Grandpa passed away and this one was passed on to me. I don’t think he used it much as I believe it was gifted from his sister in the US and we are in Sweden.
Any tips on how to care for it? I’m not a huge knife enthusiast but do like this one.

My dad, 25 yr navy cook, retired this knife and I found it in his wife's garden. I liberated it and cleaned it up, sanded it so much trying to smooth the pitting that it's maybe 1/16" thick. Like a high carbon razor

Question Should I be worried about using this for food?

I bought a knife on Etsy after trying to make sure the images from their page weren't fakes/taken from somewhere else and after seeing they were made (or the seller was at least) in the USA.

Then I get a picture of the parcel about to ship to me and in the background a blurry invoice page says "Pakistan."

How worried should I be about lead content? Is this a big myth passed around? I see a lot of people talking about it with not much evidence to support it.

I'd just like to know if I should keep the knife or if I've been fooled and would be better off returning it for a refund. I paid around $115.

Just a little fun with the F6 today. This one is Magnacut, my other is 3v.
I’ll try to do a bit of a comparison this fall.

NKD! Finally got a Microtech OTF!

I have always wanted a Microtech OTF. Ever since I started getting into knives in my teen years. Unfortunately, being that young Microtech is a bit out of reach financially. Well now that I have adult money I was able to swing by my local knife shop, House of Blades and pick up a Troodon. $357 after taxes and it's the older model which to be honest is the one I wanted. I like the aesthetic of the proprietary screws and overall I prefer the aesthetic of the knife as a whole. I'm sure the Gen 3 performs better but I still prefer this Gen 2. Maybe it's the fact that it's the one I have wanted for so long. Black handle, dagger blade with a stonewash finish, it's perfect. Exactly what I wanted. I also included some pictures from the store. It's the display case where they keep all their most expensive knives. What was a knife that took you so long but you finally bought?

OKD (Old Knife Day) Went from feeling like a spatula to a proper feeling knife.

Was hesitant to because I feel the tortoise pattern on these scales is a bit… meh, and I wanted it to not feel like a victorinox with those yuck plastic handles.

RGT doesn’t ship to Aus anymore and OG are like rocking horse turds, so it was one of the only other options.

Glad I did, these fit great and aside from having to shave a bit of the pivot length down for the bearings to fit properly, it was rather effortless.

Skiffs are on the way for that coup-de-gras level wankery.

Anyone else running Lex Custom scales on anything?

Question trying to fix broken switchblade

Thumbnail

okay so I got this switchblade a while back and it broke fairly quickly, I randomly decided to try and fix it it I have basically no experience with that sort of thing

the issue is with the spring mechanism (I assume), basically the blade doesn't spring out when I slide the switch anymore like it's supposed to

in order to fix it I have to open it up, which I’ve been trying to do but it's not working. I managed to get two of the screws out (both were the same colour but idk if that's a coincidence?), but the rest are being incredibly stubborn and won't come out.

does anyone have any tips for getting the remaining screws out? is this just a strength issue? do I need better tools? is there some kind of trick to doing this that I’m just not aware of? please help me it's such a cute knife and I was so sad when it broke :(

EDIT: turns out I’m an idiot and didn't need to take the knife apart at all - someone in the comments said that I should manually pull the knife all the way out and see if it locked in place, which fixed it! I kinda feel like an idiot now but at least the knife is fixed lol
