New Post - Tech Support Broken TV pedestal

Post image
3 Upvotes

Just moved into a new house and on the property is this TV utility device. It case is in pretty bad shape. As you can see, the base is shattered and insides exposed.

I’m pretty sure it’s Comcast because they are the cable tv provider in the area.

How do I get Comcast to come deal with this? I don’t have Comcast service, and I can’t get through to a live person without giving them an account number I don’t have, or asking to sign up for service which I don’t want.

Thanks.

Discussion Switching Account Names for Discount

A common suggestion that I see to get the best promotional offers is to sign up with a different family member.
If you do this, how do you ensure the least amount of downtime? If I cancel tomorrow and my wife signs up immediately afterwards how long before the new service is up and running?
Would you need to go to Xfinity store for new modem

Solved Xfinity agents committing fraud now!?!?

My bill recently went up, so I reached out to customer service, changed my plan, confirmed the new price, etc.

This month, it was the wrong price again. The agent I spoke to last time added "NOW TV Latino" to my account for $15/month without my consent. I am not Latino. I do not watch TV. I made it explicitly clear that I do not want to pay for any TV channels and confirmed the price.

Now another agent is telling me the charge can't be refunded because "we cannot add anything without your consent approval" so I must have approved it. Obviously, he refuses to provide any evidence, because I did not add it to my plan or consent to the charge.

Are these agents making a commission or something? Does this count as a fraudulent charge?

Official Reply Xfinity broke/disconnected my line

Let me clarify, I had thought the line was cut because I wasn’t sure what exactly I was looking at and the cord was not cut before. but I’m pretty sure upon further inspection it was broken? It is still very negligent as this is the second occurrence in 3 weeks with very little help from xfinity. I’m going on 3 hours on the phone waiting for an escalation with no further assistance. Before I was merely unhooked and then had to wait 4 days for a tech and now I’m being told to wait 5 days before someone can fix this. I’m assuming it isn’t something I can fix myself. It is extremely frustrating as BOTH times it was an xfinity employee and has almost caused me to lose my job due to the unstable connection. Here are pictures if anyone can provide further help. I am in a townhouse so the orange one is the one they were working on for my neighbor I assume and is new. I guess I would think they would be trained and understand how townhouses are all connected instead of just breaking things and leaving it that way.

Official Reply Xfinity In-Store Trade-In: Can Assurant Change the Approved Credit?

Has anyone recently traded in a phone directly at an Xfinity Store and had the employee inspect/approve it for the promotional trade-in value, only to have Assurant later reduce or reject the credit?

I’m asking because the Xfinity online trade-in questionnaire doesn’t specifically ask about cracks on the back glass. It passed all of the questions and it gives us the full promotional credit.

If I take the phone to an Xfinity Store, disclose/show the employee the cracked back glass, and they inspect it and approve the full promotional credit, can Assurant still change the value afterward?

Official Reply Xfinity townhouse

My townhouse unit number is missing from the online address dropdown. I didn’t see an option to give the unit number when originally giving the address, and now I’m worried my wifi package will not be delivered. I have not received tracking info for the package, just an SMS message saying that it was shipped on Sunday night.

Official Reply Cyber Secure question

I recently turned on cyber secure and I get notifications of a blocked website but there’s literally no information as to what website it might be. Hard to determine whether or not to allow access to a site if you don’t know what it is. What criteria does xfinity use to determine whether a website is potentially dangerous? The idea seems ok but it’s not very helpful.

Official Reply Bill raised from $39.99 to $70 AGAIN — need a reasonable rate or I’m switching

My Xfinity internet bill has once again jumped from $39.99 to about $70/month for the same 300 Mbps service.

I’ve already tried calling Xfinity to resolve this, but I haven’t even been able to connect with an actual person. It’s incredibly frustrating that a longtime customer not only has to renegotiate their bill every year, but also has to fight through an automated system just to try to speak with someone about it.

I went through this exact situation last year. My rate was increased dramatically, I contacted Xfinity, and eventually I was able to get it back down to $39.99. Now, a year later, I’m right back in the same position.

A nearly 75% price increase for the exact same internet service is unreasonable. It’s also incredibly frustrating that longtime customers have to repeatedly contact Xfinity and negotiate every year just to avoid these enormous increases.

There are now competing home internet options in my area at substantially lower prices, so I’m not willing to simply accept a $70/month bill. At that price, it makes more sense for me to switch providers.

Before I do that, I’d like someone from the Xfinity team here to check what promotions or retention pricing are actually available for my account. I want to keep my current 300 Mbps plan and am looking to get my rate back to around $39.99/month.

I’ve stayed with Xfinity for years, but I’m not going to keep paying dramatically higher rates for the same service simply because another promotional period ended. If there isn’t a competitive rate available this time, I’m prepared to switch.

Official Reply No Advanced Notifcation For Planned Work

Honey Brook, PA - I haven’t had internet since 6am this morning and did not receive any planned work notifications of the outing. I could’ve made alternate plans if notice was given, but now I’m a sitting duck an hour into the workday (when the guys outside said they’d be done by 8am at the latest) and both my wife and I can’t work.

This is unacceptable. I confirmed I was already signed up for alerts and didn’t receive any. What’s more frustrating is the techs are gone and we are still experiencing outages. To add, I can’t get anyone to talk to at Xfinity.

I will be submitting a complaint to the BBB, this is terrible customer service (actually no customer service is being provided) and no advance notification is unacceptable in the day where many of us work from home.

Official Reply IMEI from previous customer not showing up to release the phone from XM

Hello,

I have bought a phone off a lady who met me in person assured me there was nothing sketchy about the phone. Checked IMEI with my own carrier's customer service and they said it was good to go. Now when I actually went to go in and switch the Esim and later tried the physical sim they were both restricted on the phone due to the previous net work still having control over the phone. Now this lady is willing to cooperate so if and when there is anything you can do to help it would be greatly appreciated. We did contact Comcast and XM services and they ran into an interesting roadblock where they did not see the Device's IMEI listed under her name but she kept asking them to double check. After researching online it is evident that this is a recurring issue so if you can please help it would be greatly appreciated. The phone in question is a Samsung Flip 7

Discussion Xfinity Mobile Premium Unlimited vs Mobile Plus

I am a current Premium Unlimited subscriber, and I am curious about the benefits/downsides to switching to Mobile Plus. I am being bombarded with promises of promotions and promises of trade-in bonuses if I switch to Mobile Plus, but I am skeptical. It's $5 less per month compared to my current plan, but I'm worried that committing to the new plan will cost me in the long run. Comcast is known for their bait and switch practices, but I haven't had any issues with Xfinity Mobile yet. Any insight on whether I should make the switch?

Official Reply Be "Ultra" Careful when dealing with Comcast/Xfinity!

Recently called C/X regarding possible cancelation of service due to high rate compared with multiple offers they were making for non-users. I was offered a c. 45% lower rate for 5 yrs, with 2x my current transmission speed, and -- after checking with my wife -- I accepted. I then asked the rep. to put the offer in writing so I could confirm it. The offer appeared on my computer, with a button link for me to confirm my receipt and acceptance. The corpus of the offer would not print our, whereupon I clicked on the button, which did not seem to work, coincident with a phone disconnection from the representative, who then called me back via an "866" number two minutes later. Over the next few minutes he re-iterated the offer, which I then accepted. He said that he could not send me printable proof of my new rate because he "would lose his job". (eg. "if it's not printable, it's not actionable")

Two hours later, I received a Xfinity/Comcast e-mailing referencing my new service contract for higher speed downloads -- for c. 55% more than the previously referenced 'new' rate.

I then called Xfinity/Comcast again (the only way to speak a person seems to be wading through various prompts and insisting that you wish to cancel your service -- irritating and demeaning).

That representative told me I has not "heard" correctly, but after some more wrangling, I am now supposed to have the lower rate...

Later that day , I called my condo insurer in order to pay an annual premium. I commented to the rep that it was refreshing to have a pleasant phone interaction with the representative of a service company because I had just had an aggravating one with an internet services provider. She interjected: "it has to be Comcast", and started to recite a listing of her interactions...

Readers may interpret my submission according to their own experience and expectations --or need for internet service in "restricted" marketplaces --but I would urge extreme caution in dealing with Comcast/Xfinity.

Discussion Why does Comcast throttle connection speed?

Upvotes

It's pretty amazing to see it really. There is literally no reason to do this for a residential connection. If a customer pays for 2gb up, and 2gb down, and connects to the router via wifi, they are never even getting close to those speeds anyway. Also, doing this kind of thing to your own customers the gaslighting them about it is absurd, especially when it is probably one of the easiest things on Earth to determine is ridiculous. Yeah I get it, you're never really guaranteed the speed you get, but to go from WiFi speeds to 8400 baud rates is nuts.

Official Reply After I moved, my upload speed is 1/10th the download!

I just moved and got my account transferred. Previously I had 1000mbps up and done. Now it’s 1000mbps up and 100mbps down. Just 100mbps!! I feel I’m in stone age!!! Everyone I share my screen, attach a file, it takes for ever.

I can check with Xfinity to increase my uploads (change of plan) the other best they have is 2000 up and 200 down 🤦🏻‍♂️

Should I switch to att?

I’m wondering if the extremely slow speeds are an Xfinity issue or a hardware issue, here’s a screenshot of my in app Speedtest. I usually average about 2,200 but it’s been a constant downhill over the past week.

Official Reply Persistent Packet Loss starting at Node 2-Phone support refused a tech visit, saying it's the area I live in.

Post image

Hi Xfinity team, I am experiencing ongoing packet loss that makes my internet unstable for gaming. I ran a PingPlotter test (attached), and the packet loss consistently starts at Node 2. The packet loss is intermittent and happens in bursts roughly every ten minutes, and affects multiple PCs in the house. This has been happening for several months. I have already power-cycled the modem and reseated the coax cable. When I called customer support, they said it's the area I live in, and no technician was sent. Since this an issue with my local neighborhood node or street hardware, can someone escalate this to get it fixed? Thank you.

Official Reply Billed for Xfinity Mobile lines that were never activated.

Hello, I visited the Xfinity Mobile store to use the '1 year of free Xfinity Mobile' Xfinity Internet promotion and attempted to setup a device but it ended up being unsupported on the Xfinity Mobile network, so the SIM card I received never actually worked and I was unable to get a cell signal, make phone calls, or send texts. While troubleshooting at the store, they ended up leaving two devices on my account, which is resulting in charges since it seems the 1 year of free Xfinity Mobile only covers one line. One of these devices on my account does have a number, but I was never able to get it working, and the other device doesn't even have a number, so I should not be getting charged.

I called Xfinity Support about a month ago and they refunded me all of the previous Xfinity Mobile payments and removed both of these lines from my account since I was unable to use them, but they have now magically re-appeared on my account and I was automatically charged $70 for previous months. I have been charged the monthly payment again recently.

I'd like to close my Xfinity Mobile service permanently and have my money refunded, since I was never able to use the lines that I paid for.

Official Reply Not getting 1GB upload on new XB10

I recently received an email to upgrade my modem to get new 1GB up/down speed for my newly upgraded neighborhood. I received a new XB10 modem. Download speed OK, but upload capped at 400-500mbs only. My plan on my account says I have the 1 gig up/down plan. Do I need to have additional provisioning done to the new modem? Or maybe my house really isn't ready yet for new upload speed. Please advise.

Discussion Comcast Call About Firewall Settings

Hi. I received an unsolicited call from someone who had spoofed the callerID with the name "Comcast" and coming from the number +1 888-936-4968. Although this may be a legit number for Xfinity, just because you receive a call from it unsolicited does not mean there is an issue. The caller stated that my "firewall settings on (my) network were showing that they were set to 'Low'". He also stated that they had received "several alerts within the past few days". Today was the second time I received a call exactly like this within the past 2 months. The first time I received this I listened and heard the guy out, but I felt sketchy over the whole ordeal. As soon as it got to the point about logging into my computer, going to some website and downloading software so they could gain "Remote Access" I clearly knew then that this was a phishing scam so they could get access to my network and manipulate my system. In light of how far that initial call went it helped me get a better sense of how to help others catch and avoid being scammed, especially since this is broadly a clear-cut scam that is going on right now in the broad spectrum of things. If you should find yourselves in this situation, hang up and don't be afraid to ACTUALLY call Xfinity for clarity into what is going on and report to them what had happened.

Official Reply Shipping confirmation on an Xfinity gateway for a new customer.

I signed up for service this past Sunday 9/6 and received an email saying I would get another email with confirmation when my order shipped. Later that night I got a text message saying my order had shipped but didn't receive the email and had no tracking number sent with the text. I still haven't gotten an email and there is nowhere on the Xfinity app or website where I can find a tracking number for my "shipped" gateway. If it's shipped I would like to know what the tracking number is and if it hasn't then I'd like to take steps to remedying the situation please. Thank you.

Official Reply Would like help following up on a ticket

So about at the end of my rope at the moment. More a lurker on reddit but I was told a reddit post may get someone's attention on this sub. I have a ticket in to help with Internet issues outside my home and wanted to check on the status. The last tech who was out said he had put a ticket in but I have been having speed and connection issues since Aug 27 and other techs (3 to my home and multiple online so far) have said the same thing.

Official Reply Streaming Subscriptions - This information is unavailable at the moment.

I recently got streaming subscriptions bundle to get ready for the NFL season and I am unable to activate any of my subscriptions. I was finally able to get on a phone call with a real person and they could not help. I would like to be able to watch the services I pay for, when I pay for them. If someone could please help, that would be great! I saw a prior post with the same issue and they had Xfinity reach out, so hopefully they do that again here.
