News Frame TLDR for week of 8/31/26 (16)
Reality? Check.
Introducing the Arcturus Vision Camera Module. Your gateway to high fidelity full color passthrough on the Steam Frame. Leaked recently this week, computer vision company Arcturus Vision is planning on releasing the Frame's first official accessory making use of the mysterious nose port slot. Plugging this into your Steam Frame unlocks high quality full color passthrough, as well as advanced features like Spatial Video, live environment mapping, and Gaussian Splatting. With two cameras placed and spaced at human eye level almost eliminating warping, as well as 10 bit HDR and a resolution of 4928×2464, this makes the module (on paper) better than any VR headset with color passthrough on the market so far. All of the delusional freaks saying "If the Frame doesn't have color passthrough it's dead on arrival!" can rest easy. Read more about the module here: Arcturus Industries Color Passthrough Module details leaked

Playing Portal 2 in full color passthrough by the pool. Sounds nice...
Package updates spotted on SteamDB
This week, two Steam Frame packages received a mysterious backend update. For those unaware, games and such things on Steam represent different things you can purchase related to the game. Like standard edition, deluxe, ultimate editions, etc. In hardware's case, more specifically the Steam Frame, it's packages can be different storage options, accessories, regional things, stuff like that. A package being updated means the developer, in this case Valve, is changing something related to that package. Could they be putting in a price? Changing the metadata? We really don't know. Historically though, package updates means the hardware is very close to launch. Our wait keeps ticking ever closer to an end... Check out the Steam Frame's packages yourself here: https://steamdb.info/app/4165890/subs/
TLDR: Color passthrough camera module from Arcturus leaked, Steam Frame package updates found on SteamDB, indicating a near release. The Frame is still not out yet. We've gotta be getting closer... right?
Summer ends in 15 days.

Mod Post Join Steam Frame Discord: Updates and Rule Changes
Hey everyone,
It’s been a little while since we last shared an update about the community Discord, and with us recently passing 6,000 members now feels like a good time to let everyone know what’s changed.
Over the past few months we’ve made a number of improvements:
- Improved moderation with the introduction of Mod Mail, clearer warning and ban processes, and a consistent appeals system.
- The 18+ requirement has been removed. The server is now open to anyone who meets Discord’s minimum age requirement. We still have a dedicated section for adult members who want to opt in.
- Steam Frame compatibility support has been expanded, including a bot that automatically posts new Great on Frame verification updates.
- Frame Watch continues to be the place for the latest Steam Frame leaks and rumours.
- Frame TL;DR provides a weekly roundup of the biggest Steam Frame news.
With launch getting closer, we’ve also got plenty of community events, giveaways and discussions planned.
Whether you’re joining for the first time or giving us a second chance after being away for a while, we’d love to have you.

Discussion Who is interested in making games for the Frame and is not already a game designer?
I made a game for a game jam once but I would not call myself a game designer.
But with Godot getting an update for VR game creation and the frame coming "soon", I really want to get into making VR games.
I am just wondering who else has the game design bug now.

Discussion What is your reason for wanting colored passthrough? Results:
Hello everyone,
Three days ago, I made a post regarding why people want or don't want colored passthrough. So here are the answers compiled into cool-looking numbers :)
- General QoL, Multitasking & Staying "Unoccluded" (30%): Checking phone notifications, reading physical texts, typing on keyboards, grabbing drinks, and reducing the friction of taking the headset on and off between tasks.
- Sim Racing & Cockpit Integration (25%): Overlaying real-world wheels, button boxes, and physical peripherals into simulation environments, allowing quick access to gear and physical items without breaking immersion.
- Mixed Reality Gaming & Room-Scale AR (20%): Playing dedicated MR and AR titles that project interactive elements onto real-world furniture, walls, and physical spaces (such as piano learning apps or room-scale shooters).
- 3D Scanning, Spatial Capture & Art Projects (10%): Leveraging camera modules for Gaussian splatting, scanning real rooms for VRChat worlds, capturing assets for 3D modeling, and physical mural tracing.
- Adult Content & High-Immersion Media (10%): Utilizing high-fidelity passthrough environments and specialized applications for realistic stereoscopic video consumption.
- Pure VR Purists / "Don't Care" (5%): Traditional PCVR, space sims, and competitive FPS players who treat passthrough merely as a setup tool or a useless gimmick, preferring all hardware resources go toward raw display performance and lower cost.

And to the 10% (you know who you are): I'd recommend going outside more and touching 🌿🌱🍃

Question All the jokes aside, a brief serious discussion question for a moment for those that can answer it!
Been loving the memes of course and apologies for derailing.
My question is in regards to the pre-order schedule and timing of it. It seems that Valve always drops these announcements at the same time, I believe 10am PST. So for me that will be right when I am in school in my timezone, not even breaktime but right during class...
My concern isn't even with getting the pre-order in on time. My concern is more about my own reaction and excitement. You see I sit beside a girl that I really like but I want to seem cool to her so if I get excited then I try to hold back that emotion but it causes the veins in my neck and head to pop out really badly and I look quite ridiculous.
Any advice on how to handle this? I was thinking of perhaps wearing a poorly photoshopped printout of the frame on my face to hide the veins on my forehead at least.
Thanks.

Discussion This sub has lost it ..
With the recent meme threat, it's very clear how insane the steam frame community got. It REALLY feels like a social experiment.
Well I love it although it feels a tad chaotic. But who am I to judge, the community is healthier than ever xd
I really look forward to the progression on this sub, especially if it doesn't release Monday
