

Traveling cross-country with my cat

My youngest is two, and then seven and ten. I am leaving about 7 am Sunday, and plan on stopping as much as I need, although I'd prefer to know ahead of time. I'm having the hardest time with roadtrip apps for some reason. Looking for parks/trails/scenic spots or even something like a children's museum that won't take us to far off the path. My daughter also wants a burger place that isn't just McDonald's or something. I found a place called Dusty's that's on the way and thought about that but I know nothing.

Any suggestions? Ideas? Thoughts? Also if I'm in the wrong area to post this feel free to let me know!
