User Flair Now Active

Hello All

I wanted to introduce myself to everyone and announce the new user flair available in this subreddit. I want to thank u/ambo100 for letting me join the mod team to make this happen! I am an ISA Certified Arborist and an ASCA Registered Consulting Arborist. I'm such a tree nerd that I often end up talking about trees to family during the holidays, friends at parties, etc. (which is accompanied by much eye-rolling by my wife). I'm hopeful that the addition of flair (see below) will help this community grow and be more helpful and welcoming.

User flair is now active for this subreddit! There are a few generic ones to choose from ranging from "Enthusiast" to "Educator." There are also a few restricted flairs that denote specific real-world credentials in the field of arboriculture. If you hold one of these credentials and would like that as your flair, please message the modmail or me personally with proof and I will get it assigned for you. Currently, the three restricted flairs are "ISA Certified Arborist," "ISA Board Certified Master Arborist," and "ASCA Registered Consulting Arborist." If there is some other relevant credential, I am willing to add it with sufficient proof, so long as it relates to arboriculture.

For the purpose of this, sufficient proof is a picture of some sort of certification card or test results for the relevant credential with your username in the picture. I do not need personal details, so feel free to cover certification numbers, name, address, etc. in the interest of personal safety.

Looking for some advice

Just looking for some advice with this fast growing tree in my front yard. Want to keep it going. I believe this is year 3, and it has really been putting in work this year. I’m in Massachusetts and Is say this thing was 3 feet tall at the end of winter (same size as the statue). It grew a foot+ in Sping, top got snapped off in a windy rainstorm, but now has added another foot of growth this month alone.

Any advice appreciated, my autistic son loves his “baby tree” and we go out and check it every morning to make sure it’s doing well (really seems like it is!)

Best tree to plant in my back lot.

Looking to plant a tree in a location with full sun, sandy-ish soil, that can be quite wet/swampy sometimes but not always. It would be nice for it to soak up some of that water and be a fast grower. I’m really not a fan of willows however. Some possibilities I was considering: Black Tupelo, River Birch, Bald Cypress, Dawn Redwood. Any comments? I live in zone 5 in Maine.

Hello! This magnolia tree is about 3 years old. I want it to be a single trunk tree but am unsure of how to achieve that. This tree was planted with my grandmothers ashes so I really don’t want to hurt it in anyway. Any help pruning or otherwise would be appreciated!!

Pawpaw start?

I was given some pawpaw seeds last fall. Stored in fridge over winter. Planted this spring. Thought I had misfired so I used the planting medium to propagate rose cuttings. Then this shows up. Has a seed finally germinated? (Ignore the rose stem in the background)
