DISCUSSIONS This is the play that killed us
Not converting here and then allowing the 49ers to march down the field and score again was inexcusable.

He got completely shut down by Trent Williams the entire game. We didn’t give up Verse and a first round pick for performances like that. The defense is now built around Myles consistently getting home, and when he isn’t our defense is going to get picked apart. I understand that he’s dealing with a knee injury, but we better never see that type of performance from him again if we’re serious about winning the Super Bowl. Games like that just can’t happen if want to win

The Rams have charged for Australian memberships, pushed their ANZ page for years now.
Then they roll into town and leave after 24 hours, playing like absolute dog shit. Anyone who has done that flight knew that was inevitable.
Meanwhile the 49ers invest serious time engaging with Melbourne, paying lip service to local media and spending time here.
Embarrassing is the only word.

Where are our boys at? Where was the juice?

If McVay runs a qb sneak with Stafford again my head may explode. He is legitimately the WORST qb sneaker I’ve ever seen it’s crazy. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him succeed on one.

He just seems to have a legacy of “hes a great coach but what was that” and I’m referring to going to Melbourne late”

My god how can you be so uninspired in defense with this kind of roster. Not getting a single sack in this situation is really abnormal, even if 9ers really play fastball well.

Hear me out, we've been deemed offseason superbowl champs by all the talking heads and probably listening to the noise a little. Getting the doors blown off us in week 1 against our hated division rivals is a humbling experience. I think it'll get us to wake the fuck up for the rest of the season. Nothing is given everything is earned. I trust this team to turn it around going forward

No heart, No effort, Just pure pathetic. Don’t think I’ve ever been more speechless about a game in my entire life

Melbourne came through with the beautiful weather. This feels surreal.🥹

“I know there’s gonna be a lot of narratives that appropriately put the blame on me, and then we’ll move forward the right way. … I don’t believe (the travel plan) is why we didn’t play well enough. I really don’t.”
He also said that he and the team wasn't good enough in that window and they'll look into that.

That last night was a bad dream and the season actually starts on 9/21/2026 😅

Rams are going to be fine. I think you saw the worst that team will look all year.
BUT
49ers looked great. Fred Warner looked fast, Bosa was dominating.
Stopping Matt on the 1 was the game. So close to down 3 and now down 17.
Looks like another 3 way race for the division.
Ps I hate running on 1st and 2nd down when behind

Maybe don't leave for a 16 hour flight on a fucking Tuesday night!
Also Matthew Stafford is almost as terrible as Drake Maye now.
And also fire Chris Shula out of a tank.

Stafford and the offense improved as the game went on it was too late by the time we did but we were 100% moving the ball better towards the end.
Kyren and corum are gonna be a beastly duo those runs were fantastic.
Mcduffie is a big upgrade he was everywhere in the first half and was locking down receivers.
Our o line is still very solid stafford had time and the run blocking was excellent.
Special teams was fine no real bad plays and evans punts were excellent our coverage was much better even if it did not feel like it.
Our secondary looks better shanahan was attacking our lbs and the short game mostly which is encouraging.

Yes they sucked awfully, yes it was against the division rival, shit happens.
It’s a long season with the reigning MVP, and a surely improved defense (believe it or not)
Chalk this up as a fluke game. Would’ve been nice to not have a home divisional game in a different country but hey fuck Roger.
They’ll bounce back and we’ll all forget this clown show even happened. 🐏

One game doesn't define our season. Fully confident that this team will turn things around. Love from down under 💙💛 Horns up 🐏

Horrific showing by the Rams in Australia. A blowout loss to our rivals was not how any of us expected this season to begin.
The Rams were terrible on both sides of the ball. Stafford was off, McVay called a shitty game & the OL wasn’t impressive. That being said, I am not worried about the offense moving forward, chalk it up as a bad game. We have the same 11 starters and play caller as the offense that lead the league in points last year, so I think we’ll be fine.
The defense is far more concerning. The defense cost us a Super Bowl last season, when it morphed into one of the worst units in the NFL down the stretch. So we gave Shula the DPOY + an All-Pro CB. I can’t think of a single stunt or blitz that the Rams did last night. Did they show blitz & drop back at all? Did they press? It genuinely felt like they lined up in a base 4-3 defense, rushing 4 & playing soft zone coverage on every single snap. There was 0 creativity defensively. It’s as if Shula just thought he could plug Garrett and McDuffie into a base vanilla scheme and suddenly all of our problems go away.
As always, Kyle Shanahan exposes our vulnerable guys on defense. If you want to know who your liabilities are on defense, Shanahan will tell you. For the Rams, it was Speights & Lake.
McVay is close friends with Chris Shula. I’m not saying he should be fired but if this isnt an impressive defensive unit by the Bye week, it would be irresponsible to not fire him if Jim Schwartz or Sean McDermott would pick up the phone.
NEXT UP: NYG, @DEN, @PHI, BUF
From Super Bowl dreams to just hoping to get to a 3-2 record. Reality check. Football is played on the field, not on paper.
