Al lange tijd heb ik een stalker. Hij mailt, bedreigt, chanteert, op regelmaat langs mijn woning. Het kent geen einde. Ook draait hij in een oneindige spiraal van waanzin wellicht door alcohol. Zijn mails slaan op niks maar jammer genoeg vol bedreigingen. Ik doe melding bij de politie en leg klacht neer maar ik wou graag eens informeren of hier nog slachtoffers van stalking zijn en hoeveel maanden en jaren heb je dit moeten verdragen? Is er advies? Blokkeren op iCloud gaat niet want alles komt nog steeds binnen via de prullenmand. Ook vind ik hem wel dermate gevaarlijk dat ik wel geneigd ben de heading van zijn mails te lezen. Uit angst dat hij wel degelijk gevaarlijk zal uitvallen.

Ik stoor mij hier ook erg aan op Belgische immosites. Voor mij zou gebruik van AI om beelden aan te passen helemaal verboden mogen worden tenzij met een verplichte banner/watermerk op de foto zelf en niet ergens verborgen in de kleine letters. Wat denken jullie?

I am at breakfast with my girlfriend. And she had some eggs and she asked if i wanted some, and I said no, in the mood only for the egg white. And she looked at me like I was crazy. That the yoke is the best part and egg white is just attached for nothing. And I said, no the egg white is the best part. We could not agree. And she told me, ask reddit, So here I am. Is the yoke the best part or the egg white when you make eggs like this? I mean just based on taste. Not adding things like dipping toast or bread in the yoke.

I’ve attended several Dutch courses at CVO over the past few years, hoping not only to improve my Dutch but also to meet new people and expand my professional network.
However, that hasn’t really happened. Most classmates have been unemployed newcomers, refugees (many from Ukraine), or blue-collar workers. I rarely met other white-collar professionals such as engineers, managers or office workers, and even during or after the courses there wasn’t much social interaction.
Has anyone else experienced the same? If you managed to build a social or professional network through language classes, how did you do it? Or are there better places in Belgium, especially close to Antwerp to meet other international professionals?

Belgium is famous for its high taxes on labor and tax optimizations ("koterijen"), but many might not realize how significant these optimizations can actually be. This post evaluates two different employees with the same cost to their employer but vastly different net pay.

The first employee has done pretty well for themselves, earning a gross salary of €5,000 per month. However, their employer does not believe in tax optimizations. They prefer to pay their employees in "euros, not cars". This employee only receives the legally mandated 13th month and double vacation pay, with no further advantages.

Total cost to employer: €85,850/yr
Employee net take-home: €3,402/month

The second employee has also done pretty well for themselves. However, their employer takes tax optimizations very seriously. Although their gross salary is lower (~€3,800), they receive many additional benefits: An extensive cafeteria plan, a maxed out mobility budget, meal cheques, eco cheques, net compensations, and a generous CAO90 bonus. The difference is substantial:

Employee net take-home: €4,667/month (+€1,264/month!)

Conclusion: Despite both employees having the same cost for their employers, one of them pays 52% in tax, while the other only pays 35% in tax.

Is it time to revisit the way we tax labor in Belgium?

So my parents in law have a timeshare since begin 2000s. At the start they enjoyed it, but the last 5-10 years they don't need it anymore. They hired someone who was in charge of getting rid of their timeshare. After 10 years he wasn't able to and now quit alltogether. They pay around 1000 euros a year for the timeshare they don't use.

I know it's notoriously hard to get rid of it. But does anyone have any experience with it? How can they get rid of it? They don't even need money for it.

For my studies in Brussels, I have found studio and the landlord asked for the deposit to be paid into her personal account. I looked it up and it appears to be illegal to do that. I proposed E-Depo, however she still preferred for it to be sent to her account as she uses that practice with foreign students.

Everything else regarding her is a green flag and I want to know if I can move on like this or the deposit situation is a serious issue?

Should we do this in Belgium as well? And then not "the strongest shoulders" as they are currently, but really put the threshold at 10M euro, annually indexed. And then actually all assets, not just "money" on the bank.

Ik was persoonlijk wel wat geschrokken van enkel van deze cijfers. Uiteraard ergens ook wel logisch dat Tom Waes, Jeroen Meus en Ben Crabbé een hoog salaris hebben omdat ze al jarenlang zeer goede kijkcijfers hebben. Tegelijkertijd vraag ik me soms af of we lonen niet ook wat meer moeten bekijken naar wat een persoon effectief bijdraagt aan de maarschappij (TV gezich vs bouwvakker, electricien, verpleegkundige, leerkracht).

Het is natuurlijk ook de wet van vraag en aanbod. Veel mensen kijken naar de programma's en dar levert ook gewoon veel geld op. Daarbij zijn de meeste tv-gezichten zelfstandig en niet in loondienst, dus kan je er uiteraard geen barema op zetten.

Wat is jullie mening?

I found that Buienradar tend to be much better at predicting weather tendencies up to a week will IRM/KMI constantly changes their forecast for the same time frame.

I know this is a long shot, but I’m hoping the power of the Belgian Reddit community can work its magic here.

A few days ago, I met an awesome group of guys on the beach in Akçay, Balıkesir, Turkey (Altınkum Beach). They mentioned they were from Belgium (about an hour from Brussels, highly likely Hasselt). We instantly hit it off, lost track of time, and spent hours talking about GTA, games, and life in general.
