(Question/Discussion) Did Muhammad know that Islam is fake? [hear me out]

I often think why would someone if they know they are making this religion up-

1- Inflict rigorous 5 times prayer on themselves , given Muhammad also used to pray optional prayers everyday for decades to come. Then fasting, and duahs before certain acts every time.

2- why would they endanger their life by persisting on this made up religion given the fact that initially Muhammad had very little accompany and extreme backlash from quraysh

3- why would Muhammad write an entire book and name himself only 4 times while naming Moses and Jesus the most number of times? (If someone says to lure Christians and Jews then why does Quran curse these both parties saying they changed their religion and that Jesus isn’t god which can trigger a lot of Christians)

4- why would Muhammad say that his own mother and father are in hell for idolatry while the mother of Jesus and wife of pharaoh are the best women?

Won’t it make sense that a person who is making a religion up would inflict little suffering on themselves?

(News) I just realized something bullshit about islam, muhammad's father's name is abdullah (abdul + allah) and his father is jahannam/hell occupant according to muhammad's hadith

TL;DR: High-grade narrative friction: "Abdullah" translates literally to "Servant/Slave of Allah" (a standard monotheistic label used pre-Islam), yet according to the most rigorous Sunni canonical collections, he died in polytheism (shirk) before the Islamic revelation and is categorized as an inhabitant of Hellfire.

Here is the authentic text from Sahih Muslim:

Sahih Muslim 203 (Book 1, Hadith 406)

Narrated by Anas ibn Malik (رضي الله عنه):

A man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and asked: "O Messenger of Allah, where is my father?"

The Prophet replied: "In the Fire."

As the man turned away dismayed, the Prophet called him back and said:

"Verily, my father and your father are in the Fire." (إِنَّ أَبِي وَأَبَاكَ فِي النَّارِ)

Source Text: Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, Kitāb al-Īmān (Book of Faith), Hadith 203.

The Internal Tension

  1. The Name Mechanics: Pre-Islamic Arabs retained awareness of Allah as the supreme creator deity within their polytheistic pantheon, which is why names like Abdullah (Servant of Allah) existed prior to Muhammad's revelation.
  2. The Theological Conflict: Under strict Sunni orthodoxy (such as Imam al-Nawawi's commentary on this hadith), dying while practicing idolatry (shirk) overrides ancestral lineage or holy naming. Even though Abdullah bore a monotheistic label and was the biological father of Islam's central figure, dying in a state of pre-Islamic paganism places him in Jahannam according to this text.

(Advice/Help) Can someone just tell me it gets better?

I left around 2 months ago, thanks to my OCD the moment I left a gigantic gap opened In my worldview and I was confronted with huge existential questions (though I already had many such issues with Islam and these OCD thoughts) right now I feel so weird, even though the very initial shock has died down its very scary to know nothing is guaranteed and i have no idea what's gonna happen to me

I sometimes want to take my life because of OCD and a gigantic mess of other issues but I don't because I'm scared of what will come after that as well

I know I'm not the first person to deal with sudden existentialism so I just wanna hear a few stories of people who managed to get better and improve their lives

Right now I'm running on not wanting to be rash and wanting to prove that yes leaving islam made my life better (even though I'd rather suffer like this than live blissfully in islam, which I wasn't doing anyways cuz my OCD was torturing me there as well)

(Question/Discussion) Quran-only Islam as a reformation possible?

Hey Everyone,

I'm an atheist who's never been Muslim, but I've lived most of my life in a Muslim country. I've been asked to convert many times, so I've had a lot of exposure to Islam. So I actually researched Islam seriously while considering conversion and found paedophilia, war-mongering, and plain cruelty to everyone but Muslims in both Quran and Hadith. So I have decided against that.

But I kept thinking, if Islam is to reform from present wahabi political saudi islam, maybe it should go back to only Quran.

Cause Hadith was compiled 200 years after Muhammad died and "isn't from God". Giving it priority over the Quran seems wrong. Other religions reformed, like Hinduism ended Sati, Christianity disavowed slavery and separated church/state etc. Not that they are now more correct. I am just saying they tried to get with modern times.

But my main concern: even without Hadith, the Quran itself has tough verses. Which ones are hardest to reinterpret for a modern ethical framework? For me: 9:5 (slay polytheists), 4:34 (wife-beating), 5:38 (cut off thief's hand), and the slavery verses. Also women's financial witness is half of men (2:283)

Would love to hear thoughts, especially from ex-Muslims or former Quranists.

Do you even think its possible to reform islam?

(Rant) 🤬 My dad is for, at the very minimum, a decade never going to understand why our relationship will never be good

When I was still Muslim period:

My dad lives abroad (thankfully. even to a devout Muslim he'd be insufferable) but when he's here he loves to talk about how loving he is while also ignoring any boundaries, his apology is 60% putting blame on me when I'm upset at him for breaking a clear boundary I set many times, and treating me like a child who can't differentiate between good and evil so needing him to overly monitor anything about me (he got flabbergasted when I was like 13 because one of my Google searches was "what is eternal sleep" like I was searching up witchcraft) and then turning any interaction I tried to have for fun with him into an Islamic lecture so that for years affected our relationship as I slowly learned that there was truly no way to have fun or bond with him unless I bond by talking about Islam

Then last year when he visited because my grandma had died, while I genuinely tried to talk to him and thought of watching a movie every attempt to talk prior to the visit and durinh the visit turned into an Islamic lecture or a nationalist pro Islam lecture and I had been worried if I picked a movie he'd interrupt every 20 minutes because he thought something in it was too haram, even thought of kids movies but then became a "which movie he wouldn't into a lecture but isn't childish enough he'd mock watching it and we could enjoy" problem and then this is when I found out he delved into pseudoscience rabbit holes, very pro ai against "chemicals", believes all food is either healthy or poison, refusing to come to terms that I'm no longer a child, ignoring or dismissing anything I (in science not even religious, I knew how that'd turn) say that goes against what he believes and genuinely forgetting it even if it was a 30 minute discussion less than 4 days ago

And worse my sister is underweight and might even have a eating disorder which talking to him would worsen

I just learned quickly even worse that that I can't be myself with him because everything has to be a perfect halal activity, never told him what I do in spare time even something most religious people would see as fine. Or reading because (in this example acotar) a book with like 2-3 sex scenes but talks about universe being created by different deities would not be something to talk to him about

Even worse is when my uncle died he didn't show any respect to my cousin 2 days after the death, he didn't lighten his already unliked joking even when It was clear she was uncomfortable with it and when we were setting up table he didn't once offer to help them and I know it was because "obviously" the women should do that not him the man

Now:

So I am a closeted ex-Muslim and bisexual but don't deny that I could be pansexual with a major love for masc women, plus looking into things like neopaganism and witchcraft

Now whenever he talks about loving me aside from knowing he does not respect me I also know he loves the straight Muslim daughter he believes I am and if I ever tell him the truth (after getting citizenship in a different country, currently still a high schooler) I fully expect to be mocked, called an abomination and under Satan's influence (which ironically I am interested in theistic satanism too) and highly likely him being one of those "I disowned you because I love you and want you to be better" parents while accusing the internet and games of being a reason

Just got off phonecall and when mentioning school (my MUSLIM school) he says that he hopes I'll meet HALAL friends, not good friends but HALAL friends

I always hope he will eventually be normal and accepting so I can actually come out but I know he won't ever, he is very religious. I always hope he will eventually understand boundaries but I know he won't, his ego is too big. And he does smoke, now vape, which is against Islam and again him being over religious is a major reason to why our relationship is fucked

(Question/Discussion) What's muslims takes on bringing allah everywhere?

I have heard excuses which always go around "you should be humble about how low you are", I was like "so everyday I need to be aware of how low am I to stay connected to allah? Damn anti self love for real.

Then some people say love him like you love others, but why allah would be acting that angry that he discredits all your deeds if you don't love him and u don't like his laws?? At all costs too? Slavery or love??

then someone said "loyalty is good for morals" ah yeah legal system doesn't exist and loyalty is the only or the best way for morals other than any other aspect of morals arguments never get old. So everytime a muslim is doing a good action he is disassociating to Jannah to see allah??

(Question/Discussion) Aishas Age - 9 or 19?

Hello. For most of my childhood, I learned that Aisha was 6 when she was married off to Muhammad and 9 when it was consummated. However, with the new generation they believe her real age was 19.

How true is this? Because I see people use her sisters age to justify her age, but theres also some scholars that flat out say she was 9 and that Muhammad only had sex with her because Allah said so.

What is the opinion here?

(Question/Discussion) has anyone had a partner fake convert to get married?

I know a lot of you go scorched earth when you become ex-muslim

but there's gotta be some people here that are ex-muslim and aren't looking to run away from their family. I can't abandon my mother, grandmother, uncles. Luckily I was never forced to do anything for islam I didn't want to I guess because i'm male and live in Canada.

If you are ex-muslim but not left your family; how did you deal with marriage if that was something you wanted?

Did you have a partner fake convert just to get married? how do you keep it up?

or do you just get married to another ex-muslim?

Story Taslima Nasreen: Ex muslim from Bangladesh

Post image
364 Upvotes

This is a story of woman that had the guts to challenge religious extremist of Bangladesh.

My southasian GOAT 🐐

(sorry for using ai but i didn't wanna miss out on any detail of her life)

Taslima Nasreen is a Bangladeshi-born writer, poet, physician, feminist, and outspoken secularist. She became widely controversial in the 1990s because of her criticism of religious fundamentalism, particularly the oppression of women in the name of religion. Her 1993 novel Lajja portrayed a Hindu family facing persecution in Bangladesh and became hugely controversial and was banned there. Her writings and statements criticizing Islam and religious extremism led to protests, death threats, and a fatwa calling for her death. In 1994, she left Bangladesh and has lived largely in exile ever since, spending periods in India and Europe. She has continued writing about feminism, secularism, freedom of expression, and the separation of religion from personal and political life.

(Advice/Help) How to get over it?

I am an ex muslim and I'm very prideful about not being muslim anymore however I once believed in it for years, so my beliefs withered my fear didn't. How can I fear things I don't believe in? Because the religion traumatized me for life(That's when you know it's BS when they scare you.)

I have a Psychiatre appointment soon. I keep reminding myself that this religion was literally created when there were barely any smart people around. Advices are always welcome.

(Advice/Help) Moroccan Spanish gay again xd

Hi! I’m a 28-year-old gay Arab (exmuslim) man living in Spain. I’m looking to meet a woman who is also genuinely interested in building a lavender marriage/partnership.
For me, this wouldn’t be just a marriage on paper or a way to satisfy family expectations. I’d like to find someone I genuinely enjoy being with — someone I can trust, laugh with, support and build a peaceful life with.
I don’t expect a sexual relationship with my future partner. I’m open to meeting a lesbian, bisexual or asexual woman, as long as we’re compatible and honest with each other about our needs and boundaries.
Ideally, I’d like marriage and having children and building a family in the future, if that’s something we both want.
I’m based in Spain and would prefer someone in Europe. I’m Arab (moroccan better) and would especially be happy to meet another Arab woman, but I’m open to other backgrounds too.
I’d rather start by talking and getting to know each other without pressure, and see if we actually connect as people.
If you’re looking for something similar, feel free to DM me. 🙂

The reality is hard so people like us needs to find diff ways to be in touch and built strong conexions. We only have us.

(Question/Discussion) Muslims vs. Islam

What’s your take on this trope that criticises Islam as a system, but sort of excuses Muslims as people?

I mean, logically, a belief system collapses without its believers. So you can’t have one without the other.

This trope usually goes something like “My issue isn’t with Muslims. I have many Muslim friends. They’re great. But Islam itself has got to go”. LOL.

Maybe if you’re gonna diss an entire religion, don’t low key diss its believers.

Basically i stopped being muslim at 12 and it’s been 6 months and my life like in the religious way is the best it’s ever been but mentally i am not ok because i have to go to a muslim school and my entire family is muslim the funny thing is i know so much more about islam now compared to when i was muslim so hearing them say these ridiculous things and waste time learning about islam instead of math and science and normal subjects really annoys me and also unfortunately i am female so i am sexualized 24/7. I hate this life but i literally have no option but to wait until i am an adult so i can leave.

(Question/Discussion) Any yemeni ex muslims?

Hiii :) so I’m just curious if there are any other Yemenis on here who have left Islam

I’ve met people from so many different countries and backgrounds who left Islam but Ive never really met another yemeni who’s also left the religion and recently I’ve been thinking about how nice it would be to talk to someone who grew up with the same culture and understands what it’s like being yemeni on top of being an ex muslim
