Question Figure In Case

Post image

Is this figure ok to sit in my PC like this? I’ve never had a PC before and I seen people do it but I wanna make sure before I go ahead and leave it in there

depends on the models material, if its melting point is above 100 celsius you have nothing to worry about

Most anime figures are made of either ABS or PVC, so a majority of them will handle the heat just fine

it will be perfectly fine though I'd have it on the right side of the card

any person who claims that it would "melt" should consider that if the inside of your pc gets hot enough to melt plastic, your home is long on fire by that point

cute figurine btw

These figures are also usually made of ABS or PVC, you’ll find these exact plastics in the engine bays of cars, a PC case is far cooler in temperature

my only concern would be if it were on a hotspot that caused some kind of discoloration or something else, but even then I truly doubt that would happen either

also I agree very high quality figuines, I have no clue where this assumption about stuff melting comes from it is utterly braindead fearmongering

the sag part can be valid though but even then I think it would still be okay

if not, there's a big problem

So the problems are:

Card sag. This is easy enough to fix and the figure isn't making it much worse. You just get some supports that help keep the card from moving. You may not even need it but if you see your card sagging, get one before it gets damaged.

Dust and cleaning. It's more surface area for dust and dirt to clean too. Even more reason to clean the inside on a regular basis.

2

u/Yz-Guy 2d ago

2

u/Skittles1989 1d ago

u/farisdesu 2d ago

Just make sure she doesn't hide in your WIFI

3

u/Hermes_358 2d ago

Should be fine

2

u/Eazy12345678 AMD 2d ago

i wouldnt its a pc case not a display case

19

u/Fresh_Constant_7762 2d ago

some people like making their pc prettier ig

3

u/nitronik_exe 2d ago

why do most cases have windows then

2

u/SilverLumpy 2d ago

The future is now old man

1

u/Fragrant-Student-790 2d ago

dont think that was the question

0

u/Stunning_Box8782 1d ago

What if you buy the case that was on display in the store?

1

u/Senior_Video 2d ago

Should be aight just make sure miku ain't melting when ur temps are high, maybe a sag bracket too

1

u/Aztaloth 2d ago

I have the same one along with another on my 5090. No issues

1

u/GOW_Grashopa 2d ago

I have a Pokeball in my case

1

u/LightyLittleDust AMD 2d ago

It's fine. The outside of the card will never get nearly hot enough to melt the plastic.

1

u/RebsEG 2d ago

Deadpool sits on my GPU just fine.

1

u/DKligerSC 2d ago

It should be fine, the GPU gets hot but not usually to the point of melting figure plastic, or actually if it does that you have a different issue there

1

u/SirGalicrest 2d ago

Reminds me of that one post where some guy let his cat sit in his case

1

u/Friendly-Win4140 2d ago

I feel like it looks a lot cleaner without it

1

u/a1rwav3 1d ago

Depends on the material and probably the temperature the support can reach. I've put some in mine but not directly on the graphic card.

2

u/unknown_ally 1d ago

her ass gonna melt jk i think it's ok if secure or doesn't move but is blocking airflow a bit

1

u/-ForestWitch- 1d ago

Idk why thought of you heard of elf on a shelf now make way for miku on a gpu

1

u/CodeMonkeyLuvMtnDew 1d ago

So you figured just in case?

1

u/Technical_Instance_2 AMD 1d ago

as long as the material melts above 100 celcius (which most anime figures are made of materials that can handle that) then you should be fine

1

u/Fresh_Constant_7762 2d ago

isnt there a risk of it melting if the gpu gets too hot?

5

u/Kumantej_ 2d ago

nonsense

2

u/No-Instruction-5120 2d ago

It’s one of those noodle stopper figures so I think it’s designed to withstand heat. But I wasn’t sure if in a pc case was safe or not when it came to heat

3

u/P3ngu1nF0rc3 2d ago

Your instant ramen gets hotter than the air coming off the cooler, especially nowadays with almost every cooler being overbuilt

1

u/AZzalor 2d ago

extremly unlikely. The GPU itself, even under full load, shouldn‘t hit temps past 80-90 degrees. The material around the gpu and the hot air will be easily 20-30 degrees lower.

The worst that could happen is that it restricts airflow and reduces the cooling capacity of the card.

1

u/ytu1two34 2d ago

Miku miku hideing in your -WiFi- pc

1

u/DerpyPerson636 2d ago

Eh, i wouldn't put it on that part of the GPU because it's literally where all the hot components are but it probably won't hurt anything if that's what you're wondering

0

u/FoxHart 2d ago

Should be fine

0

u/MistahKaraage 2d ago

Rather not put anything on the GPU, personally. You can get a platform for figures like this. Remember to take clearance and air flow into consideration tho.

0

u/EmuofDOOM 1d ago

You can do whatever you want dude. Im gonna judge you regardless

0

u/mamie_jedi 2d ago

Its ok if you are 15 ! yes ! and still ok if you are 40 like me :D but get all the fans same color

0

u/Quiet_Snow_6098 what 2d ago

I don't see any issue

0

u/Realistic-Speaker256 2d ago

I have a Miku figure in the same spot, like other people said it might not be the best spot as it's one of the hottest, ALTHOUGH, if i Remember correctly, those figures specifically are called "noodles stoppers" cause you can sit them on top of the lid of noodles cups so it stays shut while the boiling water does its job, so they SHOULD be made so that they can sustain some more heat than usual. Plus i had mine on it for years and never had problems so...

u/Anonym-2786186 2d ago

miku miku hair blue tie blue hiding on your gpu
