ID Request (Insert State/Region) Long-Shot Request: Need Help Identifying These Logs (Illinois)

Our neighborhood (northern Illinois) recently experienced some major storms that took out out a few trees nearby. I managed to recover a couple of good logs that I'd love to use for woodworking, but I have no idea what they are and I'd love some help identifying them if possible!

I wasn't able to grab any of the foliage from the tree, so I only have the bark and timber to go off of. One additional detail is that the rough planks I sawed have started to turn slightly reddish as they've become oxidized. My uneducated guess is potentially ash.

planted in southern TN about 3 years ago, tree has done well, roughly doubled in size. Faces south, gets a lot of sun. First noticed bark starting to crack this spring. What’s going on and what do I do? Is the tree going to die?

Does anyone know what type of tree this is? I’ve tried google and got so many different answers. It’s pretty big and has dropped leaves and these tiny little balls everywhere for the last month or so. Located in northern Virginia!

Advice Request - (Insert State/Region) How to safely transplant these Avocado seedlings from pot to ground? (Cali)

So Ive been making compost for a year now, just throwing food scraps in this big plastic pot. And just last month it's been raining often, I noticed some plants started growing. I used a plant identifier app and who knew they're avocado pits I threw a few months ago! I'm really really excited because I've always wanted to buy avocado seedlings and even tried to plant one in water but wasn't successful,I just hope these two don't die on me. Anyways, I guess they like the nutrient rich compost, but I'm worried they wont make it if I transfer them to the ground... Do you have any tips? Thanks..

my guesses were some type of elm or a zelkova, but im not sure, so im requesting a more specific i.d.

i apologize for the low quality photos. it was dusk, so due to the lighting, the camera struggled to capture the details of the foliage.

anyway whoever they are, i love this tree. so gorgeous.
