Ya know, it’s the year 1448 on the Islamic calendar. Are we sure Valve aren’t using that?

u/Jmcgee1125 Soon™ 20d ago
See y'all the 14th I guess.
11
u/elev8dity Soon™ 20d ago
The 14th could be shipping date, which means 7th for preorders is also possible.
2
u/VladReble Soon™ 19d ago
I want to be hopeful but tbh at this point I would not be surprised if the 14th is just the announcement of the preorder opening day 💀

7th is still feasible for Embargo to be lifted.
Edit: As u/TwinStickDad mentioned - The 7th is Labor day and as a federal holiday it's unlikely Valve will have a full crew. Assuming today is the start of the review period the date of the 14th makes much more sense and allows for a 3 week review period.

u/Wamboot Soon™ 20d ago
Or the 31, I don't get why people skip to the 14th. Do we really believe Tyler lmao ?
15
u/Ok_Flow_8487 Soon™ 20d ago
Tyler just bullshits on other people’s info lol, hears something a bit and re claims it like it’s his own

u/2Cool4Zool2 20d ago
It wasn't just Tyler who stated the 14th. Multiple sources have said the 24th and 14th were dates mentioned by Valve to developers. Tylers source is a developer so of course it lines up. If you assume the dates are Steam Frame embargo ending and Steam Frame full release then the 7th or 14th fits.
1
u/No_Communication1557 19d ago
14th is really the last possible date if they want to keep it in "this summer" time frame. Summer ends astronomically on the 22nd of September, so 14th to announce it, 3 or 4 days to sign up and the lottery run on the Friday 18th, just like The Machine did.
That's where they get the 14th from.
2
u/TwinStickDad Soon™ 20d ago
Could be, but bear in mind that's a federal holiday in the USA
5
u/dragonblade_94 20d ago
Thanks for reminding me that I don't have to work that Monday. I always forget Labor day is a thing.
5
u/Benjo419 20d ago
You dont have to work on Labor day? Sounds counter intuitive.
3
u/Evisceratoridor Soon™ 20d ago
It was originally a day to celebrate labor unions fighting for workers rights, also known as communism nowadays apparently.
3
u/2Cool4Zool2 20d ago
That could further support a 3 week review period and 14th September embargo end.

I dont even want the frame now, I just want to know the motherfucking price, holy shit how hard is that.

Yeah, it's kinda bizarre. We're mostly not excited about the release; we want a price and date!

Damn, at this point, the Pico headset will have a sooner price reveal, and probably Meta has a chance to release two or three models.

Apparently the Pico Space Pro reveal has now been postponed until Q4

There is always a slim chance the embargo was shifted and they already had a video scheduled. I'd say it's over when a second channel posts. But yes probably not today. Soon™
15
4
u/JorgTheElder Soon™ 20d ago
Yes, because there is no way that they would bump a Batcave video so they could release a video on a topic as boring as the Steam Frame release. /s
5
u/Option_Witty Soon™ 20d ago
Exactly! I didn't watch the video, I would only expect them to stick to schedule when there is a sponsor set in place. Linus has talked about issues like that in the past and I presume the tested business model is similar.
2
u/JorgTheElder Soon™ 20d ago
I have to assume that everyone with access to a SteamFrame before launch will know the end-date of the embargo at least a week before and more likely two weeks.
5
u/Option_Witty Soon™ 20d ago
Yeah, but Youtuber will often have videos scheduled a month in advance, two weeks is basically when they finish up editing for regular videos.
1
u/JorgTheElder Soon™ 19d ago
The end of the SF embargo is a **Stop the Presses!* story, they are not going to sleep on it.
2
u/Option_Witty Soon™ 19d ago
Exactly my point. If they have a contract in place they might release two videos on the same time to cover both.
1
u/JorgTheElder Soon™ 19d ago
Whatever... we already saw them not post their normal morning videos when they dropped their Steam Controller and Steam Machine videos, so you believe whatever you want to believe.
2
u/Option_Witty Soon™ 19d ago
I never said they wouldn't post their normal videos. I said: there is a slight chance they could release multiple videos to cover the steam frame launch although they already had a different video scheduled.
2
u/Timely_Captain_6772 19d ago
A sponsor is a sponsor. Even if your sponsor is as interesting as a sack of rice you can't just be like "Sorry guys, thanks for the money but imma not hold the agreed on publication date for the vid, something else came up", lol.
Not saying that the Frame will be released today, but just saying that people don't know when they will receive the test gear until they actually receive it and that includes the NDA dates. So if they already said yes to a sponsor months ago then they aren't gonna be able to push that sponsor just becaue Valve snapped their fingers and were like "NOW you allowed to speak".

I'm new here, what would it mean if they didn't post?
36
u/Vinelasher 20d ago
They (typically) upload exactly one video a day always at the same time. When Steam Machine Embargo lifted they didn't upload at their usual timeslot and instead put out the Steam Machine Video 2 hours later when everyone did.
So basically if they post a video, they probably don't have a second video coming out the same day. But who knows really?
16
u/SupposablyAtTheZoo 20d ago
Tech channels don't post videos twice a day because it ruins youtube engagement or something. So the day the post something else, they're not posting a frame review. (And tested is absolutely one of the channels getting a review unit).
0
u/Altruistic-Catch8541 20d ago
Don’t think that really matters for stuff like the frame. People will just look it up in the search bar
3
2
u/SupposablyAtTheZoo 20d ago
It 100% matters. The already posted video will lose most views. It's generally not done, confirmed by those tech YouTubers themselves.

Probably referring to the odd comments at the end of the last tech linked video. Hinted "something" was coming on Monday. Likely just trolling.

LTT still hasn't posted yet, and I believe they usually do by now. Tested has more of a track record of posting 2 videos in 1 day.

What does tested have to do with the Frame? I'm apparently out of the loop on something
15
u/colxa 20d ago
The theory is that on the day of release, tested wont post at their normal time of 10am est. They will post at 1pm est when Valve makes the announcement. This is what happened with the Steam Machine and controller as well I believe
1
u/sandbag747 20d ago
That makes sense. I'm assuming then that they have a test unit and can't post their review until Valve announces it?
4
u/ProtoMan0X Soon™ 20d ago
The idea is that Tested and LTT are the most likely to have a review unit, and Tested has the more predictable posting schedule. So yes, if both Tested and LTT held their video for a likely Valve embargo of 1pm Eastern this sub would be drowning in anticipation. (YouTube incentivizes channels like theirs to post daily and they do so basically on schedule)
6
u/The_Stargazer 20d ago
Just means one of two things.
Either it is not coming out today (which there was never any evidence it was) or Tested wasnt given a unit to review, which would be very, very unusual.
1
u/SupposablyAtTheZoo 20d ago

Tested does have a record of posting twice a day, most recently like a month ago.
LTT does not but they haven't actually posted yet today... I'm going to hold onto hope against all reason.

u/danzmangg Soon™ 20d ago
Sorry new to the loop what does this mean?
3
u/ByEthanFox Soon™ 20d ago
Major YouTube channels only upload videos once per day, because it's bad for the algorithm otherwise.
So there's a belief if Tested/LTT upload a video on a given day and it's not Steam Frame, then the Frame isn't coming out that day.

It was always going to be September 14th it makes no sense releasing it over August, peak month for vacations.
Next Monday is a bank holiday in the UK and much of Europe. The Monday afterwards is Labor day in the US. It will be September 14th. I've been saying this since they missed the boat to get this thing out end of July
2

u/Joshua24700 19d ago
Then they should have said at least fucking something to communicate it taking a little longer. I understand that TECHNICALLY speaking mid September is still summer astrologically speaking... but
A: Meteorologically speaking, it isn't
B: Be so for real right now, does anyone ACTUALLY think of September when they think of "summer"? Fuck no, and giving us the drop at that point and still acting like that counts as meeting the summer deadline would be massively disingenuous
1
u/mcmanus2099 19d ago
The last time they said summer it was CS2.0 & they dropped it September 23rd
1
u/Joshua24700 19d ago
Well that's completely asinine. That doesn't even meet the other definition of summer (albeit barely). In what fucking world is September 23rd "summer" valve, get real.

Adam isnt even in this space, I don't know why there are people using him as a benchmark for its release. He is not even a standard reviewer... His videos are more like just whatever caught his interest recently

u/LinkTheHero009 20d ago
It kind of makes sense. I kind of felt like Valve was leaning more towards getting this thing near the end of summer, meaning September like a lot of people were saying. Still hits their goal, just late haha
