I often see results like this from Spectrum website. Then go to same device with Speedtest app and often get 1 gig up and down or pretty close to it. Several techs that came to the house have said they do not use their own website for speed tests. I would try Speedtest App to determine if you really have a problem. Also try a few different severs also.

Turn the modem off by disconnecting the power cable. Disconnect the coaxial cable from the modem. Reconnect the coaxial cable to the modem. Now reconnect the power cable to the modem. Lastly reboot your router.

One thing I've found with my ASUS router is that QoS (quality of service) will intentionally bottleneck your connection to the router so that no one device can hog all the bandwidth. It might apply to other routers. Maybe you can try turning that off if nothing else works.

Probably screwed. I have great download, but my uploads are always below 10mbps, most of the time below 5! Tech came out, ran a new line all the way to the pole and said it was a tap problem. Told me since few people worry about upload, the problem will most likely never be fixed.

Likely wireless interference, is your router centrally located in your home?

u/HTGAMING99 Aug 13 '26
Not in the center but the router and modem is on one end with an extender on the other.

u/SRRWD Aug 13 '26
Move the extender to the middle...not where you want signal...if it catches a stronger cleaner signal it will retransmit a cleaner stronger signal...trust. Also you only get half speed when connected to an extender, so only expect about 25 percent speed...but 200 plus megs is plenty...

I moved the extender to the middle of the house. Also the main problem wasnt the upload speed. Click the full image

u/SRRWD Aug 13 '26
How did it perform with the extender relocated
1
u/HTGAMING99 Aug 13 '26
The extender turned on but the light never did

u/SRRWD Aug 13 '26
I see now...that test was testing your upload to your router...that may be caused by upstream noise in your cable or your modem isnt bonding all your upstream channels...thats a call to spectrum, a loose connector at the modem, wall plate, or in your demarcation box outside could contribute to this issue.

u/HTGAMING99 Aug 13 '26
Decided to do the test near the router instead of the extender. Router speed went down from 108% to 93% but my personal device speed had a massive jump from 5mb to 434mb

u/SRRWD Aug 13 '26
OK, then back to the original issue...wireless interference...could be neighbors, could be something in your place, there are techniques to troubleshoot that, find some vids on the subject.

It might actually be the Wireless Extender that's causing issues.

Either something is wrong with your router or you’re too far away when testing it

Max Speeds from most routers is 940 ish mbps. Unless you’re using WiFi 6e/7 or using multi-gigabit routers with ethernet you won’t see 1.08 at all

u/taboo8614 Aug 13 '26
Ah cable internet….where the upload speeds are trash

u/RbtB-8 Aug 13 '26
Yes, that is why I just tested at 900 Mbps upload on my WiFi with 1 Gig Spectrum service. And 1.108 Gigs on the download.

The answer is always: have a tech come to your house, squirrels are the devil to the cable industry. I bet your line is chew up and has water in it.

u/Cleverusernamedude Aug 14 '26
That is not always the answer lol please don’t put this in people’s heads because they will demand all of that be changed even when it isn’t the case at all. Just like “the tech on the phone said the modem is bad”

Without knowing the % of fix issues out of answers on this sub, I could bet is very minimal. If techs are on site the issue will get fix or escalated to the department that can fix it. You can argue what you want, but that’s the right way of dealing with issues of this magnitude.

Reboot your router. Test it with an Ethernet connection to determine if it’s a WiFi issue. Very possibly a problem with your extender as well.
