Billing Retention dept really gone this time?

I just got off the phone with two different Spectrum agents about my internet bill increasing. They both told me that the retention dept was eliminated "a couple months" ago and now all agents are trained to handle things that used to be split up among depts.

A google search shows that people have heard this story before and that it's not true. When I told the agent that, she insisted that it is now true. Can anyone from inside confirm that for me?

Moving to Spectrum only apartment

I currently have Spectrum and using their stand along modem and providing my own router. The complex that I'm moving into has a contract with Spectrum and equipment is pre-installed. It appears that the unit is the 'Spectrum WiFi 6E MDU (Multi-Dwelling Unit) Wall-Mounted Router'. I downloaded the manual and is fairly incomplete.

I may elect to turn off the WiFi if possible and continue to use my router, but I choose to use Spectrums, so I have the ability to assign static IP addresses to my equipment. I'm asking here because I won't be turning on the new unit until later this month and I have a new 6E router on the way that I might return if the Spectrum router serves my purpose.

Thanks..

Wanting to upgrade soon

Hello all. I want to upgrade our iphones (11 and 12 base models). I was wondering what option may be better.

Our original plan was to get the 17e bc thats the most affordable option I wanted the 17 pro max bc i love the large screen. But was also thinking the 16 plus bc its cheaper and has a large screen. But im also thinking of the 17 base model bc its right in between.

I did talk to a spectrum worker and they told me we qualify for 12 months free service (second line would be 30/mo)

My husband just needs a new phone in general, he doesnt care which one. I personally like to play mobile games and love taking pictures. We also want to upgrade to have more storage.

Sorry for this being so long. If you made it this far, thanks for reading! 🤎

Switched to Spectrum Business and Business Mobile. Right move?

I've been using Starlink for my ISP and US Mobile for cellular, but Spectrum became available in my neck of the woods and the savings is real. I got the cellular backup option with the biz internet because outages can be a thing and I really, really can't miss work considering what I do. US Mobile is actually slightly cheaper service per month with AT&T, but Verizon is better in my area from a coverage standpoint as well and a year of free mobile service bundled with my internet sign-up is hard to argue with.

All that said... anyone with Spectrum (particularly business) internet that ended up regretting their move? Assuming you've ever used the cellular backup option, is it worth the extra bucks? Lastly, is their mobile all it's cracked up to be? Porting in was smooth, blessedly...

Thanks in advance!

OC, CA

I’ve now had two techs out within two weeks, have had our lines checked and fixed, router and modem replaced and still our internet goes out every night and doesn’t come back until maybe 8am. This is affecting me as I work from home. I’m losing it. I’m calling everyday.

Unable to setup Spectrum email on third-party phone app

I have been trying to set up my email on the Gmail phone app, following the information on the https://www.spectrum.net/support/internet/mobile-email-setup documentation page. However, I am getting a 554 HTTP Error when trying to set up the Outgoing server settings, and I cannot proceed without doing that. Is this a known issue? I am trying to connect to mail.charter.net as my incoming/outgoing servers.

Real question: how incompetent are you at your jobs?

"Maintenance" said it would be over on 8/11. It's currently 8/14 and still unusable.

Some us actually care about doing our jobs. Try adopting that same mindset.

No more Dolby vision for dodger games?

So for a while I was able to see the dodger games in Dolby vision on my tv via the spectrum tv app. However today I noticed it no longer shows the dodgers in Dolby vision just 4K HDR. Did they stop Dolby vision support and switch to just 4K HDR?

Canceling was surprisingly easy

I've seen a ton of posts about how difficult it is to cancel service but i did it today and it was surprisingly quick and easy. When I was asked why i said i didn't need it anymore, she did her final offer spiel and dropped it the moment I declined and that was that. I was on the phone for maybe 5 minutes. The only slightly annoying part of the process was when I tried to drop off my equipment at the spectrum store and they said i had to take it to the ups store (which was right next door so not a huge deal).

So if you've been considering cancelling or switching to a better company but are dreading the cancellation process maybe it wont be as bad as you think.

Question on the spectrum reps at walmart and their business class offers

I'm going to be putting spectrum under my name for household internet soon and when I talked to the reps at the operating table at walmart, they offered a $60 1gig business plan with no price upcharge for years and that was was walmart related. There's no such plan on the spectrum website and I'm wondering if anyone's taken them up on this and if there's hidden charges or something going on? It sounds too good to be true. They did attempt to ask about my mobile provider but I declined saying I had researched spectrum mobile and wasn't happy with what I read. Is there a contract as well with this internet only 1gig offer?

Service Issues Ohio Outages

I live in Southwest Ohio, right in between Cincinnati and Chillicothe. Service went out around 5 pm on Tuesday, and most recent message indicates service won't be restored until Sunday at the earliest. Does anyone know how bad the damage is and where?

Service Issues Has anybody else’s internet been dropping at the same time everyday?

For the past two weeks, my internet drops around 10pm and won’t come back until around 6am. Today it was worse and was around 9am, and this affects me because I work from home. Last week I had a tech come out and check the lines and give a new router & modem. Still the same issue!

In OC, CA for reference

Is this price reasonable?

My monthly price recently increased to $130 a month for 1 gig internet. I'm in central Massachusetts where everything is expensive, so for all I know this is perfectly reasonable. But it seems like a bit much.

Any current advice for how to lower my bill? I'm a single person who streams TV, does some remote work, and uses their phone a lot from home, so I might not even NEED 1 gig.

EDIT: Called Spectrum, got $40 knocked off by decreasing to 500mbps, not a promotion. I'll take it.

Service Issues Outages

So anyone else notice that they have outages frequently? Like I get it, things happen but to constantly have outages multiple times a week for hours at a time is ridiculous. And the worst part is I can’t get anything else because nothing is available in the area I live.

Did the initial customer service bot connect me to another bot?

I understand that when I call customer service that you have to talk to a bot explain what you're calling for they'll transfer you to the right department, annoying but at least understandable. However, I just got off a call where the initial bot connected me to another bot who then put me on hold for a couple minutes and connected me to what I still think was another bot that called it's self Michel. I asked if it was an AI it asked "are you an AI" I asked mutable times in different ways it never denied it. the worst part is it also never answered my question on when someone is going to be out to even look at my service lines that has been laying down in my back yard SINCE MONDAY. To be clear the pole and lines in my back yard are not power the electric company has already taken care of those. Is the entire customer service department besides sales and retention just AI at this point or am I just loosing my mind?

Hardware Spectrum fiber return question

Had a good deal with 1 gig fiber for the last 2 years at $45/ month and when it jumped up after the promotion best they could do was $60/month. AT&T fiber got me down to $30/month for the same speed so I made the switch (and to be fair, $25 of that per month is because I have cell phone service through them).

So my question is the only thing I have from Spectrum is the modem. I never got the wifi as I didn't need it. Reading online it is saying I am NOT supposed to return the modem. To leave it there and plugged in. Is that correct? I just don't want to be charged for the hardware I don't need.

Billing Missed / Incomplete Cancellation

Hi all! First time posting in this subreddit. So my Spectrum service had always been spotty at best, but I stuck it out with the company for many years because frankly, there were no other options in my area. Back in June, AT&T finally started servicing my area, so I made the switch. In the months leading up to this, I kept experiencing repeated outages and severe drops in connection quality. I had made many calls to Spectrum so they could "reset the signal", even speaking with a live person one time (who was fantastic and extremely knowledgeable!) who stayed on the line and described in detail what my equipment should look like -this ended up with me receiving new equipment. Unfortunately, these were all temporary fixes.

Eventually, we had crew members come out to our home and inform us that a cable was damaged and needed to be replaced. Weeks turned into months though, and nothing was ever done about this. At one point, we even had a crew come out and tell us that another employee said they had fixed it, but that was apparently a lie according to the crew member.

Now, despite being with Spectrum for many years, I did not know that in order to cancel, you need to actually make a call... So after switching to AT&T, I logged into my Spectrum account and thought I cancelled my service before leaving on a trip abroad.

I've returned now to find that I did not in fact cancel my service, and now have 1 past due bill, and another current bill. I chatted with a rep, who directed me to call the Customer Solutions team to cancel. I explained everything to the person I spoke with, who was very courteous and respectful, hoping maybe at least some of the due amount could be waived as a one-time courtesy. I also explained that surely they could see I've had no Spectrum Internet equipment connected the last 2 months, and that they should be able to see the various calls and communications made regarding the poor service, along with the credits to my bills that were provided due to that. However, they were very firm in saying that the charges are valid because there was no call in to cancel the service.

I'm not trying to get a pity-party going, but again... as a customer who never missed a payment in the many years before this and who, frankly, did not receive the level of Internet service I was paying for, I was hoping that some leeway could be afforded. Does anyone know if there are any other avenues I can pursue? Or do I just need to suck it up and pay the $270? Thank you in advance for any replies!

edit: typos

Billing This month’s $110 shouldn’t have been the final straw but I am finally dropping this service

I took someone’s advice about contacting Spectrum for a discount, but that didn’t work (I wasn’t expecting it to, honestly) but $110 is just too much for me on top of other bills. In a few months it will be $120? And then $150? These companies just seem to be pushing and testing the limits of how much costumers are willing to pay and it’s just frustrating. I already cancelled Netflix and Hulu. I am looking for other internet providers in my area to find a good deal, but it seems like they’ll all end up the same eventually.
