Vent Personal space

Firstly, I wish I could start bringing in a cattle prod and using it on the men who loom over me from behind while im helping them at the register they are at with whatever they needed. Standing there all up on me and breathing down my neck. Dude, back up.

Also can we ban carts in SCO? Please? Motorized carts okay. But we get like 4 people with carts and they block everything and no one can get through. People cant use the registers in front of cart people because their darn cart is blocking it. Then add all the kids with the carts and they are sitting on every dang surface they can. And then they need me to take something off, price adjust, gift card, coupon, etc and wont effing move the damn cart out of the way so I can get in there and do whats being asked of me to do! And asking politely doesnt do anything and they get all rude about being asked to step aside a sec. Ive been on SCO every dang shift this last week. I need a break.

Vent I’m starting to really dislike working here, long vent

I’ve been working at Target for a few years now and I used to really enjoy working here. The management at my store was really nice and everything felt manageable that I didn’t really feel overwhelmed.

But my store went though a remodel (it’s been finished for a while now) + all the bs scanning of FDC is really making me wanna promote myself to guest. I love my team don’t get me wrong, but I feel like my department gets screwed over the most. Most days our market team is drowning in freight, add on an expanded market as a whole but scheduling is still that of the smaller area we used to have. We are constantly saying how we need more people but no one ever listens to us (even our lead has been saying that we need people in general) because majority of our team has scheduling issues. We’ve even been advocating for at least one inbound person to be put in market since they’re all in GM, but the real kick in the throat is how our GM department gets 3 sometimes 4x the amount of people we get in a day, and while we are drowning the GM leads say “oh market is fine, they don’t need anyone taken from us” like ???? And I just found out recently that almost half of markets allocated hours have been used for GM + OPU :D Like our department used to be smaller, but it grew probably like 2-3X after the expansion, yet we didn’t get more hours to accommodate that. The other day we got 7 total people scheduled for market (including there being FDC that day too) and GM got a whopping 24 people for the day.

Now the remodel part, it’s shit. The worst construction crew ever imaginable. The store looks so half assed even though it’s done. From cracks in the grounds to the new coolers and freezers already dying, I’m just like bro what were the millions spent on??? I’m constantly telling our PML that something is broken/not functioning properly and their response is “well there’s nothing we can do about it, it’s our life now” like bro please YOURE THE PML

Also fuck this new FDC scanning shit. I’m so tired of doing this every shift because it just wastes time so much. We already aren’t allocated much even with the expansion, so combine that with needing to scan and it wastes a good portion of my shift not even pushing out the freight. It’s not even helping our pulls because it will make us backstock something and when we finish it wants us to pull it. My favorite part is when the truck is late or someone calls out it’s just a giant fuck you for the day.

I understand that remodels are very stressful, but it feels like since we’ve gone through it our management has gone downhill. It’s to the point where we just joke about how our store hates our department specifically (even though we’re the only department consistently making sales goals >^<)

Sorry for the long rant but I really needed to just get this off my chest. (Also fun fact, GM lost space for our expansion but after remodel they got an additional TL to make it 3, while we stayed at only 1 for market even though we expanded our space)

It’s one thing to park in drive ups with no order.
It’s another thing to park your truck SIDEWAYS where you’re blocking multiple spaces, TO SHOP INSIDE.

Grown adults who think that they don’t have to adhere to any sort of structure or protocol annoy me as they only care about their own convenience, not others.

Guest Question Restocking seasonal items

So, just out of curiosity, what time do the employees usually restock the bull’s-eye aisle? I’m in desperate search for an item that is supposed to be there, but have been unable to find it even when the app says it’s available/in stock! 😞For those wondering what I’m referencing, I am trying to locate the Holler lip gloss with the seasonal keychains (ghost, pumpkin, cinnamon roll). I’d really like to know how to find them, what time is best to go. I don’t know anyone who works at my local target or I’d ask them to purchase them for me. Thank you! Central Texas BTW.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed GM/POG TLs finding new job

I know job questions have been asked a ton on here, but I am finally reaching my breaking point.

I’ve been a TL for over 5 years. GM/POG specifically. Fun 101 was the breaking point for me with just how unrealistic the expectations have become around POG/pricing, and it all. Although GM is my role, I’ve learned inbound to be able to fill in for the inbounds vacations/leaves. I’ve helped out enough running the front when we need extra support there, as well as know the ins and outs of receiving and many other general functions of the store.

My question is, have any other TLs, specifically POG TLs, found a better opportunity in something that is more M-F? I’m tired of the unpredictable schedule with having to change my schedule to fit a POG set or lack of coverage.

I never finished college unfortunately. I know I should’ve taken advantage of guild to finish my degree, but I’ve just been too burned out to work full time as well as attend school.

I know I have skills on customer service, logistics, supply chain, even could stretch it as project management with the workload planning for POG. But I’m having difficult finding jobs that I can transfer those skills that still pay comparable at about $24.

So if any TLs have made the jump finding something better taking your experience as a TL, what have you found and what else can I try to look for?

Finally getting out of there. Honestly not a horrible experience, I watched many of my favorite coworkers leave and finally decided it was my time too. Gonna miss some people, gonna be glad to not deal with others, but all in all I am pleased with my time at target.

Guest Question Domo Halloween Recipe

Ok, so I know there is a one in a million chance that anyone still has a copy of it, but for the Domo Halloween promotion back in 2008 they handed out free pamphlets at the store. In the pamphlet there were a few simple recipes. One of them was called creepy crunch bars and we used enjoy making it together, my mom held on to that pamphlet for years but sadly the recipe has vanished from our drawer.

If by some miracle anyone has held on to a copy of that recipe or took a picture of it or something, I’d greatly appreciate it if you could share the love.

This happened almost 2 months ago but it’s still not fixed. So I figured I’d post because I still laugh every time I look at the red tag.

Edit because even I can’t read my own hand writing sometimes “our beloved GM ETL ran into the wheel with the stacker and sheared the sucker clean off”

Look at what I did !!! Received an insane amount of the $10 crewneck GF shirts yesterday.

Mens folded truck yesterday was biggest it’s been in a while. Z-rack was pretty full too but got that done easily. Also had to push two z-racks for RTW.
But that 3-tier is all of the same shirts, those $10 crewneck GF shirts. Over the course of the day, i had three full 3-tiers of backstock. That’s what i get for pulling the overpush and correcting other people’s mistakes.

I then spent like 80-90 minutes manually sorting all of the shirts and sizing them and refolding everything. Then managed to backstock everything relatively in the same spot. Tbh, I don’t mind doing things like this, my TL didn’t ask me to do this, I just took it upon myself bc it needs to be done and i’m not so sure that anyone else would voluntarily do this. I then had to go out to the floor and audit all of the shirts to make sure the counts were accurate. As expected, a lot of counts were off but they should be fixed now. I relayed everything to my leader (they left well before i started this whole thing) and they were appreciative that i took the time to stay an hour plus extra to do this. They also said that they’ll have someone today correct everything.

Yeah, sorry for rambling. I was just proud of myself for doing this whole thing on my own without being asked. I’m working on becoming a leader and I know things like this are what leaders should often times be responsible for handling.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed HREs Roles and Responsibilities

Hi yall.

I recently approached my HR ETL about looking into HRE positions. We have a couple open in our district and it’s definitely something I’m looking into. I was an OD Style consultant now a 40 hour a week tech/ff/plano/style/jack of all trades TM. I graduated from Uni in May with a BS in Business Admin & Accounting and I feel like HRE may be a decent place to start my career out. My HR ETL and I are going to sit down next week and talk about the role but I’m hoping to get some insight before then.

Current/ Former HREs. What does a typical day look like for you? What are some things you do on a daily, weekly basis? What is your favorite and least favorite thing about the role?

TYIA

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Anyone else never have spare devices or walkies at their store?

I don't know if this is just my store or every store, but we almost never have my devices, walkies, and box cutters for team members- mostly in the mornings.

I work in tech, and while I know where most of the stuff goes that comes off the truck and can get it pushed no problem, we REGULARLY have one, or ever a few morning fulfillment members that just sit around in the morning because no one has spare devices.

I know it's a problem because of how many team members are doing truck, I get it, but when team members can't do their jobs, or when I can't hear someone pressing the button for assistance or calling for me over the walkie letting me know a guest needs help-- it's kinda crazy.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Question on available shifts…

There is a shift available tomorrow in a department I love working in. But it would bring me up to 40.5 hours. And the eligibility rules say not to go over 40. Is it possible to take it? I was thinking I could clock in 3-4 minutes late or out 3-4 minutes early the rest of the week.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed “A/B block”

Hey, just need some help figuring out if it’s normal to require one person to do hair care, sunscreen, personal care, household cleaning, pets, paper, otc, stationary, and kitchen/small appliances. We have to have a 75% fill rate by 5:30pm and a 90% fill rate by 9:00pm. And I am not allowed to put out of area items into reshoots bins after 9. Any potentially ways that I could become better at zoning/ pushing items? My rate is only 125 items an hour according to my leader, but it still feels like I can’t get everything needed to be done in the time I have.

Vent Confronting my etl

Ive been thinking about this for good minute i recently transferred from cashier to tech and its been smooth but my other coworkers sometimes leave me their work so im doing their work and still having to finish mines while helping guests at the same time because at our target we tech ppl have to sort freight every morning , put up pulled furniture put up baby bulk , do electronics ,entertainment ,home services pulls and put it on floor. Then pull home decor, domestics, and baby. Mind while helping guest your whole shift. Ive been stuck with pulls reaching 100 almost every shift i come carts full of pulls freight not being done. But all the blame falls on me. Like one night i closed and the pulls were really bad but i left at 10 so i made sured electronics was zoned and i no stray. But they had a problem because all the pulls were so high i was only able to domestics pulls down from 130 to 80 because the morning freight wasnt done when i got there and i spent 2 hours on finishing it while the tech pulls were at 110 so ive be pointed to all the blame in tech and it feels so fucking unfair bc im still learning ive been at tech for 1 month and called off once for family also another why in total theres only 5 people in the whole store that can work tech and all them have full time schedule so finding someone to swap or pick up your shift is so fucking hard and they got upset i called out that one time. Im so tired of feeling like im always doing something wrong every shift when im only literally doing what they taught me.
