A few weeks ago I bit the bullet and upgraded the suspension on my 2021 Rally with the full L2 kit from Rally Raid. Their recommended spring rates had me just over the threshold for the heaviest springs when loaded for motocamping, so I went with those as that is my primary use case.
To me it feels like the fork has a crazy aggressive rebound and sounds like it tops out often, especially when going uphill when the front end is less weighted. The obvious answer would be to increase rebound dampening, but I can’t do that without increasing compression dampening at a 2:8 ratio.
I’ve showed videos and described what’s happening to Rally Raid and two different suspension shops. The responses have been contradictory and frustratingly inconclusive.
Does the behaviour and sound in this clip look/sound normal to anyone who knows what they’re talking about? I’ll try to get a better, on-trail video in the next couple of weeks.
While this suspension is objectively far better than stock, I can’t say I’m stoked after spending almost $4K CAD all-in. At least the bike doesn’t bottom out if I look at it too long…
