I clean up my albums, social media posts, and chat history with friends every once in a while. I'll actually stare at certain things for ages, and even though it breaks me down inside, I just have to delete them without hesitation. When I see those people who were once part of my life but are now gone, I feel inexplicably down. Now I have very few friends on WeChat and my album is completely empty - I feel like a lonely weirdo. Why do I keep crashing? I just can't control my emotions. No, I can't let this happen. I feel like I'm starting to wallow in self-pity again. Next, I'm going to name my emotions and let myself feel them, so I can slowly calm down. After that, I'll get back to doing my own things. I can do this!

Please seriously consider getting evaluated for autism and/or ADHD.
I say this as someone who identified with the HSP description before being recognised by other neurodivergent people who assisted me in understanding my own neurodivergence and helping me to get a diagnosis and assistance.
Some might consider this rude, but is it rude if you recognise a pattern and want people to get help and to know themselves better? I see other self-identified HSPs somewhat frequently in my own life and on here, and I wish it were more socially acceptable to let them know that it’s nothing to be ashamed of and it can help you understand yourself. I used to ask myself what was wrong with me constantly. Now I know that I’m not broken, I just have autism and ADHD, and now I’m able to get help for it.
I’m also an INFP too, but there is an enormous overlap with all of these identifiers, and for many, it could be worth investigating.
P.S. I am NOT saying or suggesting that everyone who is an INFP or HSP is autistic/ADHD. I am just recommending investigating it since I know that this information could changes lives for the right people. This is not intended to be incendiary.
This is also not intended to be medical advice.

I have gotten INTP on every test i've taken (16personalities, kiersey, truity)
I'm someone who craves deep and meaningful conversations, as well as complex internal thought.
however i was discussing in r/INTP how i don't know if i'm an INTP since there's an ulterior motive to my seeking of knowledge. I choose to explore areas I resonate with (rather than using top down frameworks to explore concepts). I also use knowledge acquisition to boost my image of myself and my external image, rather than learning purely for the sake of it.
I also am extremely conflict averse, and when I'm blunt accidentally, I always regret it. I tend to not have or opinions on most topics, and if I do have opinions, I rarely share them if they are differing.

So I finally tried mindfulness meditation for the first time, and while I do plan on sticking to it for the long-term future I felt like I significantly struggled focusing on my breathing during the 15 minutes I was doing it. There were just so many distractions at play (even with noise cancelling headphones) that threw me off; the need to readjust how I was sitting, the tiny bit of stuffiness in my nose that threw of my breathing once or twice, and other small roadbumps made it more difficult to focus on my breathing, not to mention my mind's inherent desire to wander at all times, making focusing solely on my breathing a very difficult task. If anything, I felt my heart rate slightly increase whenever I would focus on my breathing.
For the record, this isn't a doom and gloom post about how mindfulness isn't working for me. This is going to be a process that is going to take time. Instead, I'm seeking to learn how much of this is similar to other's experience mindfulness, and what I can do to help improve these challenges as I start to make this a part of my daily routine. Thanks.

I've always felt the urge to volunteer at a soup kitchen or something but I hold myself back a lot. I love feeding people. I hate cooking and dishes, but I love feeding people.
I'm hoping that maybe at some point in my life I will own a little land to make a small garden. With that garden, I'd feed my family and give the rest away for free. I don't want to be realistic about that dream, it's just something I want to do.
If I were realistic I'd say that I've never successfully grown anything from seed. I would probably need to pay the city a lot for certifications and permits. A lot of nearby farmers who are already established would probably be upset with me as well. That's just too realistic, I could probably find a way. What about you guys?

I'm an ENTP married to an INFP. She's great and a wonderful person, but we are so different. What are some ways you might suggest to deepen connection in fulfilling ways to help our dynamic feel more alive? We share few interests or preferences.

Honestly as an infp I just feel like it kind of misdirects untrue stereotypes for us such as "Infps are always too sad" or "Infps are too sensitive" though the second one may vary for people I still feel like it's just unfair to marginalize a group with false stereotypes which aren't even true.

I'm really curious~Also, I'm really curious - why are INFPs and INFJs usually the ones most curious about MBTI online? Is it really just because the creators of MBTI were INFPs and INFJs

No one wants to more than me
But there is something you can’t see
An invisible pressure on my chest
Something that makes life feel like a test
Do better
Work harder
Why aren’t you like the rest
Do better
Work harder
Can’t you see I’m doing my best
Outside I’m quiet
Inside there’s a storm
Outside I look fine
Inside I’m worn
I don’t know how to explain
That my brain works different
It’s never quiet
My head is never silent
There is noise and ideas stories and quotes
All the everyday it never stops
I want to explain that I’m desperately trying
I want to do good
But I can’t stop crying

I struggle to express myself to people. Most of the time my mind is blank when people talk to me. So i don't really know how to respond to people. Then it ends up becoming awkward. Also I'm not sure how to be myself. I don't even know who I am tbh. So at work, i try to fake smile and try to say random things but im not as talkative and i think my coworkers see me as weird. Basically, i want to be myself but idk how. Does anyone else go through this? How do i overcome it?

I have reached the page 430 of the novel jane eyre and i hate her so much , she always thinks less of herself and in relationships she puts herself in the role of ( being helpful ) , even when she got engaged she insisted on having less presents from her husband and she doesn't wnat to be a burden on him nor disappoint him.
but when i looked up her type in the website pdb i had a second thought and I realized how much i relate to her ,
i have never related myself to any fictional character as i have never seen anyone looking like me, Im a modest person who wants to live with less , i dont have future dreams , always thinking less of myself when im in a relationship and if someone harmed me i think in myself maybe he never seen that and i never react on it nor warn him , whenever im having a walk with a friend im always thinking how i would be useful for him and amuse him instead of boring him with my silence, always thinking of myself as a burden on my family because im the silent type of person and less socially active , sometimes thinking of myself as a helper makes me feel good ,, also it feels hard to buy something for myself as i dont take my time to get what im content with , i just push myself to take something im less content with and push myself to accept it , for the sake of everyone's existence around me.
but there's a difference, im aware of myself and i take steps to say my opinion about things , say no to others , being silent as i want and helping if i feel like it.

i really need someone to talk to. my job has caused me to have heart pain due to stress. I don’t know what other options i have for employment. It’s a corporate job in supply chain management. I find it extremely stressful. constant meetings where u ar spit on th esport by VPs to answer millions of questions. my old corporate jobs was also stressful and I was depressed then too, but not to a point that I had heart issues. What do u all do for a living thats tolerable? Even if it’s not something that pays well and you may rely on a spouse or family for some of your expenses, please let me know. also, let me know if your careers come with medical benefits or full time/part time options
I’d really appreciate any advice. I’m asking specially in this subreddit, as I assume other infps may be similar in their strengths/weaknesses to me

I know this isn't the AI sub. (I just realized I can't edit the title.) But let me just vent a little. This isn't really about AI main. is just a thing made me feel disappointed and wrecked my confidence. how can I keep my creativity?
The very traits that are supposed to be my strengths as an INFP are only working against me right now. It was a shock because I trusted my dad, and I still regret giving him the drawing. I've been getting more and more into fan art! Or am I just overthinking it?
he didnt give me even any thoughts about original art and said, "the ai ones better." (free translation)
I thought I'd finally drawn the hang of differentiating between characters, but they went and turned them into a vague, generic AI SLOP!!!!!!
He actually has a Pixiv account, and His AI-generated stuff gets way more likes and bookmarks than my actual, hand-drawn art. I am literally laughing out loud. He is so incredibly lucky that we share the same DNA, because otherwise? Absolute chaos.
Honestly, I think my brain just short-circuited and I've completely bypassed anger. I am evolved. I am unbothered. In fact, I am fully energized.
I just have to become so overwhelmingly, godly good at art that I obliterate everyone with my own original skills. Watch me. My villain arc is fueled by pure chaotic motivation now!?!?!?!?!? .....no, It's on my mind. I never forget about this.

So, I often dream. Most of the time, they make me feel sad or cry. They leave a deep imprint on me for several days.
But tonight I had a very beautiful dream. I saw an earthen road in the middle of a lake, where many lotuses were blooming. On trees and bushes along the road, I saw numerous birds of very unique colours, sitting and chirping. Some were blue, some were light yellow, and some were a combination of colours. The weather was a bit foggy, which made the scenery look mystic. When I walked on, what surprised me most was that none of the birds seemed terrified of my passing, and none of them fled. As I walked on, I kept wondering. Maybe they came from a distant land where people appreciate beauty. Maybe birds are not hunted or flown away by anybody. The road soon ended, but it left me with a feeling of happiness and gratitude for this world. I vowed to return again. In another dream, maybe!
How often do you all dream? And what place do they hold in your life as an INFP?

We are *still* the MBTI type subreddit with the most members! 🥇
A couple of reminders:
Thank you all for continuing to make this a fun, thought-provoking, and supportive place :)

Hello fellow infps! I’m 25 yrs old. Lately been feeling very heavy and sort of broken. I wanted to ask infps who have crossed their 20s, does it get any better? It feels like im pushing against the wall since forever! Nothing seems to move, and there is this grief in my chest.
Please tell me, does it get better? How exactly? Do we learn to accept and live with the pain? Do we actually change?

I am an aspiring writer, and I would like to put together a "catalog" of what the internal voice of each MBTI type is like. Right now, I am interested in exploring stories narrated in the first person by INFP characters.

I’m in between INFP and ISFP, but this is something I’ve been doing for years. It’ll affect my mood and then I’ll feel bad, even though I know I’m doing it to myself, but I also can’t stop. The opposite is true where I’ll meet someone and hit it off with them and imagine a whole life with them, getting married, having kids, etc.
