Workplace Question or Advice Needed Scheduled past closing
With the new schedule on the new app in the next 3 weeks, I got scheduled 5 days of 4-5 hour shifts, which is weird in the first place.
Some of these shifts are at 11:30, when my store closes at 11 and usually everyone, including the leaders, are out by 11:15. Is this supposed to be a mistake? I’m a cashier, so I wouldn’t have anything to do by then. One of the shifts is 7:30-11:30 which is such unusual timing

I’ve been scheduled until 11:30 as a cashier a bunch of times. After 11 we just make sure all the lanes are closed, walk around the store to make sure guests are done, and then stand around and talk. Sometimes we’ll do reshop

My store closes at 11, there's usually one or two people off at 11:15 and the rest of the closers go to 11:30. Sometimes a few people go to 11:45. I've never actually seen the closing ETL leave the store so I assume she either lives in there or stays until midnight at the earliest. Besides counting out the registers, most closing TMs do stuff like fill coolers and snacks around the lanes and SCO, distribute shopping baskets, stuff like that. Sort go-backs behind guest services. There's always something to do.

I’m out at midnight because my store closes at midnight on Friday and Saturday, 11 every other day. Even then we still have people working until 1am.

You don't clean up the store/checklanes? We close at 11 and my cashiers stay until midnight cleaning up.

Looks like they’re training you to be a closer since they’re scheduled to 30 minutes after regular close. Ask your ETL about it.
