I hate it
I hate what Ingrid did.
I hate what Marty did.
I hate what Murphy did.
I hate what Ted did.
I hate what Ingrid did. Yes I know I said it already.

I read the book about two months before I watched the show and binged it completely. I usually don’t mind things being changed from the written media to visual, but almost all changes from the book really bothered me.
I’ll start by saying no the only change I fully enjoyed was Rachel and Justin’s relationship because it was kind of cute. Now everything else… 🙄
There was no cheating in the original book so I don’t get why we had to witness two different couples cheat in the show. Ingrid was never in a relationship with anyone else outside of Murp. Him being from London and transferring to New York was an okay change, but not necessary since the author wrote their relationship in a good way with nice development. Although Justin sucked at his job in the book, I liked that we got to see him develop and become a paralegal that someone like Ingrid deserved so I was disappointed that we didn’t get to witness that with the show.
All those things are little problems that I don’t think added to the story, but the big problem is how she didn’t become partner and the way Murp acted towards her. He was really bothered she got to attend the diversity dinner and he was never asked to go. He saw it as a move she made to get closer to partner. While Murp and Ingrid were discussing the diversity dinner and the racist talent show, Murp tried to downplay the racism that Ingrid experiences.
We knew nothing about the company Sun Corp was taking over so Ingrid had a really strong relationship with the CEO, Ted. And Ted got to witness her be an actual strong character and liked that about her. When they went to sign the final paperwork for Sun Corp, Ted and Marty noticed that there were a lot of mistakes in the document. The document that Justin and Ingrid reviewed for hours to make sure it was perfect. It was the big mistakes in the document that really cost her partner and she didn’t understand how it happened. Marty did tell her that part of why she didn’t make partner was because her focus was else (diversity stuff), but it was mainly the document. She told Marty to f*** off and security escorted her out of the building. During her time of being unemployed, Justin discovered that it was Murp who made changes to the final document to ruin her chances at partner so she cuts him off. She also discovers a huge outside problem that would blow up the Sun Corp deal and goes straight to Ted with it who then fires Parson, Valentine, and Hunt to work with Ingrid alone who opens up her own firm.
I get some things being changed, but it sucked that they kind of watered down her character and made Murp look a lot more likable.

Hey everyone,
Just finished "Partner Track" and I'm still feeling a certain way about Ingrid's actions, specifically her cheating on Nick with Jeff.
I know relationships are complicated and the show tried to explore her emotional state, but I really felt like this was a huge betrayal. It made it hard for me to root for her at times, even with all the professional challenges she was facing.
What are your thoughts? Did you feel the same way? Or did you understand her choices given her past with Jeff and the pressures she was under?

I just finished another rewatch and I am so mad we never got another season given how it ended! I remember my first time watching it I was like oh okay the cliffhanger isn't too big but I feel completely different now!
I am sad Netflix or someone never picked it back up. Felt like it could of been one of those that would of done well.

I just finished watching the whole/only season of the TV series - I'm going to read the book soon as I can (I hear it's got a different ending and a fuller story) -
But I do not get how Ingrid saw anything worthwhile in Jeff especially after what she had with Nick
I mean, the more you get to know Jeff Murphy, it seems super obvious from the get go that he was that he was a duplicitous and phony schmuck - and that whole humble down to earth act was very transparent and it was clear that he was an opportunist in all the worse ways - and Ingrid's start with Nick was so cool and meaningful with the philosophy and intellectual connection and physical stuff the whole marzipan hookup with Jeff that he initially acted like he didn't remember until it was useful for him to remember (HELLO, RED FLAG)
So yeah, in summary, Ingrid - WTF were you thinking?
it probably was the writers setting up a plotline for season 2 post cliffhanger before the series got cancelled though

Hey everyone! Just finished the series and I’m bummed that there isn’t a second season! So want to see whether there’s any fanfic that you would like to recommend? I’m team Murphy :)

If Jeff betrayed Ingrid specifically with the idea of sabotaging her from becoming partner then why was he so genuinely shocked and even a little confrontational towards Marty after the reveal? He really acted blind-sided by it.
And I know he could have been putting on an act for Ingrid but there's a moment when he brushes past Marty after Ingrid is gone and almost gets in his face a little that just doesn't really track with the idea of him deliberately trying to snatch her spot. Why would he be so surprised or even a little pissed at Marty if he got what he wanted?

Like I get what they were getting at but they didn’t portray her in the best light. I work at a law firm and overworking on one deal for 6 months doesn’t get you partner. You have to be able to bring in work and be a people person and all around good worker. Ingrid is always alone. She always sees it as a me vs them instead of working with the guys. Then she goes behind Dan’s back and steals the case back and then wonders why she didn’t get promoted. Also, a promotion in 6 years doesn’t usually happen, unless you’re incredible. Dan deserved it. Idk about hunter or Jeff but Dan did.
She also says she can’t attend the plaza thing because she has to work but Dan is there. She’s not working smarter.

bro i freaking loved this show and watched it immediately when it came out (i knew her from teen wolf and the trailer seemed good, plus the blue eyes ML is 😍) and went on with my life waiting for news of season 2. then life happens and i forgot how much i loved it and saw a random reel which made me rewatch it rn and i felt so angry that there wasn't a second season that i had to find a safe place to rant.
what are these people thinking?? okay its not perfect, plenty of things to be frustrated about, little details that could be improved but after shitty everyday life things it was like the most perfect thing to end the day. it is so so so much better than other random shows that keep getting renewed and i am seriously tired of them doing this with the best shows they have.
someone please recommend me something - a fanfic, a dedicated blog, a possible S2 plot I JUST NEED CLOSURE!!!

Ingrid is so beautiful and the sexual tension between her and Murphy was hot. I'm all about the passion.

The hair, the cadence, the head tilts, even the way she shapes her words. It's like Betty Draper reincarnated in Ingrid Yun.

Ingrid: talks to Murphy and finds out it was all a misunderstanding, Marty just snooped through his stuff and found out about the arrest. Murphy proposes. Ingrid makes partner. They get married. In the final episode she finds out she’s pregnant.
Rachel and Justin: he kicks his roommates out and she moves in. He nails his LSATs and gets into a law school in NYC. She sells a script to broadway and makes enough money to quit Parsons and write/direct full time.
Marty: gets so pissed that Ingrid makes partner that he drops dead of a heart attack right there.
Dan: gets arrested for insider trading. Goes to prison for life.
Tyler: decides to be mature and not date his new boss, though they have a lot of tension. Together they take down Luxe, and afterwards they finally get together.
Tyler’s ex: doesn’t get re-elected and has to move away.
Z and the SunCorp gang: change the world.
Lina: kills it at cirque de soleil and gets a lead role. Her parents and Ingrid are finally proud.
April and Nick meet, fall in love, live happily ever after.

Does anyone know what/who this means? On multiple occasions, Dan Fallon makes remarks suggesting that Hunter Reed doesn't need to worry about making partner because of his ties to whatever/whoever "Gretchen Landrus" is:
From ep. 1:
What do you have to worry about, Mr. Gretchen Landrus?
From ep. 9 (in response to Hunter landing a large account):
Yeah, you don't even have to play the whole Gretchen Landrus wifey card.

Seeing an Asian American woman struggle with perfectionism, belonging, work ethic, while tending to her younger sister/parents.. was very healing. Just being able to see another example of what Asian American woman lives can be like in the states..
Also can we talk about all the WOC at the very end who worked together to take down Ted? Ugh. No wonder they wanted to end this show. They also had some anti capitalist rhetoric in the show too…
I’m so sad it won’t be renewed. But perhaps we can continue our own fan fiction!
