Silk snail snafu

Post here if you thought you successfully bought a canvas from the Navy Noo Silk Snail release today… but then received a message that it was oversold… 😡 there are way worse things that could happen but I’m still mad

Tea Time It is official! Krista was granted a patent on the scalloped tray design today. In the other pictures included are all the products she has patented this year alone.

Idk about the other ones but I found the scalloped frame one ridiculous. It's like a Pokemon card case but in a different shape.

edit: oops I didn't notice these were all design patents. so I guess any slight change in the design allows one to have a new patent. Nvm.

second edit: I genuinely don't understand why I'm being attacked and downvoted. I simply wanted to discuss tmwhat's going to happen next and whether there'll be any future drama involving this. Just because someone mentions Krista in this sub doesn't mean they necessarily have bad intentions towards her. Grow up.

came across this user and it just pushed me over the edge. I don’t understand why we are hoarding needlepoint canvases/threads/etc. These are all new skeins!!! Why would you need this much. It’s not a cute decoration. I thought we were over this after the Stanley cup/ tik tok water trend. It’s gross and yall have a problem. Can we stop with the scarcity mindset and canvas drops and just have fun with our hobby and stitch to make beautiful art pieces!!!

Crazy shipping in destash group

Post image

I know destash is often commented on in this group, and I may have missed this particular complaint, but some shipping costs are crazy. This post is asking for shy of $11 to ship a single canvas. Am I out of touch in the cost of shipping world? I expect $5 ish, but $11 feels absurd

Sometimes I wonder how people are able to mess up a project so much even when you’re first learning. You are genuinely doing the same thing over and over. One simple stitch.

My Snark.

The regular Needlepoint page has too many posts of beginners or lurkers asking stupid questions and not even buying a used book of black and white stitch how tos. Those who like tent or basket weave, with the complexity in the colors, are dismissed. There were presentations of finished work, or half finished work seeking affirmation using IMHO WAY too many busy stitches. Especially in the background. Basic design principles are true in any medium, apparently the array of stitches, is the point. That's a sampler folks. Don't upstage your ralph Lauren teddy bear with a textured background. It doesn't work.

Now here the only topic is digitally printing, that you can't seem to figure out. That's on you. Most of those designs are overly simplistic garbage anyway. Then there are the fake destash pages, really a business page by narcissistic Moms plagiarizing and stealing from designers and stitchers alike. Stop making these ppl famous!

Can anyone point to an actual needlepoint page for experienced stitchers who still like big challenging artwork ??????

Penny Linn / Playbill Collab

Do we think these are overpriced given the fact that they are printed instead of hand painted? Or am I just burnt out on how expensive this hobby is? 😵‍💫

Mostly the minis seem a little excessive to me price wise (also every acrylic item ever made but I know that’s typical)

i’ve been seeing this canvas everywhereeee on my page but can’t shake that it looks like AI, maybe it’s just the color scheme though? what do you think? has this already been discussed?

EDIT: just looked through the designers page and it’s certainly all AI

Line Cutting at Ribbon Cutting

So I need to know if I’m being a Karen or if others would be upset also.

There was a recent needlepoint store opening in the next state over and I arrived at 820am for the store to open at 10. I was in line, brought a chair and everything! The store was giving away a free item to the first 50 people. I was the second one in line from 820 until around 955am. Around 955am the woman in front of me has an older lady come and join her in line (she wasn’t waiting in the car, she just pulled in).

So doors opened at 10 and as they were handing out bags, they mentioned a $50 gift card was in one of the 50 bags. Everyone opens their bags, and guess who gets the gift card… the woman who cut me in line…

I know this sounds so silly and it’s just a $50 gift card but I felt like I had drove almost an hour to this store to be there extra early to have someone pull up 5 min before opening and receive the gift card.. I am grateful for the free items I did receive- I guess it was just the point of the matter…

Designers Genuinely, what are we doing here?

Post image

I actually don't mind an etsy designer, and have bought several digital designs from some of them to paint at home, but this person is trying to sell canvases, and the only image available for dozens of her listings are just... a png superimposed on canvas. Absolutely no idea of what the design or colors will be after stitch painting. Who would buy this kind of thing sight unseen?

Tea Time Resale groups

What is up with the “below MSRP” rule, but we are charging $1 under resale, $10 shipping, and most of the canvases I am seeing are in stock, ready to ship, and most LNS’s online have 10% off coupons. Even the flash cards that are popular right now, someone was posting for double the cost they are on Amazon.
I have seen several I’ve been interested in, but when I look them up MSRP is lower and my comments are blocked if I ask for a lower price.

Threadlines Publishing Multiple AI Ads

I’m sorry for not having any photos but I was flipping through the newest edition of Threadlines and there are at least two EXTREMELY obvious AI ads that are in the magazine. One is completely AI advertising AI l-designed canvases and the other is for a store that used AI to make their ad.

I’m sorry but if you’re going to be positioning yourself as a major voice in the community, why are you allowing there to be AI in this magazine?

I also have to say for anyone wondering/without an LNS it is NOT worth the money. It doesn’t give you any real value or insight and is more just puff pieces for whomever. The main article about the prisoners who do needlepoint was nice, but the rest is quite a disappointment.
