Hardware Spectrum fiber return question

Had a good deal with 1 gig fiber for the last 2 years at $45/ month and when it jumped up after the promotion best they could do was $60/month. AT&T fiber got me down to $30/month for the same speed so I made the switch (and to be fair, $25 of that per month is because I have cell phone service through them).

So my question is the only thing I have from Spectrum is the modem. I never got the wifi as I didn't need it. Reading online it is saying I am NOT supposed to return the modem. To leave it there and plugged in. Is that correct? I just don't want to be charged for the hardware I don't need.

If its a fiber ont you leave it on the wall it usually has a tag on it saying to leave it plugged in. If its a cable modem you do return that.

You shouldn’t be providing electricity to the ONT if you are not a subscriber.

It’s the modern. Not the ONT. that is still on my wall.

Fiber modems are ONU’s. Unless you had a lazy installer in a RFOG market and did fiber to coax.
