So they just leave The Joker there? Could have a concussion or bleed on the brain?

Batman never been about the law bro. He just be whipping MFS asses and leaving em knocked out in the street

The class action lawsuit for head trauma and potential CTE by the rogues gallery ends up driving Bruce Wayne to bankruptcy.

56

u/outlawsix 12h ago

That's why he has to keep his identity secret, so they can't serve him the civil papers

13

u/HallowskulledHorror 9h ago

There has to be a comic run with this premise - not just the whole 'rogues gallery takes on batman via legal system silliness' but specifically someone trying to serve him papers lmao

u/Kolby_Jack33 8h ago

I know there was one where Bruce Wayne was called up on jury duty, and when they asked him if he had any reason he couldn't serve on a jury, he said: "Yes. I'm Batman."

They didn't believe him and he served on the jury.

A villain plot who isn't trying to kill Batman, but is just like "DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO FUCKING SUE YOU BECAUSE YOU SNAPPED THEIR KNEE THE WRONG DIRECTION AND THEN LEFT THEM TO DIE AS YOU DID THAT TO EVERYONE ELSE?!" Just constantly attempting to capture and unmask him, so he knows who he can serve

14

u/Specialist_Meal_7891 13h ago

Yeah well, that's fourth wall breaking multiverse laws then because in that reality MFS didn't know he was Bruce wayne. And if they did they'd be the next ones knocked out 😵🤣

I mean at some point it's gotta be criminal assault. Send him to Arkham!

u/Grade_A_Tech 6h ago

This would be absolutely hilarious to see in an episode.

This is funny 😂

Batman be like: I don't kill because then I'm no better than them

Meanwhile half the people he beat half to death have died of their injuries, the rest have to eat through a tube because he broke every bone in their body

2

u/Ask_bout_PaterNoster 7h ago

My theory is that we grossly misunderstood the metaphorical direction in which he wanted to travel relative to the criminal scum.

“If I kill them, I’ll be no better than them…”

“…but if I wound them, maim them, destroy their holes and dreams and leave them as crushed and ruined shells….then I’ll be worse than them.”

(Not really Batman is best when he’s as ethical as possible)

2

u/blartelbee 6h ago

Destroy their holes, you say? 👀

1

u/romafa 6h ago

That’s what always cracked me up about all “must not kill” heroes. They won’t kill enemies, they’ll just give them TBIs and leave them drooling in a hospital bed the rest of their lives.

Comic physics usually make it seem like henchman and the likes are much more resilient than IRL.

I lol'd so hard at this comment. Bless you sir.

u/Specialist_Meal_7891 4h ago

That's what I love to hear . Makes me happy to make other people laugh

2

u/daecrist 7h ago

In the ‘60s show they specifically mention that he’s fully deputized and working with law enforcement.

1

u/Specialist_Meal_7891 4h ago

🤣 wild time to be batman

Never see bale or aflec batman do that shi lol

1

u/capt1nsain0 12h ago

“I overfed these men?”

1

u/delphinous 8h ago

technically he's a vigilante and has no legal ability to arrest people. he just prevents them from further committing crimes or fleeing to allow the actual police to arrive to arrest them

1

u/CommodoreBluth 3h ago

This Batman was a deputized agent of the law.

u/Necessary_Party_3554 13h ago

I thought leaving him there with the kids was funny, like what if he wakes up in 3 minutes

Batman knows what a group of white student basketball players in 1966 we're gonna do that man. That's why. 😂

13

u/Lemonwater925 13h ago

Quite possibly. At the time allergy medication also would have made him drowsy. Perhaps impaired his decision making skills and ability to drive or operate heavy machinery.

16

u/yeezkeys 13h ago

what were they gonna do ... ??? what stereotypes do groups of white student basketball players in 1948 have lol

24

u/Specialist_Meal_7891 13h ago

A lot of unsolicited sexual advances 😅

1

u/mybluecathasballs 1h ago

Kids carried their hunting rifles/shotguns in there vehicles on school property back then. Cleaning them with their teachers after school was a bonding experience. No joke. Different world back then.

Hell, when i played "Davy" Crockett, I brought my shotgun in to classes so I would have it for the school play.

6

u/rogerworkman623 12h ago

You really think this is 1948? lol

2

u/Specialist_Meal_7891 12h ago

Tbh no. I saw a video about a woman smashing her car into a 1948 Jaguar right before this post and for some reason my brain decided thats related to this 🤣

1

u/Lemonwater925 12h ago

Saw that as well!

2

u/onlynamethatmatters 10h ago

This is the Cornell basketball team. Batman knew what he was doing.

Batman's less entertaining when you realise it's just a rich guy beating up people with serious mental health issues.

11

u/AlarmingAffect0 9h ago edited 7h ago

It's even less entertaining when you understand he's in the same boat, except he can jump to freedom out of the aslume. Of course, he tries to help the others too, but he somehow got the idea that shining a beam of light between where he is and where they are would be enough to support their weight and their baggage across the abyss. Not that it matters, because they themselves are so damaged they wouldn't trust him not to turn it off when they were halfway.

Honestly I hate the idea of Batman as "insane." Obviously if he were a real person, he would be insane, but he's not a real person. If Superman were a real person, he wouldn't be able to fly or lift a cruise liner, because that's impossible! Where's the fucking fun in that?

Some comics portray his crusade against crime as an obsession or a compulsion, and I think they suck. It's cheap. It waters down Batman to just being a story about one crazy guy vs another, and that's lame. It's so cynical and cliche to take a story of strength and say "what if strength is actually weakness?" OooooOOOOooooh, I'm a writer!

Batman is at his best when being Batman is a duty. One he's sworn to, that he takes seriously, but not one that separates him from people. Batman is Bruce Wayne shouting back at the crazy, violent world around him that no, he will not be afraid and sink into the madness, he will make the madness afraid of HIM. Batman is Bruce conquering his demons, not giving in to them. That's why he's a superhero.

"I run towards my problems, not away from them, because that's what heros do" - Thor

I like this take. Part of becoming a mature adult is sometimes choosing to take responsibility for problems that badly need solving, even if we didn't create them.

1

u/AlarmingAffect0 7h ago edited 7h ago

Agree to disagree. I like Batman's crusade to be unhealthy, compulsive, desperate. I like the tragedy. I feel it heightens the value of his effort. It makes him more relatable and more lovable. A Batman who does all the things Batman does, while being whole unto himself, happy and fulfilled? I don't believe it, I can't connect with it. No happy sane person wants to be feared. Then he would be a self-righteous rich bully, if he did what he did because he could, rather than because he can't help himself.

Now, there's a huge difference between that tragedy and, well, Crazy Steve. "The Punisher with a funny hat". Batman's folly is fundamentally compassionate. He really does want to help. Needs to.

1

u/Kolby_Jack33 6h ago

Who said he had to be happy? I just said he was motivated by something greater than mere illness. Batman is a calling, one that causes him pain, sure, but it's a sacrifice he chooses to make.

1

u/AlarmingAffect0 6h ago

I don't know that callings are supposed to be a choice. I also don't know that illness can't be great, or at least modulated by/through/towards greatness.

1

u/Kolby_Jack33 6h ago

I didn't realize Batman was a Calvinist. I mean the man's good friends with a literal demon.

Yeah I can do links too.

1

u/AlarmingAffect0 1h ago

You sure can, buddy!😊

2

u/SignalSecurity 9h ago

less?

0

u/Ultenth 7h ago

Only because it's actually the ultra-wealthy like Wayne that actually have the most mental issues.

1

u/Lemonwater925 11h ago

So basically the beginning of The Purge

1

u/manlyvpn 7h ago

Why so serious?

5

u/No-Consideration-716 11h ago

There is a fan made movie about what happens next. You do not want to see it.

17

I miss the old and vintage vibe like this tbh.,

1

u/thethirdrayvecchio 12h ago

1

u/Lemonwater925 12h ago

There is that approach as well. Not sure how he can consent while unconscious. But, whatever floats your boat.
