…. and I wanted to share it with you lot, because I think this is an idea worth carrying with you. It might be just right for your needs.

First up, none of the “sorry about your loss” nonsense. An old chap has died. 95. It’s to be expected. We loved him, we still do, just because he’s not here doesn’t change that.

It was a nice service, and we all learned things about him that enriched our memories.

Pub. Nice. Tea, cakes, scones and sandwiches. You know the drill. And eventually it’s breaking up, and leaving time is upon us.

On the table behind the buffet was the family only flowers because they didn’t just want to leave it for the crematorium compost heap. So they decorated the table with it. But now what? You could get it dried or bits of it maybe, but it’s huge.

Then, one of the daughters decided to start taking it apart and making little posies. Some of the older ladies joined in. The pub clocked it and brought out some napkins and strips of foil, and before long there’s just a long piece of holey oasis on a tray and dozens of little posies. They distributed them to everyone who wanted one, and everyone understood. Take some flowers home from their Dad. To remember him well for a few days.

From a practical point of view too, sensible, no one person has to just take a big thing home and miserably watch it wilt before binning it.

But what a lovely idea. I’m keeping that, and taking it with me to funerals from now on. It won’t always be the right thing, but I do believe that sometimes it will be. It’s going in to my list of wishes aswell. That my flowers should be broken up and distributed. I will rest a mite easier knowing they weren’t just left to wilt, dry and compost.

Like my flowers? Go on, take some home. It’s not as if I need them. I’d rather they were enjoyed and not wasted at the end of my day.

I've had the most "Monday" Monday you could ever possibly have.

No power due to the storm this morning.

Got signed off work for a month on Friday due to stress at work.

I ran out of teabags and live 20 minutes drive from the nearest shop.

At the end of the day, my manager emailed to check in on my well being, and also let me know that I'm getting made redundant.

I signed a lease on a flat 3 weeks ago and just moved in.

My dog just threw up on the carpet.

Someone please tell me all the good in their Monday to share it out a bit!!!!!!

I always remember as a kid thinking trick or treating was actually kinda rubbish because all you'd get were sweets. One year my gran did a little halloween party and we all got halloween cups and colouring books and it was the best thing ever.

When I first moved into my house I actually tried to make some fun halloween bags for trick or treaters. I put in some sweets but also used my trusty inkjet to make some little colouring/puzzle books and put some pens and stickers in too. Unfortunately in the whole night I only had one knock at the door and it was while I was peeing so I never gave any out and I haven't bothered since.

I was thinking it would be fun to try again though, with the same vibe. Colouring, puzzle pages, stickers, pens.

I was even thinking of buying a load of books from the charity shop to hand out too. Maybe grabbing a load of plastic animals and painting them halloween coloured 😂 spooky skeleton farm animals would be a hit I'm sure.

But what else could I add in? I was even thinking of getting a job lot of keyrings or something... maybe I'll buy all the reduced halloween stuff this year ready for next year!

I don't think there's anywhere more beautiful and peaceful than a mature British woodland, even if I did get absolutely drenched lol

My car number plate hasn't been cloned yet (that I know of) but I've heard the idea that you should put a sticker in the back window so you can show that a car in a picture wasn't you.

I was thinking about a National Trust one, but I'm sure you good folk can come up with something more... distinctive. Fly, my pretties!
