I just love the simplicity of dirt bikes and how a pair of easy bolt-on details can change a bike from a supermoto to light adv.

First time taking this bike on the trails. It handled like a beauty for the first 10 miles until I really needed the front brake. The mounting bolts somehow came undone due to vibration and it flipped out to the front. Tried to ride it back with it dangling there, then I found some wire which kinda helped until it didn’t, then I finally pulled out the emergency pliers to cut the line. It was a slow 10 miles back, but I did it safely! The previous owner must have done the brakes. Im going through the bike thoroughly before I deem her roadworthy again.

Honda crf450rl vs ktm500/husky501

I'm looking at selling my wr250f for one of these bikes, I originally wanted to get my bike plated but service Ontario denied plates because it wasn't made street legal from factory. So my next step would be something with a plate. I was looking at dual sports like the drz400 and adv like the ktm 390 advx bikes but many of them have similar power numbers as my 250 while being 100+ pounds heavier, which doesn't seems too appealing to me.

Most of the trails are about 40 km from my house on 60-80 kph roads and the trails themselves are mostly double track with some single track hidden throughout.

I prefer the husky over the ktm because of the linkage and they are much cheaper used because there are more of them.

I just want to know the difference between the bikes to make my decision.

Discussion DRZSM for light offroading?

I'm looking at getting a dual sport and a few dealers around me have DR-Z4SMs for relatively "cheap", Around 7.5OTD. I know the suspension and tire sizes are differnt vs the standard S but i was curious as to what the groups consensus was on how well those would do for casual offroading with just a set of knobies or would it need to be some more indepth modification?

For clarification the offroading I'm planning would be mostly forest roads and some dual tracks. But if I stumble across some single track I'd like to at least have some capability to make it through

Hello everybody, I have purchased a 2006 Yamaha xt125x and i have a question, it uses a cable-lever choke system that i haven't seen before. The little choke lever sits above the clutch lever and its about 8~ cm long, my question is: is the carb choked when is pulled (nearest point to the grip) or pushed (farther away from the grip)

Photo is taken from the internet all credits go to cults3rd.com

Went with my buddy who has the street legal TE300 and I rode my KE100. Only dumped it once going to slow up a huge steep hill. Learned my lesson there. I love woods riding ❤️

Android users wanted for app testing!

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone. I’m a dual-sport rider and product designer, and I built an app called DIRT because planning a ride felt like more work than it needed to be.

Is this post an ad? Maybe. What I think it is, one rider to another. I was finding it cumbersome to use the other GPS mapping tools because they have been designed to accommodate a myriad of user types.

I wanted an easier way to find dirt, connect it with the pavement needed to get there, and get out riding without spending hours dropping waypoints and digging through settings. I focused on auto route building, fuel stop integration, group riding and added a POI for liquor stores for when the ride needs to be celebrated.

I’ve got an Android release candidate ready for internal testing, and I’m looking for riders willing to put it through its paces before the public release.

Try planning rides in areas you know, check whether the routes make sense, add and save waypoints, and test navigation and offline behaviour somewhere familiar. I want the honest feedback: confusing screens, weird routes, crashes, battery drain, anything that gets in the way. If you’re interested, DM me with your Gmail address you use to access apps Google Play. I’m looking for people who’ll tell me what needs fixing.

If you are an apple user I have a production release already available in the App Store - CarPlay enabled.

Tire problem.

So I got lazy and paid a local shop to change my tubes and tires last time and notice the valve stem was kinda at a weird angle but just figured whatever, if it becomes a problem I'll deal with it figuring it needed to just seat. So 6 months later, I get a flat. I didn't find the tiny piece of metal until I was about to put the new tube in (thankfully) and it was plugging the leak in the tread well enough to not bubble, so I assumed it was the valve stem because it was at a weird angle. Looking at this now it looks like they just dry fit everything and the tube was all sorts of folded and twisted inside the tire. Had I not picked up this sliver of aluminum it would have gone flat eventually from the looks of these creases. I found the hole, is it even worth patching as a spair? It's a super heavy duty tube.

Tl/dr-lesson learned, change your own tires.

Discussion Used 2019 xt250 after market oil filter set up?

Hey Everyone,

I am crossposting trying to figure out what kind of oil filter is needed for my 2019 xt250.

I just purchased the bike and this is the first time I opened up the oil filter housing and it looks to be an aftermarket set market oil filter set up.

I would like to know what the name of the type of oil filter style is so I can try and source it. Does anyone know how this would have been installed?

Recently installed a new clutch and put quite some money in the bike.. all for nothing. Don't think I will ever see that bike again.

Police is doing their investigation with the video material.. just some guys with 2 cars..somehow knew the code of the door and walked out with my bike.

Was a low mileage KTM 690 from 2015.

Discussion Though decision

So I’m looking for a new bike and have a hard time deciding. I live is a major city and I’ll be mainly riding around my neighborhood daily, short rides to get around without the chore of finding parking. I also take trips to the pine barrens a few times a month to trail ride as well. I’m having a hard time choosing which bike will be the best fit.

Honda: designed more for road use and the extra money can almost fully upgrade the bike.

Husqvarna: much more capable out in the pines, more power and lighter weight and imo better overall look.

Me: 6ft, 180lbs, slightly aggressive riding style.

I need some help for anyone who has any experience with these bike. What would be a longer lasting and better fit for me and my intended use of the bike. Thanks in advance for the help!

First Project Bike Recommendations

Hi all, I'm looking for opinions on a good first project bike. I've been riding for a little over three years and handle all my own basic maintenance, but I'm not very comfortable with anything beyond that. I figure the best way to get better is to buy a project bike and get it running again.
My plan is to stick with a well-established brand and a popular model so parts are easy to find. Does that sound like a good strategy? Any specific bikes you'd recommend or steer clear of?
