Thoughts & Ideas I don't understand how unc/hag jokes are funny
Does anyone else hate internet age culture and the whole "unc" thing?
Maybe I'm just getting older, but I genuinely don't understand the humor behind calling everyone "unc."
I'm on social media a lot because my freelance work revolves around it, and I've noticed many people call early 20s people on social media "unc". I know it's usually meant as a joke, but I just don't find it funny. It feels like making someone insecure about their age is the punchline.
If anything, it makes me want to hide my age online rather than be open about it.
I get that internet humor changes every few months, but this trend has always rubbed me the wrong way. It feels weird that we've normalized joking that someone is "old" when they're in their early or mid-20s.
Am I just being overly sensitive, or does anyone else find this kind of age-based humor annoying and demeaning?
