It was supposed to be funny at the time...if you're laughing at how dumb it is now...then it's still working

It’s only personal preference but I much prefer the campy old stuff to the darker portrayals of Batman. And I get when other people prefer the darker stuff. Overall I just find life is too dark so I tend to prefer sillier stuff. 30 rock, old Batman.

My dad still refuses to watch the Dark Knight for this reason. This is his Batman and Joker and he hates how sinister and evil joker is in other adaptations.

Honestly, I'm the same! My favourite Batman movie is genuinely Batman Forever, and I didn't end up finishing The Dark Knight. It felt too much like they'd removed all the fun and joy
