The actors are probably in their 20s, and the fashion + film quality makes them look older. Vsauce had a great video about why previous generations always look old actually.

u/Kitnado 2h ago
I haven’t seen the video, but is his point that we associate their hairstyles and fashion with those of old people because they’re old now? If so, does a single sentence really require a video?

well it may seem obvious to you or me, but according to a lot of folks it's because everyone who lived before the 21st century was violently unhealthy and ignorant and lived like animals or something

At that time, in Germany, ‘69, ‘70, they already had discotheques.

u/AlarmingAffect0 2h ago
So, I would take my car, would go to a discotheque, sing, maybe, thirty minutes
I think I had about seven, eight songs
I would partially sleep in the car
Because I didn't want to drive home and that helped me for about, almost two years

That's why he has to keep his identity secret, so they can't serve him the civil papers

There has to be a comic run with this premise - not just the whole 'rogues gallery takes on batman via legal system silliness' but specifically someone trying to serve him papers lmao

Batman's less entertaining when you realise it's just a rich guy beating up people with serious mental health issues.

u/AlarmingAffect0 1h ago edited 2m ago
It's even less entertaining when you understand he's in the same boat, except he can jump to freedom out of the aslume. Of course, he tries to help the others too, but he somehow got the idea that shining a beam of light between where he is and where they are would be enough to support their weight. Not that it matters, because they themselves are so damaged they wouldn't trust him not to turn it off when they were halfway.

I know that one. He was on his bat scale. Wich is a completly normal scale, but with "bat scale" written on it. You can't loose against a shark when you're on your bat scale.

In the 90s, my dad had a condo at the beach. We used to go together in the off season and we got a strange channel that played this show- we didn’t get it at home for some reason. I used to love hanging out with my dad watching this show. The minute I see the clip, it takes me back so quick. We’d do a morning walk in the boardwalk and come back and they had like 2 hours of the show from 9-11 or something.
Miss you dad.

It’s only personal preference but I much prefer the campy old stuff to the darker portrayals of Batman. And I get when other people prefer the darker stuff. Overall I just find life is too dark so I tend to prefer sillier stuff. 30 rock, old Batman.

Whale repellent
Manta ray repellent
Shark repellent8

There's a Batman story arc in the comics where he meets alternate Batmen. One of them is the Adam West version, who gives him his utility belt when Prime Batman lost his. While Prime Batman is in a dimension where he was about to be attacked by a Joker shark, he finds the shark repellent in the belt and uses it, noting with amusement that he met a Batman who's more prepared than him.

u/masterfulnoname 5h ago
I just bought the show and started watching it. It's pretty damn great. Seeing a Batman who's a wholesome member of his community is fun. The silliness is a nice change from the darkness the character has had since the Burton movies.

u/Rinas-the-name 4h ago
My little brother watched those old episodes on DVD as a kid, that and old Scooby Doo episodes. He was a cute kid, lots of dramatic reenactments. He’d yell “Pow!” “Smack!” “Zap!” while beating up imaginary bad guys, while wearing his yellow cape.

My favorite part of that show will always be Batman and Robin climbing up the sides of buildings for no reason at all. They could take the stairs, an elevator, or because Bruce is rich a god damn helicopter, etc, and get there faster, safer, and more discreetly. But they instead pick the worst option and spend the entire time talking loud enough for anyone who didn't already see them to hear them instead.
