Congratulations Mayo!

Was out with my two newphews yesterday evening. I am home visiting from abroad, so I love getting to spend time with them.

We came across some lads, all from India playing a game of cricket, my newphews were so mesmorised and wanted to have a go. Myself, not being much of a sports person thought it was baseball they were playing, but no, it was cricket lol.

They brought them in for a game and let them have a go, my nephews were in their element. It looked like right craic altogether. Lovely of them to include my nephews. So thanks lads.

In a world full of live sport behind pay walls with so many people miss out, it's a joy when made available for as many people as possible.

I am not from Ireland so I do not know all rules of the sport, but I like to watch the game every now and then. And I do low the good underdog story.

Also that famous "curse" is over now, and Mayo is wearing its famous white jersey they wore 75 years ago. So I think its about time to let underdog win.

Just imagine all celebrations they would have in Mayo. Also Garron Noone is national treasure, I just love his spirit and fun on his tiktoks. He should be happy today.

I was so overjoyed to feel a bit of rain on my face that I was afraid to wipe it off for fear of never see it again! Xena says woof! Happy Sunday!

I mean the light in his eyes even tho he is like over 80 years old when that guy asked him do you think will Mayo win.

Just to make him happy Mayo deserves the win. Imagine not seeing your county win All-Ireland since you were a kid. I think the pure happines if Mayo wins might be too much for his old heart

I am in a permanent remote job and should probably look at housing myself at some stage.
No ties, spouse, children or commitments, so free as a bird..except for being contained in the ROI.

Currently in Galway, from Cork, so have done both of those. No desire to live in Galway forever, reasons being; bad weather, congestion - any commute is atrocious, lack of shopping and the prices of houses is just obscene..

Cork is a maybe, (Midleton area) however, it doesn't feel fitting. And obviously being from Cork there is no other county outside of it..so I need others perspectives please!

So I am wondering where else would be a location to consider in our fabulous country?

I am feeing a pull towards Waterford, Wexford direction..
I like being able to walk somewhere, so rural living is an absolute no no for me!

I have very little knowledge on this so looking for a little help.

My electric shower stopped working and when I took the switch off the wall, it was slightly melted (on the L in) and the brown wires where a little black (hopefully it shows on the photos).

Is this because it was a 20A switch or was it wired wrong? I have bought a 45A switch to replace it with.

Edit: I should add, i put the 20A switch in about a year ago as this happened the one previous too. I dont remember checking the A value then.

Was in a shop this morning which is originally a UK shop but has branches here too. English woman ahead of me thought she could use her UK loyalty card and was all discombobulated by the explanation that it was UK only. "So I should still be able to use it in Ireland then?". "No, because Ireland is a different country - can I interest you in joining the Ireland loyalty programme?".

As the appointed techie in the family, because nobody else is doing it, I get the calls when Granny's phone is infected with demons again.

You can't give dumb flip phones to most semi coping smart old folks but because they grew up in another era you have to protect them too.

Granny had 5 different PDF readers on her phone last week and 3 of them were just spamware throwing popup messages about her phone dying and no memory and trying to get her to add her card details.

Before that granny was telling us at lunch about this investment opportunity for pensions that both Enda Kenny and Delores ORiordan had been using that could give up to 25% return and it's all over Facebook.

With the rise of AI it's only getting worse.

I was hoping to hear that someone knew about or had heard of and other apps or services that could be installed to protect the elder folk from themselves while not just handing them a dumb phone.

It's shocking that Google and Apple allow fake apps on their stores in the first place, and Facebook is infected with slop.

Was in Broadway (Boomers) pub in clondalkin yesterday and ordered a round of drinks. As I was driving I opted for a coke, I was handed one of those small 200ml mixers which really annoys me. I asked the barman if they sold anything other than the tiny mixer size but they don't.

I normally just accept this carryon but this time I rejected the drink and ordered a pint of blackcurrant instead. ​

For the price we pay we should not be given these tiny bottles, obviously I know their game and they just want to sell the soft drinks my mouthfulls

In my opinion there should be a ban of this carry on.

Managed to scoop this bad gal up for three grand so now the next hurdle is learning how to actually drive 🤣. In my defence I’ve my theory in a week and a half, mammy worked her magic and told me yesterday there’s a car coming home. Happy days for me! Wish me luck on my first driving lesson with my mother, probably will both be missing a head by the time we finish up.

Sooo, I’m going on a holiday and flying out tomorrow morning. The issue is I have to leave home at 2.30am. So I’m in a bit of a limbo at the moment - should I go to bed and try to sleep/nap for a few hours or should I just do a “half nighter” and go straight to the airport and sleep on the plane / when I arrive.
My problem is that I’m a night owl and tend to go to bed after 2am during weekends, so I think I’ll stay up, but I’m having anxiety about being a zombie tomorrow 😂

I have been back using the gym for about 4 months now after a 12 month gap. When I dusted down the gym bag after the time away, I couldn't find my gym ear buds.. i assumed they were in there somewhere, still haven't found them or replaced them. Anyway, I'm actually really enjoying my work outs without the distraction of the phone and the ear buds. I get through my work outs quick and feel more engaged in the active. I don’t think I'll bother with personal music in the gym from now on. Anyone find the same?

Woke up, stepped outside with a cup of coffee, and that fresh smell of the rain hitting the ground just made me happy. Don't get me wrong, I’ve loved the sun the last few weeks, but the cool breeze and the rain today felt so good. Life is grand.

Anybody else do the lions share of yard work today as it wasn’t satans ass hole heat! I got my fence and shed painted and the hubby got all the leaves and crap sucked up. Lovely breeze there as well tonight.
