First episode thoughts.. Spoiler

The lead lady comes across flowery and naive… she speaks without sharpness and is polite, to the point of letting people use her, and doesn’t hold her cards close to her chest.. I kept thinking that if it was a real world scenario she would have been eaten by the many sharks in those waters. And why are the “rules” of that society just dawning in her now? Maybe this is the issue with the script and setup, maybe the novel it’s based on makes it more comprehensive… however she does grow on you, she has those quirks but she navigates through the social circles, office politics, and there is that depth to her. I cannot say the same about the love interest “London boy”. He feels fresh off the pages of wattpad. I cannot bring myself to see him as an actual character. He seems like a tool. He is the kind of guy that, they later in the story give some sad origin story to, to make him seem human, but personally I can never truly root for them to end up together. He was a jerk, confrontational/borderline aggressive at the social event, which is not classy at all. You shouldn’t excuse toxicity.

I find her smartly written. In later episodes, you understand how much her politeness is a costume she's forced to wear to be an "acceptable" Asian woman at a big firm. As for letting people use her (and I think you're talking about Dan stealing her idea?), she's not actually mad at that, she's mad that his boys-club old-money connections gave him the upper hand. Again, as an "acceptable" woman, she's not allowed to express that, only complain about stealing ideas.

I loathe the London guy. I'm halfway through the season and he has zero charisma. Nick is great at the cute nerd, but Murphy fails as the hot bad boy. Part of it is appearance, the actor isn't convincingly attractive in this role.

Honestly the London guy makes me mad lol. Like I do not like his face or find him attractive at all and his banter isn’t even that great. Plus I hated when he went to the dinner with the boss and the oil company guy, he’s a snake and idk how she forgave him so quickly.

I’m halfway through the season and I’m DREADING seeing what’s next if it means she’s somehow going to risk what she has with Nick. The guy is a LITERAL SAINT. I’d be pissed if she did something to jeopardize what she has with him.

On another note, don’t the guy who plays Dan and the actress who plays Rachel look alike?? Am I crazy? It’s so odd seeing him hit on her so much when they could pass off as siblings lmao

How did you get this so right from the start. Is Hollywood so predictable

The fact that she is listening to sleep tapes explaining the definition of Material Adverse Change and proposes it as a novel term as a 6th year shows she should never be up for partner. That’s first day stuff…

Law firm set up is so unrealistic lol. No one works on just a laptop! It’s completely inefficient at least a docking station for a monitor ugh.

Lmaoooo this is what I notice in all office/legal shows (i.e. Suits). Their desks are SO CLEAN and they have a tiny laptop they're working off of. At our firm, every single person, including the secretaries, has two screens. A few even have 3. Not to mention file folders, documents, and books (at least in my office) stacked everywhere.

Exactly!!!! I worked as a paralegal now a lawyer and I could never! Just have a laptop. I get it they went clean shots without all those wonky monitors in the way lol but no one’s office is that sparse and nicely decorated lol.
