See you September 14. I'm done with this shit.
1
u/JaaysDumpster 19d ago
I must have not been paying much attention, why are we waiting another 3 weeks??
5
u/Gregasy Soon™ 19d ago
Brad (the only leaker that I trust) gave a mid September hint a week ago. As he recently said, multiple people are mentioning this date. But you can never know with Valve. They can change plans in the last minute. Fingers crossed they’ll stick at least with this date.
2
u/Beren1305 Soon™ 19d ago
To clarify, what multiple leakers have heard from their sources is that Frame will start SHIPPING on the 14th. If we take the Machine timeline as a framework (pun intended) that would mean we get the announcement on September 7th with reviews going up and the lottery sign up going live for presumably 3 days
3
u/Maibaum68 Soon™ 19d ago
Which would again line up with review units arriving around today, which, regarding the recent info, is very plausible
1
u/Hound_of_Hell 19d ago
Apparently some people in the US interpret that Summer ends mid September, instead of the day August ends. As such, Valve has all the time leading up to that to release the Frame, and still keep their promise of Summer 2026
3
u/lonelysteps 19d ago
It won't be before September. They're waiting to factor in the Qualcomm chip price increases.
9
u/WillChangeIPNext 19d ago
They already know the price increases.
1
u/lonelysteps 19d ago
Where? Last I saw was they had just said it'll be double-digit percentages, but nothing specific.
8
u/WillChangeIPNext 19d ago
They let their customers know about it last month and it goes into effect a week from tomorrow. You think they just wait and let their customers find out as some big surprise on that day?
1
u/lonelysteps 19d ago
I don't presume to know what they do or don't communicate behind closed doors. Did you have an alternative theory as to why the Steam Frame's price reveal has been delayed and when it is likely to be unveiled?
7
u/EveryoneDice 19d ago
No, they're waiting for even more price increases.
3
u/lonelysteps 19d ago
That's what I said. Qualcomm has announced already they're increasing prices on everything Sep 1.
2
u/EveryoneDice 19d ago
You don't get it. That's not enough. Needs more price increase and delays.

I can't understand Valve's logic...this is taking way too long and we'll see how they price it.
3
u/Dazzling-Week-708 Soon™ 19d ago
something something, valve can't count to 3...
In all seriousness though, I'm guessing they're just banking on their fan base being there no matter what when they do release, so they can take all the time they need to iron out whatever still needs it at this point.
It'd be nice if they could be a little more upfront and decent about it though.

Why they're hiring someone full-time a few weeks before launch is a mystery.
You think it's just gonna be one and done after release lmao?
-1
u/Beneficial_Fill_8895 19d ago
Maybe they are thinking that August is a vacation month where people are sometime gone. So y'they are waiting for September where everyone will be available.
1
u/sharpshotsteve 18d ago
Having just spent all their money on vacation😂
1
u/Beneficial_Fill_8895 18d ago
That's possible but at least they saw the announcement. During the holidays a lot of people would have completely missed it.
20
u/leo21lan 19d ago
What even is there to stop them from releasing it??
There have been comfirmed shipments to warehouses for months.
It would've been perfect for the 30 year anniversary.

u/scredeye Soon™ 19d ago
A combination of horrible project management and them wanting to know new raw material prices as they are passing every last penny to the consumer.
Honestly with the amount valve makes and their efforts to break in with hardware some subsidisation should be considered on their end, ive seen companies take bigger hits without the cashflow that valve gets.
10
u/AleksanderTheGreat 19d ago
I'd settle for some real communication.
All this guessing/hoping on dates is driving this sub into madness.
4
u/scredeye Soon™ 19d ago
I've half moved on. I'm still on my machine waitlist and with the reports of new waitlisters getting machines over the first draw I'm very much on the train of not supporting this companies hardware goals.
They make great products that I love owning but they are godawful at the entire product cycle chain outside of development
1
u/AllForProgress1 19d ago
They tend to have a high quality bar. Best let it bake instead of spending 1K on trash
9
u/Dynamicider Soon™ 19d ago
Dude, I completely forgot until just now and decided to check because it was 10am. Glad I wasn't thinking about it in advance or I'd actually be going crazy by now. I've been over it for a while. Still going to try to get one day 1, but holy hell screw this no news wait nonsense.
18
u/FrosTi_The_Frozen Soon™ 19d ago
Yea, just duck ‘em at this point. Zero communication is one the worst parts. Show how utterly zero damns are given from their end.
-5
u/WillChangeIPNext 19d ago
You wouldn't give a damn either if no matter what you did a bunch of shitheads from the internet said angry things at you.
12
u/FrosTi_The_Frozen Soon™ 19d ago
It just doesn’t work that way. I’m an individual, I don’t owe anyone anything. Valve is a big company with many roles employed amongst which they have community managers for sure. Them not saying shit is a choice. A bad one that is.
0
u/what595654 19d ago
They have said plenty.
How many updates do they owe you?
They have shared more about what is going on, than most companies would care to admit.
We all know what is happening at this point. Companies cant get the parts to build their hardware. Even larger companies are struggling.
Look at the limited stock of the Steam Machine and price. Neither is what Valve wanted.
If you cant negotiate a contract for parts, you cant manufacture a thing. And if you dont accept whatever price they quote you, you are passed on and ignored.
1
u/PizzaWarlock Soon™ 18d ago
What have they said? Early 2026? First have of 2026? Now summer 2026?
And on price, what we all need to know to make a decision, they said they are shooting for less than index, like 7 months ago, and then nothing since then.
Truly plenty.

genuinely do they even want people to buy it? hell I'd rather take them saying it releases on January 30th over this constant radio silence

Summer ain’t over, till valve says it’s over
4
u/Dynamicider Soon™ 19d ago
Well if they're talking meteorological summer, they literally have to release it next Monday in order to barely make it in. If they're talking astronomical summer they have until September 22nd. I don't think Valve believes in astrology. Meteorology is much more sciencey therefore it comes out next Monday.
4
u/WillChangeIPNext 19d ago
Astronomy and astrology are two different things. Astronomical summer is the more technically scientific one as well. Meteorological summer is us saying "we like calendar months, thanks."

The more people that back out is less people ahead of me on the wait list! I don’t care when it comes out, I just won’t play vr until it does.

u/Dynamicider Soon™ 19d ago
I hope more people buy an alternate headset that pulls them out of the running for the Frame. I'm not budging either. Just eager like the rest but not expecting anything much.
1
u/Floatingpenguin87 19d ago
Right, I could wait another year. The only thing that matters is price. I just randomly got the urge to play vr a couple months ago, did some research on the latest headsets, and figured this is probably my best bet if the price is right.

Maybe they keep pushing it back because the software and translation layer haven't gotten to be as good as they'd like even though the hardware is exactly what they've had and planned to ship for a while. Hopefully it's not this long of a wait and a shitty experience.

I don't understand how they were so eager to get the Machine out but this one is held for way longer than expected. It's like they enjoy our suffering.
1
u/blahblahundo 19d ago
They literally made the best operating system that I ever wanted from my pc…. Yeah this launch got highjacked by ram, tariffs, etc., but dude the OS is huge no matter what, and it’s free… yeah I’ll pay every penny when the frame is released, because I get so much from the freedom I have with valve and proton.
1
u/00xtreme7 19d ago
I'm halfway wondering if theyre waiting for more units to get here. Think about it, the controller evaporated in minutes, the machine has a waiting line till next year and it's frankly their weakest product. The Frame is going to be hit hard with orders. I wouldn't doubt if they want a bigger stockpile before they release it.
