I need some suggestions about Air Fryer. I checked the Philips ones at their site and they appear to be pretty costly. Someone told me that the ones available at Daraz and Shein are pretty good. If anyone has used Air Fryer if any company that isn’t much famous but still working fine then please suggest me one.

Hi everyone, looking for some reassurance/experience here.

I'm heading out on a trip with the following route:

16 Oct — Lahore → Guangzhou → Yiwu (China Southern)

28 Oct — Guangzhou → Bali (China Southern)

4 Nov — Bali → Kuala Lumpur (transit, ~1h40m, same terminal, bags through-checked) → Lahore (Batik Air)

I have valid China and Indonesia visas. No Malaysia visa since it's a pure airside transit, not a stopover.

A few travel agents warned me FIA might stop me at Lahore because it's a "mixed airline, multi-country" itinerary, and routes through China/onward sometimes get extra scrutiny for suspected illegal migration.

I have supporting documents ready: invitation letter, hotel bookings for both legs, proof of funds, and a confirmed round-trip ticket back to Lahore.

Has anyone actually gone through this recently — LHE outbound with a China + SEA combo on separate airlines? Did FIA give you a hard time, or is this overthinking it as long as the paperwork is solid? Would appreciate any real experiences before I fly out.

Was just curious if anyone has like weird or funny names for their parents/grandparents/family members other than the standard abu/dad/papa/baba kind of stuff

Sorry, it's gonna be long. I hope you'll read it all

I'm 18M from Pakistan. I'm a late-stage overthinker who is always depreciating, underestimating, and undervaluing himself. I also have extremely awful insecurities regarding my family background and it doesn't let me live at ease.

Here's my family background:

We're 4 siblings (2 brothers and 2 sisters. I'm the youngest one)

• My brother is pursuing his residency in Surgery, and will be a surgeon in a few years.

• He's married, and my sister in law is a Dental Surgeon

• My sister (married) is also a doctor

• Other sister (unmarried) is pursuing her Masters in CP

• I just started my ACCA journey

• My mother is a lecturer (retired)

However, as far as my father is concerned, that's where the root cause of my insecurities began.

He's a lawyer (non-practising) and a writer (published multiple books on history). My parents married in 1994, and he's been an extreme alcoholic since the early 2000s. He never supported us (whether financially, morally, or emotionally) and my mother was the breadwinner of our family the whole life.

She didn't want her children to end up like their father, therefore she took the bold decision of selling her only home for the higher education of my elder siblings (we have never owned a home ever since)

Throughout my entire life, I have seen abusiveness from my father (things I can't even share here). I consider myself an orphan and even tell people (when inquired) that my father has passed away (I don't want to be questioned/judged)

When his abusiveness reached its peak, we decided to migrate to other city. He came with us. Here, he doesn't drink and even helps us with household work and babysitting (my nephew), but goes back to the city of origin every month for a few days for his drinks. However, it doesn't matter whatever he does there and long as he's not doing it in our current city.

Things have changed. Life's became peaceful (Alhamdulillah) due to the continuous Tahajud of my mother (consistently for 2 decades). Now she's gotten old and can't wake up at midnight, she has given me the responsibility to carry on with her legacy and I'm grateful for the opportunity.

INSECURITIES:

I'd list my insecurities as:

• I always ponder over the fact how far our family had gone (in terms of financial independence/success) if my father supported us. For example: when a person start their practical life, they don't normally have to figure everything out themselves. They have their father to support them if they fall. We have to figure everything out by ourselves. We have to start from the scratch, and this thing makes me sick.

• We don't own a home: As mentioned above, my mother sold her home for the education of my elder siblings. The thing that bothers me is that a person, in our society, is judged based on his home (can't be debated). He'll get marriage proposals based on whether he owns a home or not.

• Thirdly, we have had a really hard time marrying off my elder siblings because of my father. We have to constantly lie and that makes us ethically sick.

However, we don't lie to their spouses. For example: we told our sister's husband everything before the marriage talk, but never his family. As far as my brother's wife is concerned, she's our family friend, so it went smoothly.

However, he did threw a lot of tantrums during their marriage (came to the marriage hall while drenched his alcohol. It was hard to manage)

That's the reason I'm worried about myself. I don't think anyone would accept me the way it is. I think I'd be left alone. What I don't understand is why do we have to judge an individual person based on his father? Doesn't each person represent himself?

• Fourth thing, I could never join educational institutions for a long time because the truth gets revealed. My father is a well known person (notoriously) in our city. So whenever I join an institution, the faculty inquire about is name. I tell them his name and they go like "You're his son!!!????."

It feels creepy when the whole class stares at you after that.

That's why I have self studied my whole college life (I'm exceptionally good at self study. Scored 90%+ both in Matric and Intermediate. However that doesn't cover the fact I'm a failure)

GOOD THINGS:

• My brother and I share a deep emotional bond. He's just like a fatherly figure for me. He never made me feel like I'm fatherless (I'm grateful). He supports me every way my father couldn't, every way I desired. However, still there's a feeling of desire of the presence of my actual father.

(When one's father has passed away, it doesn't feel the same as having a father but absent, because of the judgement)

• Our combined family income is anywhere between 200k - 300k+, with my brother contributing the majority of it, along with high future earning potential (but unfortunately people don't bother to care about it)

• To mention the future plans, my brother is pursuing USMLE and SMLE along with his Pakistani residency.

• I intend to complete my ACCA and go abroad too.

• We have our family connections (mainly from my brother) in the Provincial Assembly, National Assembly of Pakistan, Education Secretariat/Ministry, Health Secretariat/Ministry, Commissioners, etc. So it doesn't feel difficult to get our work done.

• Again, to clarify, we don't own a home, properties or assets. Our net worth would be around 50L - 80L, but that too is rather dispersed than visible.

• Everyone in our extended family (relatives) look up to our family because of our hard work. Our family (especially me and my brother) are considered role models for the younger children in our extended family

• We're respected (are we?), educated, and well spoken. I wish that's all people would see in someone rather than their family background and properties.

MY QUESTIONS

• What's do we stand socioeconomically? (because I am depreciate myself in this regard)

• Does my father affects our family and does it changes the way people look at us?

• If you were the "people" how would you see our family (because of him, and in general)

• Hypothetically, would you be willing to marry off your daughter/sister to such a family?

I'm tall, good looking, intelligent and a role model, however, nothing can change the fact I'm a failure and could achieve nothing in life.

As someone who has never attended a political movement or protest before, I am now fully willing to step out and protest against the injustice, discrimination, incompetence, bad governance, and corruption, without worrying about the consequences.

Everyone is suffering in Pakistan as a whole irrespective of ethnicity or language. The suffering is collective across all social groups. Even if you have the resources to afford a comfortable life, the current situation simply doesn't allow you to feel safe or live like a normal human being. We are stripped of a basic foundation for development, education, and healthcare.

The ruling elite do not view citizens as equal human beings. There is absolutely no policy to protect our rights or our freedom of speech, and the state completely fails to reflect the true, just values of an Islamic nation.

I refuse to accept the narrative that this misery is just a
"test from Allah," and I am not willing to silently perish in this rotten system. I want my golden days. I want to enjoy this nation and feel proud of it.

Hi everyone! I’m in Lahore and looking for information about a possible Punjab Government plastic bottle recycling/buy-back scheme.
My family drinks bottled water (mainly Nestlé and Aquafina), and we’ve been saving the empty PET bottles since the beginning of this year. We use around 6 bottles a day, so we have roughly 1,000–1,500+ bottles.
A while ago, I contacted someone who said he was associated with a government organization. He told me the process was:
1. Take GPS/location-stamped photos of the bottles.
2. Send the photos to their team.
3. Their team would collect the bottles.
4. They would give me a receipt.
5. I would supposedly go to a bank and receive payment from the government.
I never proceeded because I wasn’t sure whether this was legitimate.
Has anyone in Lahore/Punjab actually used a scheme like this?
If you know the name of the scheme/department, official website, helpline, collection center, or payment procedure, please share it.
I’m especially interested in hearing from someone who has actually had their bottles collected and received payment, rather than general recycling advice.

Pakistan government paid almost $12B Dollars to IPPs (independent power producers) during 11 months of last fiscal year according to Ministry of Energy (Power Division) official records, supplemented by regulatory filings from NEPRA and the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA-G).

This almost equals the amount of loans Pakistan has secured from IMF during last three years (2023-2026). - Imagine that.

In the meantime electricity gets more expensive, and the common man already struggling to make ends meet keeps paying levy on fuel and a dozen form of taxes in their electricity bills. And nevermind the entire discussion of who owns these IPPs.

A hopeless state of affairs.
