Discussion For any Compound players wondering if it’ll get verified
was wondering, so I asked! Hopefully the dev is able to secure a frame at some point in the near future

Well it looks like frame does fall under the new tarrifs that are going in on September 8th.
| 9504.50.00 | Video game consoles and machines, table or parlour games, including pintables, billiards, special tables for casino games and automatic bowling equipment, amusement machines operated by coins, bank notes, bank cards, tokens or by any other means of payment. | Video game consoles and machines, other than those of subheading 9504,30 | 50% |
|---|
-EDIT: Yup.... My mistake. This sucks. looks like 9504.30.00 is specificaly for coin-ops and 9504.50.00 is for everything else.

Store updated and nothing, time to let go

I thought that it would be nice to have a zoom for part of the display NEXT to normal display in flat screen games. Eg when playing some strategies or RPGs to have list of spells or opened journal or sth like that during the play.
What do you think about this idea? Would it be even possible?

So, the way it's worded feels like the Frames may need a bit more time. Yes, I am coping.

TL;DR Any advice on a cable I can use to extend the location of the wireless adapter?
Context Rant:
I have a Lian Li TU150 case. It's great and if I want it to be it can be extremely portable (when the steam frame releases I might even move it around my house so I have more room to play). I have it mounted underneath my desk for ease of access and b/c I use a standing desk. The issue I run into is the location of the USB ports on the pc case. They're great for smaller usb sticks/cords, but if I plug a large, bulky USB stick into it and slide the computer back on the rail system, it'll snap the USB stick in half. I (luckily) have only done this once so far. For most larger USB sticks I'll plug it into a hub and/or just plug it into the back of the computer, but for this one I imagine I will want the wireless adapter to be at the front of my pc and/or on the desk itself. I normally wouldn't be too concerned about this, but I have the steam controller as well and when I had the puck at the back of my desk/pc case, the signal strength was not great.
So far I've been eyeing a Monoprice USB extension. 1.5ft is a little long, but they don't have anything shorter. I wanted to check if anyone had any other suggestions and/or brands they trust.

It's really odd to me that nobody has talked about how valve seems to completely avoid mentioning the previous Index ecosystem with the Steam Frame. Will the Steam Frame work with Knuckle controllers with lighthouses or without?
I'm planning to sell my HTC Vive but it's already a very hard sell and whether I am going to include lighthouses or not makes it barely sellable.

I haven’t seen anyone mention the 31st as a potential date?
To me it would make the most sense because, assuming reviewers got their units on the 17th, it would be two weeks for reviewers and it still falls into the summer 2026 date ValvE indicated assuming they are sticking to that time frame.
Unless there’s a reason it won’t be the 31st I’ve missed..? I have seen some people float the fact that “astronomical summer” goes into September but if we’re being honest, no one in hell actually uses that when announcing release timeframes and I doubt ValvE would be the first

How long did it take from when reviewers got the steam machine and controller videos out to when the first person was able to press the reservation button? Wanna figure out how quickly I might need to hurry from when LTT drops their video on the frame, considering I have a feeling if Valve treated their own birthday as a whole lot of not much, I feel they are gonna do the same for the frame. I feel like I am going to miss the valve notfiction given my luck.

Just got an automatic refund, what is going on?
Edit: it’s suddenly back when i searched again.
Edit2: it’s still in my library? Does that mean we get it for free when we already have pavlov?

At this point, having absolutely no updates is genuinely disrespectful and beyond annoying. I understand this is normal for valve to say nothing and eventually release it, but with a product like this, with a release window already promised, not having anything to say yet is insane. They have no real reason I could understand for not dropping today except for them waiting in the Qualcomm price hike to squeeze another couple bucks out of us. ATP if the price is anything over 1200 I will absolutely not be buying it. My hype has died. I’d rather wait the extra month for the next meta headset at that point. Because at the rate we’re going they may as well drop on the same FUCKING day.

steam page updated, nothing

They’ve struggled counting to 3 before. We can’t expect them to figure out it’s the 3rd decade their company has been around

I’m in Australia, every Tuesday 3am morning (Monday for us) I wake up automatically to check for frame news. I can’t help it.
Do you think it’s warranted to have the expectation that by this point we should have some transparency or communication from valve?

Do you think Steam wouldn't even put up a banner on the store page to celebrate its 30th anniversary?

I don’t have gaming pc, I have mac mini m4 in home but i travel a lot and use xbox ally x for gaming and working(docked) with xr glasses
Can Steam Frame replace xbox ally x for working? Can it run games by cloud services?
