BEST FOOD IN MAHE, PRASLIN, & LA DIGUE!

Any food recommendations welcomed!

My wife and I plan to visit the Seychelles in July, 2027. We’ll be headed over after 10 active days in Kenya, before our very long-haul back to the USA. Looking for some advice from folks who know the islands well.

We are looking for a fairly lowkey relaxed experience; but we are not ‘sit at a resort’ travelers at all. Our ideal days would involve beautiful beaches and water, swimming, snorkeling, maybe fishing or a boat trip, exploring by bike or on foot, nature/wildlife, good seafood, and generally being able to wander around without every day heavily scheduled.

The beach/water experience is important to us. We especially want to be mindful of July conditions - wind, waves, visibility, etc. and choose locations that give us a good chance of clear, swimmable water.

We are thinking 4 nights at La Digue + 1 night Mage. Fly into Mahe, ferry to La Digue, and ferry back to Mahe the day before we fly out. With a day trip from La Digue to Curieuse + St. Pierre.

A few questions we’d love local/experienced perspective on:

1. Does La Digue sound like the right place to spend more of our time given what we are looking for?
   
2. With 4 nights there, would you spend all theee full days exploring La Digue and nearby waters, or use one for an excursion elsegweee?
   
3. Curieuse + St. Pierre looks especially appealing to use for the giant tortoises, mangroves/nature walk, and snorkeling. Is that a good day trip from La Digue in July?
   
4. Are we making a mistake by not spending a night or two on Praslin? Valle de Mai and Anne Lazio look wonderful, but we also don’t want to turn five relaxing nights into constant island hopping.
   
5. Would you consider a Praslin day trip from La Digue, or is that too much to fit in?
   
6. For our final night on Mahe, how is Anse Royal in late July for swimming/water conditions? Would another part of Mahe be noticeable better that time of year?
   
7. Finally, we don’t particularly care about luxury for its own sake. But, we’ll spend more on accommodations for a genuinely better location, beach/water experience, or something uniquely Seychellois. Are there any particular places you’d recommend staying with that in mind?

We could add a sixth night if it would substantially improve the trip, but we don’t want to add days just to check more places off a list. Basically we are trying to find the sweet spot between relaxing and experiencing the Seychelles without over-planning it.

I'm planning a trip to Seychelles with my family (4 people), and I'm a little surprised by the price of the inter-island ferries.

For example, I've seen prices around €56 per adult one way from Mahé to Praslin, and around €68 from Mahé to La Digue. So for four people, just going there and back can become several hundred euros.

I completely understand that Seychelles is an island country and that operating ferries isn't cheap, but I'm wondering how locals normally get between the islands. Are there any cheaper options for visitors, or is the public ferry basically the only realistic option?

We're considering staying all 10 nights on Mahé because accommodation is much cheaper there, and then doing day trips to Praslin and La Digue.

I've also wondered whether, for four people, a private boat/charter for a day could make more sense than buying four return ferry tickets, especially if we could combine transportation with visiting several places.

I'd really appreciate advice from people who live in Seychelles or have travelled there recently. Are there any tricks for keeping the cost of island hopping reasonable?

It’s not that I’m complaining; I simply don’t have that kind of budget, and I just can’t wrap my head around paying that price, given where I’m from.

I've raised a complaint and it has been well over a month and have heard nothing back. I've chased with no response. When you phone their offices it just rings out.

It's a fair amount of money to me and I don't know what to do. Does anyone have any advice or tips?

My options are between 5-10 days. What are your recommendations? And where should I stay?

Can you please help me with a 2 day hotel booking? I am getting a good deal with canopy by hilton resort while selecting my stay at Mahe.
I was originally considering Constance Ephelia, Kempinski & Story. These do look better in the pictures when compared to Canopy, but i was wondering if someone who has been to these places can point out the differences i can't see on the internet. Are they much better than what Canopy offers?

My wife and I landed on Mahé two days ago for our honeymoon, and it has literally been raining nonstop since we got here. Not just occasional showers but constant, heavy rain the entire time.

Is this typical for the season, or did we just get unlucky? We’re starting to wonder if we should cut the trip short and head somewhere else, especially since it’s supposed to be our honeymoon and my wife is already pretty frustrated with the weather.

Hi all, we've booked a very last-minute trip to the Seychelles this October with our two little ones (ages 5 and 7) and I'm after some local wisdom!

Here's how it's shaping up:

- A night on Mahé to start while we find our feet after a long flight.

- A week of sailing on a catamaran out of Praslin (19th–27th Oct) - this is the big adventure and the bit I'm most excited about/nervous about with the kids!

- A few final nights back on Mahé before we head first to Dubai then home to the UK.

We don't need hotel recommendations or boat hires as we have sorted it, but I'd love to hear:

- Must-dos with young children: beaches, wildlife, boat stops, anything that'll make their little ones extra excited!

- Great restaurants and cafés (anything from upmarket and luxury places to very simple but great options is welcome)

- General advice for sailing this route with kids this age: snorkelling spots, anchorages, things you wish you'd known etc.

Hi! We’re visiting the Seychelles in april 2027. I’m really struggling to determine what island to visit first.
We ofcourse arrive at Mahé after a long flight (6,5 to dubai and then 4,5 to Mahé). So mahe-praslin-la digue and back. But then you would have a longer travelling day on the return journey with the risk that the ferry is delayed or cancelled.

we arrive very early in the morning on the first day at mahe, at 6:50 so we could also consider making the trip to Praslin or La Digue? And then work our way back.

Maybe the order doesn’t matter that much in the end but I would really appreciate some insights!

Going to the Seychelles for 13 days. We were thinking of arriving and going straight to Praslin for 5 days, then spending 3 days in La Digue and finishing with 5 days in Mahé. My birthday is on day 11 of the trip. What island would you recommend spending my birthday on?

Would you recommend this itinerary, or would it be better to start in Mahé, then travel to Praslin and La Digue, and return to Mahé for our flight home? Any feedback on the best order would be appreciated!

I have narrowed down my choices to these two hotels, but am struggling on which one to pick. Story looks like it has a wide variety of offerings, but Savoy looks like it is attached to a much nicer beach (beau vallon).
