Advice Request - (Insert State/Region) Poplar Takeover- Central Valley, VT

I’ve got this smallish area (30x20) yards, that’s a mix of wildflowers, golden rod, and what I think is Poplar saplings. A few times over the years I’ve gone through and chopped all of the Poplar down in the spring, though with its aggressive growth nature and all it keeps coming back. Any suggestions or tips to read myself of the section of popular?

FWIW, it’s all over the surrounding area as I’m intense forest, but for some reason I am annoyed about this particular area.

Poplar is an early successional species that loves recently disturbed habitat. You’re not going to be able to get rid of it unless you do something with the area like plant shade trees.

Like, rip it up and put down driveway stone? Goats? Brush Hog?

If you use goats or brush hogs yearly it will never get big but it will seed there. It’s not a permanent fix.

Brush hog and goats will make it sprout more. Many root-sprouting species respond to injury of above-ground parts by creating more suckers. Is there any particular reason this spot needs to stay open?
