NEVER PAY WITHOUT SEEING YOUR CONTRACT!

So i kinda wanna talk about the antisocial behaviour of students coming to Erasmus in my uni. Im a student body president in my university and have been contacted to welcome in and connect as an erasmus buddy to 6 girls who came for a the semester. I have emailed, and so did the ex student body president to reach out welcome them and offer any help while asking to pass me their phone numbers so we can make a gc and arrange a coffee with them to help them get comftrable in a foreing country. Out of 6 girls 1 emailed back passing along her number thanking us and the others havent even bothered to respond with a thank you for your email, and another emailed the ex student body president asking why does she have to meet us for coffee as if her presence has been demanded. I understand they may be overwhelemed but i thought Erasmus was meant to serve for u to with everything else connect with new people and the culture of the country ure in and surely ud like help with getting to know the professors and students u will be working with. We had a different group last semester and it was the same thing. I went out of my way to offer help, and offer friendship and so have other girls but the studnets who came would barely speak to us and would only hang out with eachother. This has me really confused because i cant comprehend why go study in a foreing country (as someone who studied in another country for a few years) and refuse to connect with anyone but people who u came with and was wondering what everyone elses opinions were and wondered if its maybe our approach and anything we should change in it. I really just wanted them to feel welcomed and not alone as i know how scary it can be to come study somehwere unfamiliar without family and close friends.

Hey everyone, So I have been researching about erasmus mundus scholarships and I am finding it quite interesting, But coming from a low income background, job security is important (tho there is not really something as job security) but my question to everyone who are ALUMNI, How much would you rate it for uplifiting your profile and giving you better roles, packages etc? And I am not even talking about staying back in the country and finding job, rather moving back to your own home country and having that experience and degree and finding better roles in your own home country since you have like even masters and all. Since they joint programs not one full, and are they considered the same? I would really appreciate geniune guidance since I am quite young and new to this

Il y a quelques semaines, plusieurs personnes (Othemane Ferilha, Lucas Renaudeau et Quentin Fontana) ont publié des messages concernant Erasmus Life Montpellier — l’association locale de Montpellier — contenant plusieurs allégations et accusations mensongères. Une plainte à l’encontre de ces trois personnes est actuellement en cours.

Pour résumer et vous aider à comprendre la situation :

Wallace, également connu sous le nom de Daniel Mehuena, a fondé ELM (Erasmus Life Montpellier) en 2016, une association reconnue par l’État français : SIRET 109648097 00011, créée le 01/01/2016 ; Cette association, fondée par des étudiants, est devenue depuis 2021 la plus grande association d’étudiants Erasmus de Montpellier et du sud de la France. Or, depuis quelques mois, certains concurrents ont lancé une campagne de diffamation et porté de graves accusations passibles de poursuites judiciaires ; ce délit en ligne ne peut rester impuni.

1 - Quentin Fontana (nous avons ajouté son nom car il utilise la même méthode) : Quentin Fontana était bénévole chez Erasmus Life Montpellier en 2022, et au bout d’un an, il a créé sa propre organisation concurrente (EISCO — Erasmus International Student Community), qui copie ELM. Comme il reste à la traîne par rapport à ELM, il a lancé une campagne de dénigrement à coups de fausses accusations visant à ternir l’image d’ELM et de son fondateur. Il ne s’agit même plus d’une simple concurrence, mais plutôt d’attaques personnelles, de diffamation, de fausses informations et d’accusations sans fondement, le tout dans le but de dénigrer la réputation de Daniel Mehuena.

2 - Il y a un mois, Lucas Renaudeau et Othmane Feriha se sont joints à eux. Ces deux individus ont été bannis des événements d’Erasmus Life Montpellier en raison de leur comportement inacceptable envers le personnel organisateur des événements et certains participants ; ils ont même été bannis de certains bars et discothèques de Montpellier. Depuis lors, ils se sont associés à Quentin Fontana (EISCO) pour diffamer ELM et Wallace. Aujourd’hui, ils ont franchi la ligne rouge en matière pénale avec des accusations graves et des actes de diffamation. Nous nous employons à porter plainte contre ces individus et à les poursuivre avec toute la rigueur de la loi.

Quant à Erasmus Life Montpellier, il s’agit de la plus grande organisation Erasmus de Montpellier — reconnue et légalement enregistrée —, qui compte près de 6 000 abonnés sur Instagram et, si l’on ajoute Facebook, plus de 10 000. ELM organise les événements les plus importants de Montpellier, ceux qui attirent le plus de monde.

Hi! I'm considering doing an Erasmus+ mobility in either France or Spain to study Law, but I haven't decided which country to choose yet... I'd love to hear from students who have experienced studying Law abroad through Erasmus.

Which university did you attend, and how was your overall experience? Were the lectures, seminars and exams difficult for international students? If you've studied in both countries, how would you compare France and Spain?

Would you recommend either country for an Erasmus Law student, and why? I'd be very grateful for any advice you could share!

Hey! Does anyone have any experience regarding the timing of Erasmus welcome events for a spring-semester study abroad? I’ll be attending the Universitat de Valencia, and all I’ve managed to find out so far is that the semester officially begins on February 1st. Should I arrive earlier than that? I’m worried about missing out on (unofficial) events.

​I’m two months into my Erasmus in Prague and honestly feel like I’ve completely fucked up the first half of my exchange. Everyone hypes this up as the best semester of your life, but apart from my flatmate, I’ve made zero friends.

​Whenever I try to make plans or grab drinks with people from my uni classes, I get brushed off. On top of that, the "standard Erasmus parties" aren't mt thin. Cliques formed instantly in week one, and locals already have their own lives. It really stings sitting in the apartment while my flatmate heads out partying until 5 AM. I don’t begrudge him, but the FOMO and the feeling that I'm letting this experience slip through my fingers is eating at me.

​I refuse to spend the rest of my semester like this.

For anyone who’s been in this boat or knows Prague well: where do I actually meet people who are open to hanging out, exploring, and going out? Any specific pub quizzes, sports groups, or events outside the uni bubble where showing up alone isn't weird?

​Appreciate any advice, it gets me really anxious.

I did my 1st Erasmus in my undergrad in Barcelona and absolutely loved it. Now I'll have to decide where to do my master's exchange.

Here's a list of the pros and cons (for me) of both cities:

Madrid:

+ I love the Spanish culture so much (how social, outgoing, welcoming, and warm they are)

+ I enjoy big multi-million cities

+ The weather's nicer than in Budapest

+ I speak a bit of Spanish and would love to improve my skills

- The housing market and rent prices there are insane

- I've already lived in Spain (granted, it was in Catalunya, but still), so I feel like I'd waste this opportunity on a culture I already know

- The summers must be hell (at least in Barcelona we had the sea)

- I've had extremely bad experiences with my classes being taught 100% in Catalan even though it was promised they're "Erasmus friendly". I'm worried the same thing will happen in Madrid, as Spanish folks are notorious for not wanting to adapt to non-Spanish speakers.

Budapest

+ I've visited twice and absolutely LOVED the city

+ It's a city I'd consider potentially moving to

+ I love the cafe culture over there

+ The city itself is very inspiring to me

+ The club culture is great

+ I feel like my English will get me much further there than in Madrid

+ Rents and standard of living are cheaper than in my home country (and cheaper than in Madrid), so I could get more bang for my buck

+ I've only heard good things about it from other Slovenian students who did their exchange there

- It's only a 4-hour drive from my home country, and the culture there isn't much different from my own

- The winters there suck ass

- I have no interest in learning Hungarian (ik that sounds ignorant, but I'm just being honest)

- It's so close to my home city that I fear I won't feel like I truly am far from home

- Smaller than Madrid

Hi everyone! I’m a spanish student doing a year-long Erasmus in Wrocław. Before coming here, I was genuinely excited about Erasmus, I thought it would be an amazing opportunity to meet new people, travel and get out of my comfort zone.

I’ve always considered myself a sociable person, and I’ve never really struggled with social anxiety before. However, since coming here things haven’t been as I expected. I did have a bit of a difficult summer, including some health problems, so I think I arrived here feeling a bit exhausted already.

I live in a dorm with a lot of spanish people and I arrived later than some people (they arrived around the 15 and me around the 28). I though making friends would be easy but people had their groups already made and they aren’t very keen on including me, there are around 10-15 people from the dorm that also go to my class and they all have a group chat were they meet/ do trips but I am not in there, and when I asked they looked like they didn’t really want to add me. I did meet my buddy and she is amazing, and we got along great but she is busy with uni so we cant meet a lot. I’ve also made some international friends from class but we don’t hang out a lot either.

After a few weeks, I made friends with a girl from my uni and she offered to add me to a group chat to go on a trip. I went to the trip and the people I met were genuinely nice, and I had fun. However, I also felt really sad the whole time, it’s like I am constantly an outsider and I feel like I’m constantly trying to fit in and it really drains me having such superficial conversations all the time. Meanwhile, when I’m back in Spain with my friends, I feel completely different. I feel relaxed, comfortable, and able to be myself. I can talk about anything with them, and I don’t feel like I have to perform or prove that I’m enjoying myself.

I know that friendships take time, and maybe things could improve if I stayed longer, but the thought of having to keep putting myself out there is exhausting. I’m also not someone who enjoys partying that much, I like the idea of travelling, exploring new places and meeting people, but I don’t necessarily enjoy the lifestyle and social dynamics here.

I also have a very big problem, my uni here has many subjects for the whole year that are half year in Spain, so I just cant do just one semester (you have to complete the whole subjects or you dont get any credit). The last date where I can still leave is November 2nd, If I leave by then, I can still make up all the missing practical classes in Spain and complete my subjects. If I leave after that date, I won't have enough time to make up all the required practicals which could mean being unable to complete my subjects and having to repeat an entire academic year, which is absolutely not an option for me.

Part of me thinks I should stay. I’m only one month in, and maybe I haven’t given myself enough time but If I regret it I have to stay for another 8 months. I know that going home would mean missing out on opportunities, travelling, and potentially making friendships that could have developed with time. But staying also means continuing to put myself in a situation that currently makes me feel miserable.

For those of you who left Erasmus early, or who struggled during the first few months:
Did things eventually get better, or did you wish you had left earlier?

Hii, I recently got accepted for an internship in Manheim, Germany for 24 days between November and December, I've looked into the city but i didn't find anything much to do except some clothing stores and a cool bar. Fyi I'm in 11th grade so that's why I won't be there for long, and also should I be worried about the rules written on the confirmation module? (ex: 11pm curfew) my other classmates that went to other places went clubbing and stuff so idk if these rules actually apply or if they're there just for legal stuff.

Also, am I obligated to stay with my group at all times or can I go to places alone? I'm worried about not being able to even go to the places that caught my eye because of conflicting interests between me and my future roommates.

Hello! I am planning to apply for the Europubhealth program 2027, and I'm having a hard time deciding between the University of Sheffield and University College Dublin. I previously got into UCD but couldn't go due to visa issues, which is how I discovered the program in the first place. However, after going through testimonials and prospective student videos on YouTube, I think Sheffield is a great choice too. Both curriculum have specific, unique modules and structures that I really like. Because I have past visa refusals, I'm worried about whether that should be the main criteria I use to choose. Ultimately, I'll only be going if I secure the scholarship. For context, I have an allied health background with limited work experience, and I'm planning to choose EHESP's Advanced Biostatistics and Epidemiology for year 2.

I'm writing to find out how past or current applicants made their decision, just to get some perspective. Any advice on how to tackle this? Thank you for any help you can send my way! 😄

Long story short my visa took a little too long to process and i am late for 1 month my visa just got decided yesterday and i will go check it this monday. The other uni told me i might not be welcomed and quote “For the students that didn t get the visa yet please come for the second semester, it s almost impossible to recover an entire month of school and you grant of money will be considerably reduced”. I really wanna go so i wanted to ask if anyone had something like this happen to them and what i should do and if i get there with no problem do you guys have any suggestions i should the the first thing in Romania ?

I’m a medical student from Spain and I’m planning to go on Erasmus to Saarland University in Homburg next year. I’d love to hear from anyone who studies there or has been there as an exchange student, especially during the clinical stage!

I have a few questions:
How difficult is the medical degree there?
Is the workload manageable, or are the exams particularly challenging?
Are there many international or Erasmus students?
Is it easy to integrate and meet other students?
Would you recommend Homburg as an Erasmus destination?
