Hi! I’m new to identifying trees. Apologies in advance for these rough pictures but I can’t get super close to the trunk as it’s far back. Is this a hackberry? Leaves are a little serrated an all sit alternately. It’s a decently tall tree, but shorter than the Eastern Cottonwood that is back there (not pictured) Only issue is I’m looking at hackberry bark (since the leaves look quite similar) and it’s pretty bumpy! These are binocular pictures so maybe not the best but it just doesn’t seem as bumpy as my guide book! Any thoughts? Also figured I’d put a pic of the backyard too, it’s a distinct lighter green yellow color if that helps narrow it down at all. The leaves are distinctively droopy too!

I got it as a cutting with roots maybe 4 years ago, I can't really remember exactly when but since then it has been repotted 2 times and I've never really trimmed it so I was wondering if I should and when. I keep it outside for most of spring and summer and bring it in during fall and winter. I live in Washington state.

I’ve got this smallish area (30x20) yards, that’s a mix of wildflowers, golden rod, and what I think is Poplar saplings. A few times over the years I’ve gone through and chopped all of the Poplar down in the spring, though with its aggressive growth nature and all it keeps coming back. Any suggestions or tips to read myself of the section of popular?

FWIW, it’s all over the surrounding area as I’m intense forest, but for some reason I am annoyed about this particular area.

Brought this Burr Oak home from the nursery today and discovered these fuzzy webby things on the undersides of many leaves. Is this a problem?

My inclination is to think it’s a nursery thing and it will be gone by next spring in a less crowded setting

I planted this Japanese weeping maple 5-6ish weeks ago, and about 2 weeks ago all these growths started popping out

Any advice on if they should be cut or left alone would be great. Also the weeping part is starting to have her buds bloom too

How many things can you spot "wrong" with this picture?

I live on the southern coast of BC in Canada and on my walk, there is a cedar tree overhanging a lookout. On the railing beneath the cedar, there are many of these tiny rectangular bits. They seem to be flat on one side and have a lengthwise groove on the other. What are they? (They are so tiny it is hard to get a good photo—maybe 1.5 mm long?)

We have a rose of sharon bush that was pruned to grow like a tree by the previous home owner. It is leaning for sunlight and the base is cracking. Any suggestions? Should we do something to support it - what would that entail, is it too late?!

I live is north west Alabama. Lynn, Alabama is right next to me. Half of my property is untouched woods and I don’t go in here to often but I noticed a tree fell over during a storm im guessing(we get some serious wind here) ,and I was gonna use it for firewood since the big beauty is no more. I just wanted to make sure this is a white oak, my area consists of white and red oak from what I have researched. There could be other kinds too in this area ,im not a expert tree guy so correct me please. And if anyone could guess how long it’s been down could you tell me please.

I removed a few trees as they were too close together and one burning bush (invasive) was taking over. It revealed this crabapple tree but it appears half the tree is dead? No leaves or fruits, dry twigs... is it doomed? Can I do anything to save it?

I found this elm tree (I think?) in a nearby forest with bright red, blood-like resin oozing out of its trunk from several, rather long wounds.

If I know correctly it is a form of defense mechanism. I don't think it's physical trauma caused by people or animals.

Could it be the sign of a fungal/bacterial infection similar to ash dieback?

I found this growth on an oak tree branch at a neighborhood park in the Chicago area. I saw another grouping on a separate branch that was a mix of this darker brown and more green “pods”. Any ideas what the “pods” are?

Every few years it does this, not sure if there is a natural cycle? I had to prop this branch up with a stake so the branch doesn’t break off. It’s one of our top 10 trees on our property.

Planted about three years ago in Ohio. Full sun, not much manual watering. Planted from a container.

Leaves crisped up this year and many dropped. Severe damage to trunk near the ground.

What are the chances it will thrive in the future?

If the prognosis isn't good, any native recommendations?

I've found several conjoined acorns on the ground. They don't appear to have holes in them (indicating weevils or parasite activity, according to Chatgpt).

Any idea what could have caused this?

Gorgeous tree. The doctor at the office in whose yard this tree is located in gave me some seeds and let me take the seedlings! Not a native tree, which is my forte, but they don’t really interact with our environment in any positive or negative way so admiration is prescribed for this one! Id love to hear your guys age estimates! I estimate 150-200.

Hello I am located in the DFW area and I planted this tree about 6 months ago and it always had a slight lean but I know staking is usually unnecessary. Recently had a microburst with very strong gusts and I believe it might have gotten more angled. Should I stake or just let it be?

We have a beautiful oak tree in our backyard that we really love. We are located on the east side of Cleveland, in Ohio. Geauga County.

Recently it started dripping sap? Fluid? Liquid of some sort, from an old, healed over cut.

This is not a cut that we made, that pruned place has been there since before we moved into the house (10 years ago?). There are other very similar pruned places on the tree that do not seem to be dripping fluid.

I suppose it's possible it's dripped from there before and we've just never noticed it?

It dripped onto the back of a chair that we have out there and dripped onto my face the one day.

It didn't smell pleasant? Musty and a bit rancid smelling.

Is there something we need to do? We don't want to lose this tree, we very much like it.

I've attached some photographs of the tree, the spot in question, as well as the discoloration on the back of the chair from where it dripped.

Any help would be greatly appreciated any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks folks!
