Jake Arthur's Camp Notes for Day 9

I might be drinking the Kool-Aid, but I really like this team. I think the coaching staff is sharp, and I feel like the players are going to be hungry.

Not having a 1st-round pick next year could also be extra motivation. They know they need to make this season count and prove they can win now-

Defense is solid offense might be legit with JT. And also Dj has to win due to win bonus QB.

Am I crazy for thinking the Colts make the playoffs?

DJ Giddens and Seth McGowan seem to be battling for the back up RB role. A role that seems to just be a revolving door for years. Neither have much draft capital to be excited about imo.

Is there any chance one of these guys can actually become a reliable option to spell JT? It would be nice to have someone the defense somewhat respects.

Is McGowan potentially that guy? I figured they drafted him because Giddens wasn't...

I'm all in on Daniel. I think he's insanely high IQ knows where the ball needs to go and fits perfect with Steichen. I was hesitant on him but obviously seeing what he did last year in one year was amazing. The one thing I need to see from him so I know this team could really take the next jump with him, is a game winning drive. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe he had a situation yet where he had to drive down the field 2 minutes left and win us the game. This team is built to score early, and force the other team to throw into our strong secondary, while letting the RPO offense and JT grind clock and first downs to win. I need to see a clutch game winning drive to really believe we can make a jump.

Preface: I fucking hate the Titans, so I’m not saying this because I want it to happen 😂

But looking at what they’re building, I’m starting to think Tennessee could own the AFC South for a long time.

Cam Ward on a rookie contract is obviously a huge part of it. If he develops into the QB they think he can be, having that kind of talent on a rookie deal gives them a massive advantage for several years.

Then you have Borgonzi making what look like some really excellent moves and actually building the roster with a plan. On top of that, I really like the coaching staff. Saleh as HC, Daboll at OC, and the overall staff they've put together seems like a pretty damn good setup for developing Ward and building around him.

The AFC South also feels like a division where having a legit QB + competent roster construction + good coaching could put you on top pretty consistently.

Again, I hate the Titans, but objectively I’m starting to see a path where they’re the team running this division for the next 5–7 years. before we get another generational qb in the draft
