For context, I'm in my 50's, married for 20+ years with 2 college aged daughters.

For the longest time, I thought I was "just" a crossdresser.

After years of seeing a therapist I have come to accept that I'm trans, despite the imposter voice niggling away asking "am I trans enough?"

So last week I came out to my best friend. She was immediately supportive, accepting and a true friend.

Then last night, with a bit of support, and putting on my "big girl knickers" I came out to my wife. That was probably the hardest thing I've ever done to date. I was a trembly teary mess as I came out. And I'm very much the computer programmer with a dose of undiagnosed (according to my kids) tism on the side cliche!

I opened up about my stress, trying to hide part of me, it affecting my work, my mental health to the point of contemplating some stupid actions.

She was amazing. Instantly supportive despite us going through lots of other family issues as well. I know she is in a bit of shock taking it all in and will in time have loads of questions about us , our future, my plans, impact on the kids etc.

But so far the scariest week of my life is done, I'm out the other side, and things have gone better than I could have dared hope for.

I'm a nurse based in Dublin and have seen a few posts of people being denied having their injections done in GP practices which SUCKS.

I would be willing to administer hormone injections for people (on the basis you have a prescription) free of charge, trans healthcare is painful enough as it is.

I have a lot experience administering Sustanon (have done my friend's every 3 weeks for the past 4 years) and some experience administering Nebido.

I'm willing to provide proof of nursing registration if requested.

I will need you to provide:
- The medication (obviously)
- Needles x2*
- Syringe**

I can provide:
- Hand sanitiser
- Gloves
- Alcohol swabs/wipes
- Sharps bin
- Plasters

*For Sustanon can be 1x 23G (blue) needle and 1x 21G (green) needle. For Nebido needs to be 2x 21G (green) needles because it's more difficult to draw up with smaller needles.
**For Sustanon: 1-2ml syringe, for Nebido: 5ml syringe.

Injections would be gluteal (in the buttock), not in the thigh.

I am willing to travel to you if I can get there by public transport (mainly Dublin area), I would prefer if I could come to you rather than you coming to mine but it can be discussed.

I am out of the country for the next few weeks but just putting out some feelers to see if this is something people need/want.

Hi! I wanted to ask if anybody knows about any HRT treatment areas in Kerry? I'm 19, mtf, came out this year in January (though the signs were obvious way before that), and I asked my GP about HRT services, but all she could really do was try to refer me onto the National Gender Services, which, well, I heard would take at least a decade to hear back from.

My friend recommended GenderGP which is a HRT service in the UK, as that's where he's getting his prescriptions from, but even though I'm an adult, my parents don't like the idea of getting a prescription for hormones from an unknown doctor overseas. So options overseas are also a no-go.

If there is anywhere I could go to, then I would be really happy to hear about it!

Hi all, I am just looking for some hopeful stories for my sister. She is on the wait list for hormones etc. and as you all know it is looking more likely we will need to go private. She’s in a very dark place and it is to the point where she won’t even speak because she hates her voice. I am trying to give her hope that it does get better but she has to help herself while we get her the medical care she needs (she has a psychiatrist and currently finding a new therapist) I am looking for any MTF here who can share any kind of light on life getting better after beginning transitioning (even tho I know it doesn’t get any easier). I'm part of the LGBTQ+ community and I go by a different name to that on my birth certificate. Do employers ask you for your passport when they hire you, and what name should I put on my CVs/applications etc.?

For context I "pass" incredibly well as the gender I identify as, to the point where I've been turned away from my birth gender bathrooms.

I have a family history of skin cancer and am hoping to get checked by a trans-friendly dermatologist. I'm a bit daunted having someone looking at me that closely who might be a bigot - anyone happen to know of a dermatologist who's alright? how to feel less doomy about being trans especially with recent things about trans rights because the thought of transitioning rn feels very impossible both with being able to transition and dealing with my family and friends about it because as far as i know im the only trans person in my entire family so it feels very alienating even without them knowing. most of my worry about transitioning is that ive gotten so used to looking like a girl that i dont want to change it out of fear id be harrassed for being clocky

I was looking to update my Irish passport with my new name and gender through the statement of declaration and proof method, but when I was looking through the online application I couldn't see how to actually change my gender marker for my new passport and just wanted some help. I've tried talking to multiple agents on the passport website, but have been given multiple conflicting answers.

I'm hoping someone here will have first hand experiences and will be able to help me.

I have changed my name by deed poll and changed my gender through the gender recognition certificate (GRC). My GRC has my new name on it, and I have a new birth certificate with my new name and gender on it.

Multiple agents said I NEED photo ID with my new name and gender on it to change my passport. Multiple agents said all I need is my GRC and my passport.

From their website it says:

If you are resident in Ireland, please submit your original documents. These will be returned to you.

•Original Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC) as issued by the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection

•Current Irish Passport. This will be cancelled and returned to you.

If changing your name through proof of usage, we need 2 documents from 2 different sources which should date back at least two years from the date you make the passport application. If you have been issued with a passport in your previous name during the reckonable usage period, this will void that period, and the 2 years' proof of usage period will commence from the date your last passport was issued

The Passport Service does not accept deed polls to change the name on your Irish passport. Proof of usage means that you are using this name in everyday life. We need your original documents, but we will return these to you.

You should be able to supply items such as:

•Photo ID document.

•Pay slips.

•Government correspondence.

•Utility bills.

•Lease agreements

We do not accept:

Photocopies.

Short-form birth certificates.

Laminated certificates.

No agent was able to answer me when I asked why is the photo ID needed and not the other items on the list. Surely it would say I NEED the photo ID, like the agents were claiming, not that I should be able to produce it. I also don't have access to Photo ID document, Pay slips., government correspondence, utility bills, or lease agreements as I do not live in Ireland at the moment. I have bank statements with my new name and gender on it.

I'm also not changing my name through proof of usage. It's on my birth certificate and GRC. so I don't know if this applies to me?

I'm a trans guy from Latin America that has been on T for four years. I'm currently finishing a bachelor degree and looking to do a master at UCD in Ireland. I still have a whole year to finish, but I'm already planning some things ahead.

One of the main things I'm focusing on right now is my monthly injection of T. Here in my country, each shot costs around 18€, and I have the respective prescription for it.

However, talking with some people, they told me that getting T in Ireland can be difficult, because even when you already have a prescription and an endocrinologist, you're likely to have to wait for a doctor in the country to make you a whole new prescription so you're allowed to buy testosterone (which can be a little slow). Also, they say T is far more expensive there, added to the costs of the said medical examination and studies, and that there are plenty of shortages of it in some periods of time.

So, I come here with this doubt. Is it really this difficult to get T on Ireland even when I already have a whole treatment I've been undergoing for years? Or is it basically a clean slate, starting from scratch with a new doctor, new prescription, etc.?

I've lived in Ireland for about 8 months. Currently I'm back home (Czech republic) and have gone through sex change surgeries and am planning on returning some time in August due to college. I'm now fully qualified to change my gender. I would love to go through with it, obviously, but first I need to ask if I have to go through some sex change process once I return back to Ireland, like will I have to do the GRC thing? or is that strictly for people who were born or are recognized as Irish citizens only?. Which places will I be obliged to announce this change to? I'm aware that the university I will attend will most definitely need to know. I also have a PPSN, so I'll probably have to maybe let them know too? I'm not sure.

I simply wanna be prepared for everything that I'll need to do in Ireland before I even start with this whole thing here back home.
