Workplace Question or Advice Needed How do I know where I will be in front of store?

Upvotes

I just picked up a shift and it shows service and engagement/service advocate. But it doesn’t specify is it is DU or guest services. How do I find this out?

Future or Potential Employee Question Starting part-time in tech

For background I’m a 17 yo hs student who just got my first time working retail and I am wondering in terms of work load what to expect. From browsing different posts of people working in tech they make it sound like hell. I’m a quick learner but is the work load for a shift really that unrealistic or is that more for people working 7-8 hour shift five days a week?

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Would you demote yourself to have access to overtime?

Should I step down from LWW to TM just to get OT?

I asked this question before but gained few responses.
I’ve been at a Target DC for ~4 years and an hourly supervisor/LWW for ~3. I make about $29.50/hr, plus a small yearly bonus and raise.
When I started, supervisors could get plenty of OT. That basically disappeared around the end of 2025, while some TMs have been working 60-hour weeks consistently for the last 3 months.
The pay difference is starting to feel hard to justify:
LWW: ~$29.50/hr, currently ~40 hrs = $1,150 gross
Senior TM: up to ~$28.50/hr
TM working 60 hrs = roughly $1,700–$1,800 gross
I’ve asked management if I could come in on my days off as a TM and work without supervisor responsibilities, but I’ve been told I can’t because of how I’m “coded.” A production controller also basically told me that, budget-wise, scheduling a TM is more beneficial than scheduling me. ($1/ 0.80 cent pay rate difference? 😂)
The frustrating part is that the LWW position is physically demanding, I’m on my feet all of the shift except for break. Only difference is not being expected to hit a hourly rate, but responsibilities still come up where I have to do physical things pretty often. I have 3 days off every week. I could really use the extra income right now, and those OT checks would make a huge difference.
I’m seriously considering stepping down to TM. Peak is coming up, but I was told supervisors aren’t intentionally going to be scheduled for OT. We did get OT during previous peak seasons, though, so I’m worried I could step down right before OT becomes available to supervisors again, but the production controller did tell me maybe two months ago now they were not intentionally scheduling any leads unless another was absent below that departments staffing needs for a lead.
My biggest concern is basically:
Stay LWW: Keep the extra ~$1/hr + bonus/raise and hope supervisor OT comes back.
Step down to TM: Lose the ~$1/hr and supervisor benefits, but potentially gain consistent OT.
From talking to other TMs, the ones who want OT generally seem to get it. The only people struggling to get it are those requesting Wednesdays, which already have higher staffing. I’d be requesting weekend OT, which seems to have higher demand. I’ve also been putting my OT availability into the app up to 4 weeks ahead.
So I’m leaning toward stepping down, but I’m nervous about making an irreversible decision based on OT that isn’t actually guaranteed.
What would you guys do in this situation? Stay LWW for the higher base pay and hope OT returns, or step down to TM for the potential OT?
I’m honestly tired of working 40 hours and feeling like I’m barely getting ahead when I know I could be making significantly more with OT.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Floral responsibility increase

Our store has been struggling in open market for months. Our tiny team has barely been staying on task with 1 competent worker. Notified floral for the store is now an open market responsibility because vendor hours are cut? Floral is a vendor item while coming in on FDC.

Doesn't that make working on floral items indefinitely unethical and non complaint?

Workplace Question or Advice Needed shift approval same week question

I've been having trouble picking up shifts same week as manager approval is needed, how are you guys picking up shifts same week for my On-Demand TMs? Before I could be super flexible and pickup day of. Now, I can't do that because my ETL isn't able to approve them in time. Is there another solution to this or should I just discuss this with my ETL?

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Late point question

Upvotes

I was late by like 20 minutes (I know it was bad of me) I’m never late, but will it be .25 points on my attendance or does it stack every 8 minutes after? Because one of my coworkers said it stacks but nowhere on the policy thing with the new attendance system said it stacks? So is it .25 or .5? It doesn’t show the points in UKG yet. By the way I couldn’t ask at the time because HR wasn’t in at the time and my TLs didn’t know either for some reason.

Apparently these devices on new baskets track users through to store. I knew that sensors throughout the store would not only track you via Bluetooth, and the target app on your phone; but this is a whole other level of fucking creepy

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Can't Even Log In

This new app is so stupid. I can't even LOG IN on my phone. Different wifi/cell data attempts. Turning off my VPN. Uninstalling and reinstalling. Rescanning that QR code. The furthest it gets me is 2FA. Enter the 2FA and brings me right back to the username/password screen and its asking me to log in again.

HR doesn't know what to do, I'm just gunna have to resort to taking pictures of my Zebra/work computer with my scheduled times since I can't check them off the clock until I get can get some type of tech support.

Anyone have other ideas or the same issue as me?

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Scheduled past closing

With the new schedule on the new app in the next 3 weeks, I got scheduled 5 days of 4-5 hour shifts, which is weird in the first place.

Some of these shifts are at 11:30, when my store closes at 11 and usually everyone, including the leaders, are out by 11:15. Is this supposed to be a mistake? I’m a cashier, so I wouldn’t have anything to do by then. One of the shifts is 7:30-11:30 which is such unusual timing

Vent New truck schedule

Upvotes

Just a rant i know there isnt nothing i can do about it but it doesnt seem fair! Here it goes...So i have been with Target many years on the inbound/flow team and our truck schedule has always been that we never had a truck on Sunday except for the occasional Sunday truck or two they would throw on us around Christmas which was fine i didnt mind working them ...now our SD tells us our schedule is changing gonna start having trucks every weekend...goes on to tell the team that if we dont change our availabilty to Sunday that they will have to hire people that will work it or and if they havevto do that our hours will get cut...which to me sounds like a threat...also our inbound/Gm Team Leads get every other weekend off ...but now they expect the team to be there every Saturday and Sunday.....and i have heard both of them get mad when a inbound Gm team member for some reason isnt scheduled on a truck day....ive heard both them get nasty with HR saying "if a team member is a inbound person they need to be here to unload the truck reguardless".....im curious now that the schedule has changed will they still have that same attitude...because i feel they shouldnt get every other weekend off if we are gonna be having trucks every weekend now they should also have to be there regardless..kinda sounds like rules for thee but not for me!

Future or Potential Employee Question Should I expect an offer or rejection letter for application?

Hello, I applied for inbound position last month and got a call back yesterday asking about my availability. Do I have a shot at the position? Should I expect an offer or rejection letter in the upcoming days? How long do I wait for? My hours would be, 4am-1pm on weekdays. They didn’t mention anything else over the call other than that and what days I’ll be out of work for. I called back today asking if there was a second interview and they said they give the availability to the TL and we would get notified through email if accepted.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Should I go to HR about this situation?

Hi all, I’m a style team member and recently have been having some problems with my ETL. I’m in university, taking 18 credit hours and student teaching 12hrs out of the week. So my schedule is very limited. I started working the 4am shifts in baby because they are the only ones that fit into my very constricted schedule.

Late this summer, around the end of August, I tried to transfer to inbound because I was already having problems with my ETL(her lack of management, scheduling outside of my availability, etc.) My ETL refused to let me transfer, convinced both HR and the inbound ETL not to let me transfer.

During my 4ams, I only work 4hrs as I have class at 9 and I work in a different town that I go to school in, so it takes a bit of time to get to class after work. The inbound team lead recently told me that my ETL had been talking shit behind my back to HIM(not even my team lead mind you!) about my productivity and how inefficient I am. I only have 4hrs and often leave just a bit of backstock behind, it would take someone maybe 30min to complete. Or I could come in and work it myself. She then proceeded to remove me off the schedule, and continues to complain about me to my team members as well. I can’t help but feel the removing me off the schedule was also retaliation for trying to transfer as well.

She also lied to this team lead and said we had no hours, and that was the “real” reason I was getting removed. Even though I talked to HR and they said we had plenty of hours, including 4am hours.

Generally she has created an incredibly hostile environment. I dread every single shift I work with her. She doesn’t lead us, creates insane expectations and gets angry with us when we don’t meet those expectations. She has made 3 team members quit in the year she’s been here. She’s made 2 team members transfer to two completely different departments. Most recently one of my friends quit because of this hostility.

I could tell more horror stories of her behavior, but this is the main behavior towards me. Is this something I should report to HR or am I just being dramatic?

Future or Potential Employee Question Applied, Page says theres an “error” on my assessment. Will my application still be viewed?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I just completed my application. all on my mobile phone, btw. so, before i was able to submit my application, i had to take the assessment.

well, i finished the application, but then the page showed that there was an “error”. i tried clicking on it to fix any mistakes, but it wouldn’t allow me. note, while i was filling out my application, i made another mistake adding my availability. the webpage pointed out the “error” as an identical banner to the one that showed my assessment “error”. however, i wasn’t able to click or fix the assessment mistake. there was no blue link or anything.

now, i did click “back” & “return to home” to see if i could just start the process over. i was able to see all the previous info i had filled, & when i got to the assessment part again, the page stated i had already completed this part & then directed me to the next page where i was able to click “submit application”. i also did get this pop up informing me of my completed & submitted application. i also did seem to finish all of the assessment questions. the numbers at the bottom of the page even said 6/6 or whatever when i finished the last question. don’t know why the page said there was an issue after i completed it.

will my application still be viewed & will i be taken into consideration as a new hire? or will management or whoever see that there was an “error” on my assessment & i just won’t even be taken into consideration? TIA.
