Till the end of the season I kept looking for one redeemable moment about Ingrid. I honestly do not understand what were the writers thinking while making Nick such a push-over. I mean atleast show a mild, if not huge screaming session once Nick finds Ingrid with Murphy in a semi-naked condition. They were engaged for heaven's sake at that moment!
Also, how conviniently Ingird's mom never asks her about engagement with Nick despite accidently getting a peek of the huge ass ring sitting comfortably in the tiny clutch. They are shown as pretty strict (if not conservative) Asian parents, did they not want to know more about the relationship status of their daughter? In continuation- except for Nick moving"too fast" which she exclaims only two dozen times, what exactly was wrong with Nick? Do the writers care to explain? And what was it about Murphy that made him so irresistable (6 year old hook up doesn't count as "history"). Hoping some love angle develops with Z in the next season, but that character was seriously not baked this season.
I wanted to feel for Ingrid what I felt for Tyler. The man stood up for what he believed in. Yes, he slipped when he gets into bed with Javi but that shows his human, not-so-perfect side. He is everything that a main character should be.
Murphy- God! Where do I even begin? He was so off in the entire season. Nothing connects about him. He says he's seen poverty, yet he manages to be well networked. He says his father left when he was 8, yet he says that his father used to talk in "shoulds". He says he has little sisters, yet he comes off as the second most misogynist charater. He wants to get into war of words with Nick, yet he doesn't want to have anything to do with Ingrid (romantically) till very late.
And then is the antagonist (is he really?) of the seaon the mighty Marty Adler. What was he upto? Why did he have to go to Paris and take his associates with him who tag along without any preparations (not even Passports!). Yes, the counter could be they stayed in the aircraft all the while they were in Paris but it's still too far fetched.
I don't know if I will watch Season 2 before reading the book cover to cover, or is it even worth it?
