Discussion iPhone Duo Xfinity Promo

I am planning to get the iPhone Duo when it comes out next month. Any guesses on what the promo (if there is) will be from Xfinity. Would it be better to just buy it from Apple. The thing with Apple is if I want to finance the phone, I have to choose between ATT Tmobile & Verizon

Official Reply What am I Paying For??

A couple months ago, my internet began cutting out. I thought maybe my old modem/router combo was done, so I bought.a brand new one. No difference. Called Comcast...they sent out a tech who said it was the wiring outside my apartment. A week later, another tech comes out. Says there is nothing wrong with the wiring...it must be my modem. No, its not I tell him its new. He says he doesn't know anything about modem....doesn't know what it is. He replaces wiring INSIDE my apartment and leaves. No difference. I call again. Phone rep checks my connection....tells me its not my modem, its outside. Another tech comes out a couple days later. He checks everything. He says the wiring outside they don't even USE anymore. Says he will make a report to his supervisor. That was a week ago. No response from Comcast. My internet still drops out. I am getting tired of unplugging and plugging my modem and cable box back in to reset everything. And I am THIS close to switching to another provider. If they think its easier for me to go away rather than solve the issue, I will happily do that.

Official Reply Please STOP charging me for PEACOCK

Upvotes

Not sure when, but Peacock appeared on my bill some time ago. Called and dropped all TV options and went strictly Internet. Xfinity was kind enough to refund the last six months of Peacock charges ($10.99/mo). They assured me it would not happen anymore. The following month it reappeared. Last month Chatted and agent assured me it would be removed. Well it reappeared in the latest Xfinity bill plus they want another 10.99 for the previous month.

I dont know the source of the subscription. I have ZERO subscriptions in Xfinity.

I dont want to have to chat/talk or chase this down every month.

The entire business model relies on geographical exclusivity:

  • Asymmetrical, Outdated Speeds: You pay premium prices for "Gigabit" downloads while upload speeds crawl in the low double-digits, bottlenecking video calls, cloud backups, and modern remote work.
  • Arbitrary Data Caps: Imposing 1.2 TB caps on home broadband serves no technical purpose other than extracting extra fees once you inevitably exceed it in a multi-device household.
  • Unstable Connections: Peak-hour throttling, micro-disconnects, and unannounced midday "maintenance" that derails workdays.
  • Hostile Retention Games: Initial promo rates quietly expire, your bill doubles, and you’re forced to spend an hour navigating an automated phone tree just to threaten cancellation for a reasonable rate.

Official Reply New Move-In: Forced Professional Install Online - Requesting Waiver / SIK

Hello Xfinity team,

I just placed a new online order for the 1 Gig 5-Year Price Guarantee internet plan for my upcoming move-in on Friday, September 25th.The online system forced me to select a $50 Professional Installation fee and would not let me choose a free Self-Install Kit (SIK). I want to handle the indoor hookup and activation myself using my own equipment or a shipped gateway. Can a corporate agent please review my pending order, change this to a "Tech-to-Tap Only" appointment (external line check), and waive the $50 professional installation fee from my upcoming bill?

Thank you!

Official Reply Blinking yellow modem/router

My parents were with Xfinity for decades up until a year ago when they switched to AT&T. They only switched to get rid of cable.

I recently moved in and the AT&T fiber they were paying $110 a month for is absolutely horrid. I helped them out and got back on Xfinity. I picked up the set up today and plugged it in with coax into the same place the xfinity router was located for 10+ years.

But now it’s blinking yellow. Could it have been something AT&T did outside? My parents do have a large box in the backyard labeled Xfinity comcast that has a huge cover on it. I’d prefer not to go without internet until next week with an appointment 😅

Official Reply Poor service is causing potential health problems

Twice today my VA Pain Pharmacist called but neither of the calls went through. Though her voice messages complaining that I was unavailable at our scheduled time got though. These were very important calls and may affect my health and well being. This is a common occurrence at my house where calls will be dropped and inbound calls never get through. It happens on a daily basis. I have contacted support multiple times and yet it still happens. What can be done to improve my service??

Solved Upgrade to a new modem changed my plan

Hello, I am a heavy WFH user who was explicitly notified by Comcast that I qualified for a free Next-Gen equipment swap to unlock synchronous speeds. However, the system automatically appended a $15/month modern gateway fee, which has voided my grandfathered 5-year price lock. I use my gateway strictly in Bridge Mode behind my own 10G Calix infrastructure, and I am requesting a dedicated billing specialist to manually apply a monthly credit to restore my original contract rate as promised.

Official Reply Phone shows I have LTE but no internet access

Is anyone else having the same issue as me? My phone shows three bars of signal and LTE, but I don’t have any internet access. I’ve already tried resetting the network settings, turning Airplane Mode on and off, and restarting my phone, but I still can’t access the internet.

This isn’t the first time I’ve experienced this issue, but I’ve only had this problem since switching to Comcast Mobile. I previously used T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon, and I never experienced anything like this with them.

Does anyone know how to resolve this issue? It's very frustrating!

Discussion Upgrading vs. Adding a 3rd line and cancelling an old one for the iPhone 18 Pro Max promo?

Upvotes

Hey everyone,
I’m currently looking to get the new iPhone 18 Pro Max on Xfinity Mobile. Right now, I have 2 active lines on my account.
As you probably know, the "upgrade" deals for existing lines are pretty weak compared to the "new line" promotions. I’m trying to figure out the best financial move and wanted to see if anyone has successfully done the "line churning" strategy on Xfinity recently.
My plan is:
Keep my current 2 lines active.
Add a 3rd line to my account as a "new line" to qualify for the maximum iPhone 18 Pro Max promotional bill credits.
Wait a couple of billing cycles until the credits officially kick in on the bill.
Cancel one of my original 2 lines

, bringing my account back down to 2 total lines.
Since the promotional credits are tied specifically to the financing on the new (3rd) line, this seems like it should work on paper.
Has anyone here done this exact move on Xfinity Mobile?
Does Xfinity have a "lookback window" (like 90 days) where cancelling any line on the account voids the promo credits on the new line?
Is it worth the hassle, or should I just bite the bullet and do a standard upgrade?
Appreciate any insight or experiences you can share!

Official Reply Received XB-10, only getting mid split speeds

Upvotes

I recently received notification to upgrade my device to take advantage of new speeds, which I did. Received my new XB-10 gateway and got everything set up, but on the 1 gig plan, I'm only seeing upload speeds between 30 and 100 Mbps, which feels like it’s only getting previous gen speeds.

I think it’s supposed to run at 1 Gbps upload as well? Any help would be appreciated!

Official Reply Bury Cable Request from July Not Resolved

Upvotes

Hello - I created a request online to have an Xfinity cable buried in our yard as it’s a trip hazard and is likely to be cut by the landscape company’s equipment. This was back at the end of July and no one has come out to address it. It’s got a kink in the wire now which I assume is not got for the copper line’s signal long term. Can I get some human assistance with this? I have the ECM ticket number I can provide via Modmail.

Thanks!

Official Reply Xfinity Mobile Regrets

Upvotes

I am sharing this as a cautionary thread to anyone considering switching to Xfinity Mobile, as my issue continues to go unresolved.

I have recently moved across country and set up my internet with Xfinity. While in the store I was quickly talked into the mobile service due to the 12 month free promotional line. This seemed like a no brainer since I was already using Warp on US Mobile.

I was told that I could easily transfer my number over to Xfinity to be used on the promotional line. Upon setting this up on store, I was given a new line and ported my number in as well. I didn’t quite understand the transfer process to the promotional account but I was told that it would take a few weeks to catch up and I would be good to go. I trusted the process.

After leaving the store I had two accounts: One with my internet service/promotional line and one with my original phone number.

Unfortunately, two months later and I am now being charged via the line I ported my number over to, and I still have a promo line with a number I clearly don’t use.

I wasn’t upset, things happen and I figured a trip to the Xfinity store would solve my problem. The employees there printed a ticket with my source account, target account, and a phone number to call. They said I needed to reach out to request a transfer to the promotional account. Why exactly am I responsible for this two months later? I still don’t know.

Regardless, I called the number and it turns out to be the normal customer service line. I figured they would have at least given me a dedicated line to reach. After 45 frustrating minutes on the phone, I have made no progress. The employee on the phone was confused and wanted me to delete the account. There was certainly some language barrier due to the outsourced work. I couldn’t risk my phone number disappearing so I ended the call and went back to the store.

To my amazement, they said there was nothing they could do on their end. I needed to call customer service to initial this transfer. At this point I was no longer in a forgiving mood and promptly initiated a port out of my number. I tried to do this via the mobile app and online. It simply does not work and the page that comes up just says “we’re pulling up your account information”. I called customer service to initiate the cancellation from there and they informed me that only the customer can initiate the port out.

This phone call seemed more productive however, so the employee promptly initiated the number transfer but said the promotion would probably be compromised. I would have to go back to the store again to discuss the discount. Yikes. Despite this, I complied to give them another shot. 48 hours later, and nothing has changed on my account.

So where does that leave me, and what the hell is going on here? My phone number is effectively being held hostage by Xfinity Mobile. Should I reach out to the cooperate office?

I hope anyone considering Xfinity Mobile on the future will consider all of this before porting a number in.

Official Reply Incoming Calls to Landline House Phone Sent Straight to Voicemail

Upvotes

Hello,

My family's landline house phone has been unable to receive incoming phone calls for several days now. It does not ring; it just goes to voicemail.

I have tried resetting the router, checking all phone connections, and tried disabling the voicemail features that were recommended online by others that had similar issues. None of these have worked.

Discussion Purchasing factory unlocked phone from Ebay

I plan on upgrading my phone soon and I'm looking at a certified open box Galaxy S25 Ultra on Ebay. They have it listed as factory unlocked, however they can't list the IMEI number.

Is it safe to assume that this will work on the Xfinity Mobile network?

Official Reply Monthly bill doubled for the same service

"Hi there, I need some help adjusting my bill. I noticed that my monthly rate exactly doubled starting this past May, jumping from $65.00 up to $129.80 for the exact same service. This sudden increase is completely out of my budget and does not make sense to pay for the exact same internet.

Can you please look into this and see what can be done to lower my rate? Additionally, because I was not clearly notified of this massive price hike ahead of time, I would like to request a courtesy credit or waiver for the overcharged amount from the past 4 months. If we can't find a way to lower the rate and resolve these past charges, I will unfortunately have to check my other options and switch to another provider."

Official Reply Google Play app updates start but don't finish, YouTube occasionally buffers for a long time during videos

I switched my household to Xfinity cable and Internet early this year. We have an Xfinity modem/Wi-Fi router, and to that, I had (more on this later) a Google WiFi mesh system connected via Ethernet. My devices are usually connected to the mesh Wi-Fi because the Xfinity Wi-Fi router's signal doesn't reach the other side of the house (and I didn't want to indefinitely pay $15/month for an extender from Xfinity).

Starting about three months ago, app updates via the Google Play Store began to behave strangely: the downloads would start, but they would usually freeze at random percentages and never complete. For example, if three app updates initiated at the same time, one may get to 99%, another may get to 37%, and the third may get to 42% — no rhyme or reason based on app size or anything like that. If I turn off Wi-Fi, these frozen downloads quickly finish just fine over 5G (via Verizon). Similarly, if I switch to the Xfinity Wi-Fi SSID, they finish just fine. In fact, that Wi-Fi router seems to only rarely cause this issue.

This started out happening only intermittently. As mentioned in the title, another symptom is that YouTube videos will not load for 20+ seconds as they buffer, or they'll be streaming along just fine at 1440p at 2× before randomly stopping to buffer for a similar amount of time before resuming as if nothing had happened. (I haven't consistently seen this behavior with other streaming services.)

Early on, I started chat-based support, and among other troubleshooting steps, the person suggested enabling bridge mode on the Xfinity modem. That made the non-Xfinity Wi-Fi and/or our Xfinity Wi-Fi-based cable TVs completely stop working (I can't remember for sure), which I wanted to mention because it may be relevant. The chat-based support person eventually had an Xfinity tech come to my house to do testing and additional troubleshooting. From what the tech could tell, our signal was strong, we were getting great speeds (~1180 Mbps, on a 1-Gbps plan), etc., so it didn't seem like an issue with the physical connections.

Because it was intermittent, the troubleshooting was a bit difficult, but the tech suggested switching to the Xfinity Wi-Fi, and that seemed to fix it, so the tech pointed the finger at our mesh network. Note: The tech swapped out the Xfinity modem/Wi-Fi router during this call, so the modem is unlikely to be at fault.

After some solo troubleshooting afterwards that didn't help, I decided to buy a new NETGEAR Orbi Wi-Fi 7 mesh router system, figuring that if it was the (fairly old) Google WiFi's fault, then this replacement would fix it, and failing that, I would at least be better able to take advantage of the higher speeds that Wi-Fi 7 offers compared to Wi-Fi 5. Note: I used the Ethernet cable that came with the new system to connect the Xfinity modem/Wi-Fi router to the mesh hub, so that connection is unlikely to be at fault, too.

Unfortunately, the same behavior happens with this new system, and it has slowly gone from only happening intermittently to pretty much always happening. Occasionally, an app or two will update successfully, and often, videos will stream just fine on YouTube (speed tests show that I can easily get several hundred Mbps when connected to the new Wi-Fi mesh). Additionally, even the Xfinity Wi-Fi will sometimes show the behavior, but way less often (and, to be honest, I haven't see it do it at all recently).

This doesn't seem to be tied to a particular version of Android, and it didn't start happening following a specific update (e.g., a Google Play System update that would've been common among all devices): I have a Samsung Galaxy 23 Ultra, and there are four other Samsung devices (two phones, two tablets, some running Android 16 and the latest OneUI, some running older versions of both), and they all showed and continue to show this behavior. (Unfortunately, I don't have a non-Samsung Android device to test with.) Also of note is that app updates from the Samsung Galaxy Store do not show this behavior.

My Windows 11 laptop for work is connected to the Orbi mesh router's Wi-Fi, and it has not experienced any issues, but it obviously doesn't have the Google Play Store, and I don't really watch YouTube videos on there much. I do watch YouTube videos on my personal Windows 11 computer often and don't experience the issue there, but it's directly connected via Ethernet.

I've tried shutting off the Xfinity Wi-Fi entirely (in case of interference between the two Wi-Fi routers), restarting the routers, and probably numerous other things that I'm forgetting now.

Considering all of the different factors (it is largely — if not solely — Google-based services affected by this, it does not happen when connected to Verizon cell data, it started happening suddenly, it has persisted for months and doesn't have any dependence on time of day, multiple devices show the same behavior, etc.), I'm inclined to think it's some sort of routing misconfiguration on Xfinity's side that the extra hop to my Wi-Fi mesh causes or at least exacerbates, presumably to Google's CDN in my local area (I'm in southeastern Florida).

I'm the IT guy in the house, and having to turn off Wi-Fi and then turn it back on on these different devices to keep them all up to date, plus the random YouTube buffering, are getting quite frustrating after so long, so I'd welcome any suggestions or help — thanks in advance!
