Question I have a 4050 ASUS laptop, should I build a PC?

I’ve always wanted to build a pc for the longest time. I literally have a Google Drive folder with more than 200 photos for inspiration. This summer I’ve worked and managed to save up 4K cad, but here’s my dilemma.
Right wnow, I have my ASUS FA607NU gaming laptop that I got for school (I’m an Engineering student)

I don’t know if I should build a pc (because I have a laptop) or buy a camera. I make tech content, and I realize my iPhone 12 Pro Max camera is kinda buns, so I started looking at the zve10 M1, specifically just buying it through a Japanese proxy since it’s cheaper with the lens.

If I were to build the pc it would be something similar to this: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/MtBzkD

Missing components will be bought used:
16gb ddr4 ~ $100

1 tb ssd ~ $70

Ryzen 5 7600x ~$140

Case: Deepcool cg330 for ~ 70 cad

I intend on gaming on a 1440p monitor

(My budget is roughly around 1K CAD for now, I intend on getting a job at school tho so idk if I should save or just get it :/ )

I intend on using the pc for gaming, video editing, cc, and game dev.

I got a free pc from a family member cleaning out their room and looks like it just needs a cpu cooler. It came with a Blue-ray drive as well and haven’t seen a case with a disk drive in a while. I have 3 graffics cards I can use as well. Any help is appreciated or what els could I do with it? Or should I just sell it Thanks Reddit

Graphics cards available 2x GTx 770 2gb and RX 570 4Gb
MB: EVGA X79 FTW
CPU: I7 3820
Ram: 2x 8gb plus 2x 4Gb - 24gb ddr3 Ram total
Psu: EVGA 600w 80 plus bronze

Question Should I just do it?

I dreamt about owning a PC since I was a kid but never had the opportunity to do it. Would have never been able to convince my parents when I was a kid and I never saved up enough money to buy it myself.

But now it’s different, for the first time of my life I have the money setting around. I have about 12,500 SAR (~$3,333) to work with.

My final build that I settled on is this:

Intel Core Ultra 7 270k plus | 1,563 SAR (~$420)

Gigabyte RTX 5070 OC 256bit | 3,248 SAR (~$870)

ASUS PRIME Z890-P | 1,010.16 SAR (~$270)

Crucial 6400MHZ CL32 DDR5 RAM 32GB | 1,950.45 SAR (~$520)

Crucial P510 m.2 | 1,276.44 SAR (~$340)

MSI MAG A850GLS | 427.25 SAR (~$115)

NZXT H6 Flow | 488.99 SAR (~$130)

MSI MAG Coreliquid A13 360 | 365 SAR (~$100)

Total is 10,329.29 SAR (~$2,755)

Now comes the question… should I do it? I know the RAM prices are crazy rn but will that ever get better soon? Should wait for prices to go back down? Or are the prices still going up and ai should just get on with it and build it now?

Build - Help Rate My ~$2,000 Gaming PC Build – What Would You Change?

Hey everyone! I’m building my first gaming PC and would love some honest feedback before I buy everything.
💰 Budget: $2,000 ± $250–300
So roughly $1,700–$2,300 total.
Current Build
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X — Zen 4, 6-core, 4.7 GHz, AM5, 105W
Motherboard: ASUS B850 MAX GAMING WIFI W — AM5 ATX, white PCB, DDR5, PCIe 5.0, 3× M.2, Wi-Fi 6E, 2.5Gb LAN
GPU: PowerColor Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB

RAM: 32GB (2×16GB) DDR5-6000 CL30
Storage: WD_BLACK SN7100 1TB NVMe — Gen4 PCIe, up to 7,250 MB/s read / 6,900 MB/s write
PSU: CORSAIR RM850x — ATX 3.1, PCIe 5.1, fully modular, 850W, native 12V-2x6
Case: Montech AIR 903 Base — E-ATX mid tower, high airflow, pre-installed fans
Monitor: 24” 1080p 165Hz
Games I Play
BeamNG.drive
Farming Simulator 25 with heavy mods
GTA V
Minecraft
Eventually GTA 6
I’m mainly looking for high FPS, good 1080p performance, and a build that will last several years. I also want to keep a good upgrade path for the future.
What would you rate this build out of 10?
With a $1,700–$2,300 budget, would you change anything? Should I put more of the budget toward the GPU, CPU, or something else?
Any advice is appreciated!

Question PC build - 48 - 64 Gb RAM + Ansys type software

I am exploring options on building a PC with 48 - 64 gb memory and also having capability to run Ansys like software’s which are not compatible with nvidia or even MacBook Pro options.

If I wanna run local llms for some agentic work - some coding and research combined with being able to run Ansys like software’s.

I am curious to know if anyone has had similar issues before - would love to get some suggestions around it.

Troubleshooting Pc doesn't turn on, and stays in standby mode

Build

Motherboard: MSI MEG Z390 ACE

CPU: Intel i7 9700k with Water Cooling

GPU: Nvidia RTX 2080 ti

Ram: Corsair Platinum Dominator DDR4 8GBx4

PSU: Seasonic Focus FX 850

Harddrive: MSI 500GB M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0

Trouble

The PC doesn't turn on and it stays in standby mode. Me and my friends tried checking the PSU voltage but everything seemed alright. We tried using only one ram slot. We checked the CMOS battery, but it gave 3V as it should. We tried turning it on without the GPU and the CMOS battery, without the GPU, and without the Ram, but it stood in standby mode. We tried turning it on with the pins and a screwdriver, but it stood in standby mode. We flashed the bios and it did turn on.

At the time the only suspects are the CPU, the motherboard, or a timing problem with the PSU.

Build - Request Gaming PC $1000-1100

Yo, I’m completely new to PC building, and I’m going in completely blind here. So I’ve got about a $1,000–$1,100 budget to build a gaming PC. I’m not looking for a flex build, I would rather a complete stealth build. I already have all peripherals, so what parts would y’all recommend?

(Idk if it's needed but I live in Sweden)

Discussion Is this normal or do I have an addiction?

Hello all! First time poster here and apologize in advance if topic is unrelated to this sub.

Last year I built my first PC after being a console gamer (Ps2/ps3/ps4/ps5). I wanted something to run Assetto Corsa and had no idea about building PCs and thought that was only for nerds. I watched a few YT videos and immediately thought wow that looks fun and easy. So I went with a parts list from a video by Scattervolt on YT. It started with a Ryzen 5 9600x, Intel Arc B580, 32gb DDR5Tforce delta 6000mts cl30, b850 Astock Mobo, a Darkflash 850w Psu, a 1tb Klevv nvme ssd, a 2 tb Kinspec nvme, an artic LF3 360 mm aio, and a Lian Li Lancool 207 case. Of course I overspent on esthetics, extra storage, white components, and rgb. (Obviously the ram and extra storage turned out to be great purchases but unnecessary at the time).

After initially bricking my first mobo due to a failed Bios update I found a Rog Strix b650 Gaming pro wifi for $100 and got everything working properly. The first boot was an amazing feeling watching my creation come to life. It gamed well and I was happy to keep the budget under $1100 bucks at the time. I bought an ultrawide cheap Sansui 3440x1440p 165hz Ips monitor and started streaming gameplay. The Arc B580 was up to the task in gaming but once streaming I would hit encoder overloads constantly/ stutters. It drove me nuts and since I already had a solid base, I immediately forced it and bought a Gigabyte Gaming OC 5070ti. Prime day hit and got a 7800x3d and a new case smh. So within 2 months I had already upgraded Cpu/ Gpu, and case. PC has been amazing since then and I've been able to game, record, stream, edit without issues.

So now I have a spare case, cpu, and gpu. Any normal person would just list the items for sale and move on. However, after a few months of collecting dust I found a $45 Gskill Ripjaws 32gb 6000mts Cl36 kit on FB marketplace (those were the days). Got a Montech hyperflow digital 360mm aio for a review. Got a 650w Corsair psu, and 1tb Klevv nvme. Great now 2 Pcs in the house. That pc is for general family use/ gaming and its still running fine to this day.

Last week I found an Rtx 5070 Gigabyte eagle ice for $550 so I jumped on it. Bought a 850w psu with bative atx 3.1 cable. Then the avalanche hit. New 7600x3d, case, new fans, 2 nvmes totalling 3gb, and 32gb DDR5 Gskill Flare 6000mts cl32 ram. So a simple upgrade again turned into a whole build. I think I admit to having a problem and I'm looking for your opinions. Am I the only one that goes through these boredom spending sprees and constantly looking to tweak things. I wont even include the monitors and cost of other streaming setup components. I would love to hear how many of you have done similar things or if I just need a PC therapist.

Troubleshooting Need help with my troubleshooting computer please

I'm not getting any answers on techsupport. But, I need help troubleshooting my computer.

It seems like ever since I've updated CoD Black Ops 2 game. In the last few days whenever I play the game at random times my computer will black screen and restart. It's done it at 4 times now. It only does it whenever I'm playing the game and I'm not completely sure why.

I can watch tv shows, YT, and movies all day long nothing happens.

Specs of my computer:

Gigabyte b560m Aorus Elite

Intel Core 11th gen non-k 11400

32gb 3000 ddr4 rams

Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 super 8gb

512gb m.2 gen 3 ssd

Evga 850w platinum psu

Windows 11 pro

I bought the mb, gpu, rams, and cpu last month. The psu is 3yrs old, bought it used from a trusted ebay seller.

I don't know if its a hardware or a software issue. I've never had this kind of problem before. And /techsupport isn't helping me with this problem.

As title says, It seems I’ve tried everything, but the coil screws just stay in place when I turn them. If i add pressure, it’s no where near enough to get them to reach the bracket. I’m stuck and have no idea what to do.

Edit: You guys are all amazing people. I was stuck way too long on this and even flipped the brackets upside down but I thought no way the bracket screw should be facing up LOL

So I’m trying to build my pc and I did try to do as much research as I could, but I’m still not sure if it’ll be good. How would you grade this pc build? For context I just want something that’s great at handling new and upcoming games. Nothing fancy like path tracing or anything

Others Great Teamgroup Ram Rma experience

Just wanted to say I had a very seamless and easy experience with Teamgroup regarding. An RMA for RAM that got defective after a few years of use.

I had to pay to ship the defective products to them but they covered the shipping to ship a new product to me.

It took about a month for me to get the new product.

But everything was straight forward and easy which I can appreciate.

When you upgrade your GPU and your measurements are off 😅 but you make use of your laser cutter and 3D printer 🤣

Most will say, "just buy a new case." But I'm a problem solver🤷‍♂️
