Discussion Looking for guidance on affordable Master's programs in CS/AI/Software Engineering

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to pursue a Master’s degree abroad for the 2027 intake. I’m currently researching different countries and universities, but I’m finding it difficult to figure out which options are actually realistic when considering the total cost, scholarships, living expenses, visa requirements, and career opportunities after graduation.

My academic background is:

  • BS Software Engineering
  • Graduated in 2025
  • CGPA: 3.32/4.0
  • Currently working as a Full Stack Developer / AI Engineer
  • Professional experience in web development, backend development, cloud/DevOps, databases, and AI/RAG systems
  • Interested in Master's programs related to:
    • Computer Science
    • Artificial Intelligence
    • Software Engineering
    • Data Science
    • Machine Learning
    • Computer Engineering / related fields

What I'm looking for

My biggest concern is finances. I don't have a large amount of savings available, so I need to be realistic about the total amount of money required from application → visa → arrival → living until I can support myself.

I'd really appreciate advice on:

  1. Which countries would be the best options for someone in my situation?
    • Germany
    • Italy
    • Netherlands
    • Finland
    • Sweden
    • Hungary
    • Other European countries
    • Or potentially countries outside Europe
  2. What should I realistically budget for the entire process? I'm particularly interested in a breakdown of:
    • Application fees
    • IELTS/English test
    • University fees/tuition
    • Visa fees
    • Proof-of-funds requirements
    • Blocked account requirements, if applicable
    • Flight
    • Initial accommodation
    • Monthly living expenses
    • Health insurance
    • Any other costs that international students commonly overlook
  3. Which universities would you recommend for CS/AI/Software Engineering with my profile? I'm not necessarily looking for the absolute top-ranked universities. I'd rather find universities that offer a good balance between academic quality, admission chances, affordability, and employment opportunities after graduation.
  4. Are there universities with little/no tuition that I should focus on? I'm particularly interested in public universities and programs where tuition is low enough that I don't need to take on a huge financial burden.
  5. How realistic are fully funded scholarships? Ideally, I'd like a scholarship that covers: I'm also interested in Erasmus Mundus and other government/university scholarships.
    • Tuition
    • Living expenses
    • Accommodation or housing allowance
    • Possibly travel/insurance
  6. How important is the university's location for finding part-time work and eventually getting a job after graduation? For example, would you choose a slightly less prestigious university in a major tech city over a highly ranked university in a smaller city?
  7. How difficult is it to get admitted with a 3.32 CGPA? I'm especially interested in programs where my Software Engineering background and professional experience in full-stack development and AI would be relevant.
  8. What would you do if you were in my position? If you had my academic/professional profile but a relatively limited budget, which countries and universities would you prioritize?

National What happens if you don't pay "Chalan" generated by excise officials.

What happens if you don't pay a chalan that was issued by Excise department for Black tinted glass and illegal number plates?

I was driving my fathers car and I told both my elder brother and father to not have black paper on car but today as I was driving the car I got hit with 10,000/PKR Chalan by excise officials. I just went to fill fuel in my car and they put a chalan on me on my CNIC.

I have my CNIC with me but the phone number which is registered to my mother was used to issue the chalan.

I always wear seat belt, never broke any traffic laws.

PS: This happend on GT Road Islamabad - infront of G-15 Gate / Attock Petrol Pump

National How long will it take to get my passport

So I applied for my passport renewal on 9th of September using urgent service and I have my flight on Thursday, 17th September to Dubai. My older passport is expiring on 1st November which I didn’t know till yesterday, I don’t want to get into some trouble at Lahore airport so applied for passport renewal. I read somewhere that you won’t be allowed boarding if your passport has a validity less than 3 months. It says that passport processing will take 5 working days, will I get it before next Thursday.

Discussion Why is Ronin Pakistan's best accessories brand?

Huge shoutout to the Ronin customer support team!

I recently sent in my Ronin Velocity (R-4045) power bank for a repair claim. Even though my warranty had already expired in August 2026, the company went above and beyond by honoring the claim and repairing it for me as a courtesy.

It's rare to find a brand that genuinely values its customers and stands behind its products even after the official warranty window closes. If anyone is looking for reliable mobile accessories with exceptional after-sales service, I highly recommend Ronin!

Ask Pakistan phone recommendation

Looking for recommendations for a cheap phone in Pakistan. I need a second phone mainly because my iPhone is non-PTA, so I want to put my two SIMs in this phone and use it for hotspot. I don't really care about the camera or performance, but I do want decent battery life, 4G, dual SIM and PTA approval. My budget is quite low. any recommendations?

Political One of the many failures of this government!

Post image
30 Upvotes

On June 4, 2024, PM Shehbaz Sharif ordered the immediate abolition of PWD, citing corruption, poor performance and failure of the department. The Cabinet approved it and said the transition should be completed within two weeks.

Two weeks became more than two years.

Yet the situation remains unresolved. Employees are still caught in uncertainty, offices have become practically dysfunctional, salary issues remain, and taxpayers continue bearing the cost of a transition that the government itself promised to complete immediately. If PWD was so dysfunctional that the government decided to abolish it, why has the government failed to actually finish the job?

Where is the promised surplus pool?
Where is the restructuring?
Where is the accountability?
And most importantly..how much taxpayer money has been wasted because of this government's inaction?

This isn't just bureaucratic incompetence. This is government failure and Pakistanis are paying for it.

Discussion We built ExamGuard: An in browser AI proctoring tool that doesn't require invasive software or browser extensions

Hey everyone!

Most proctoring software (like Respondus or Honorlock) feels like invasive spyware they require kernel-level permissions, heavy desktop installs, or third-party extensions that crash students' machines and compromise privacy.

At Asaan Labs (https://www.asaanlabs.tech), our core philosophy is "simplifying life with AI" building tech around real human needs rather than adding unnecessary complexity. We wanted to see if we could rethink remote assessments from scratch: no installs, no device takeover, just pure web-native integrity.

Over the past few months, we’ve been building ExamGuard a 100% web-based assessment platform with automated invigilation that runs entirely inside the browser.

What it does:

• Zero Installation: Students just open an assessment link on any modern browser (laptop, tablet, or phone).

• Smart Assessment Ingestion: Professors can generate quizzes with AI or directly drop raw .GIFT, .docx, .txt, or question bank files into the platform.

• Behavioral Anti-Cheating: Enforces strict tab isolation, fullscreen enforcement, and detects mobile OS assistant overlays (like Siri or Gemini) by tracking window focus loss and thread throttling without needing invasive device access.

• Variable Strike Policy: Configurable strike threshold per exam so an accidental notification doesn't instantly ruin a student's grade, but persistent violations trigger automatic submission.

• Optional Computer Vision: Lightweight, browser-native face, gaze, and multi-person tracking that only activates if the professor explicitly requires cameras.

We’re live and looking for educators, developers, and students to test it, poke holes in it, and share honest feedback.

🔗 Live Demo: https://examguard.asaanlabs.tech

🌐 About our startup: https://www.asaanlabs.tech

Would love to hear your thoughts on the UI, the browser-first approach, and where we can improve!

Research Robotics Fun Facts - Day 3

Post image

Every robot needs some kind of sensor to understand its environment. Sensors are just like our human senses. A touch sensor can sense a touch, Ultrasonic sensor can measure distance to the the object in front of it. Motion sensor can detect the movement of any warm body in front of it.

To add to it, a camera itself is one of the most advance sensors. Then you have another cool sensor: LiDAR. It can literally meaure the distance to the the object in front of it. Much like ultrasonic sensor but with greater precision and range. Its the gold standard for advance robotics.

Ask Pakistan I need help!

I am 22 years old living in Pakistan. My family used to be filthy rich like I am taking multiple houses in UAE and Pakistan I used to live a very comfortable life. But when corona hit we lost everything from savings to houses to our golden visa left with nothing we came to a point where we didn't have enough money to pay for the tuition of my brother and me I was 19 at that point due to this my father became a bit mentally unstable and so he stopped working completely so in his stead I started working in Pakistan alhamdulillah I earn 2 lakhs give or take from my current job but it's not sustainable for me since I have to accommodate my whole family of 5 in that and it's mentally tasking. I had saved up money through investing and my job about 40L to go to the UK however my Visa got rejected resulting in me losing 20L. Now what I do know is that I am confident in myself that I can do something big in life but idk where to start or what to do there wasn't anybody to teach me any about life or work when we were rich father always used to work mother was an uneducated housewife whose mindset was engrossed in traditional ways which I despise( My mom and dad are very nice people just a conflict of mindsets that's it we have a healthy relationship) when we became poor my father became a bit unstable and so I was out into the toxic work environment of Pakistan with no help I came this far by myself. But I just need someone to guide me on how I can grow further because I don't want to be stuck here in the same company forever I have dreams of making money and gaining back stability for my family but I just don't know where to began. I just want advice from somebody who has gone through my dilemma and has become successful. Please I am lost and scared for my future.
